Work Text:
Everyone knew that Bakugou had a knack for spicy foods.
Due to the three week schedule they have in the dorms, there is one day for everyone in the class to have something that one person likes.
Some examples would be, Kaminari's night being takeaway night, Koda's is always vegan, they have soba for Todoroki's night, etc.
This specific day was "Spicy Saturday" (as the rest of the class calls it), Bakugou's day.
Luckily, when he cooks for the class, he doesn't add too much spice. So, one day, while Bakugou is cooking that nights food, Kirishima makes a bet.
"I bet that I could eat a full dish of Bakugou's with the full amount of spice." Saying that, he got some disapproving looks from the more responsible people in the room (and a worried look from Midoriya), but no one tried to stop him, knowing that when Kirishima makes a bet, no one can stop him.
Kaminari (hesitantly) agreed to join in because they wanted to try something really spicy to test if one of Midoriya's theory about their quirk was correct.
Iida and a few others wanted to stop them, but they needed to learn their lesson in making bets, especially when Bakugou is involved in said bet, so no one tried to stop them when they wandered off into the kitchen.
When they returned, they cheered, having successfully gotten him to make it, but Kaminari had a worried look on their face.
"Is there any chance that I could back out now?" They asked sheepishly. "The look on his face when we asked- it's got me second guessing." Kaminari looked like they was literally sweat dropping.
With the class' attention being turned away from the kitchen, too focused the conversation they were having, they didn't notice that Midoriya had slipped into the kitchen behind them.
"What are you making?" He asked, leaning onto the counter next to the spiky blonde.
"Curry, no one ever wants to help me put food onto plates and you can't really help because of, Y'know." He responded, glancing at the greenette's scarred hands before focusing on what he was doing.
Due to the nitroglycerin-like substance from his hands, Bakugou often needed help touching things like food to make sure no one got anything harmful in their food. While his sweat wasn't exactly nitroglycerin, it was really similar, so he had to be careful around other people's food and drinks. Curry was the only thing that he could make without needing help. On other dishes, luckily, he could use the kitchenware, but putting it on plates was a struggle.
Before UA, Midoriya would help, but because of his quirk and unnatural pain tolerance combined, he couldn't put food onto plates without either dropping it or hurting himself without realising it.
"Extra spice?"
"Yep, just the way we both like it and the two other dishes of it for the idiots, the rest of the extras are getting the less spicy usual and Animal whisperer is getting his vegan one." Midoriya hummed in response, making sure to pour two large glasses of milk for Kaminari and Kirishima.
When the food was being set out, Sato and Shoji helped bring the plates to the table, Bakugou bringing out the extra spicy plates because he knows that very few in the class can stand the smell.
The two betters sat at their plate and could smell the spice on it, Jirou and Mina could also smell it, being sat right next to them. Looking across the table to where Bakugou was sat, they noticed the smug look on his face.
"Well? Aren't you going to eat?" He said with a smirk, watching as they stared in fear at the plate.
"If it makes you feel better, I have the same." Midoriya spoke up, smiling at them. Kirishima then took one for the team under the impression of Midoriya's soft smile and took a big spoonful of his. Kaminari then did the same when Kirishima didn't have an immediate reaction.
After the heat hit them, Midoriya looked them both in teary eyes and started eating, not even pausing after the third bite. Eventually he had eaten the whole thing and Bakugou was taking their plates in.
"Was there not enough spice, or did you purposely not put the full amount in?" Midoriya asked, watching Bakugou return to the table.
"There wasn't enough and I only put a bit more than half of what we usually have in, I'm not that cruel."
Kirishima and Kaminari were passed out on the sofa, having chugged a full pint of milk each.
Needless to say, they learned a valuable lesson.
Don't make bets you can't win, especially if it includes Bakugou in it.
(And if you want to know, Midoriya's theory was correct, Kaminari has a higher tolerance to spice than the average person, the theory was proven correct when Kirishima had eaten two spoonfuls and his mouth started burning, while Kaminari had at least six)
