"Have any of you seen Scott recently? I've been looking for him and he isn't downstairs." Owen said and the three rats he had been talking to looked up from their business and seemed to think about the answer, "Nah man," Came from the safety rat. "No sorry Owen." Asnwered Bek and Will only shrugged and Owen knew the answer.
Owen sighed and he started to walk away back to his clock house before his eyes landed on the scaffolding that gave them all access to the rafters.
Why hadn't he thought about it!? Of course Scott would go somewhere that wasn't his house, downstairs were danger lurked, and in the attic floor where he could be found in no time. He'd be up high where no rats would like to actually be, the rafters. Owen's scraped home.
If, most likely, Scott where to be up there then Owen would need to take some type of comfort to give to Scott besides his presence. A blanket of some type, Owen walked towards Scott's house, he went up the steps and over the farm and into the house.
He went down a hall and back up stairs and he saw Scott's big baby blue bed, a folded blanket was at the foot of the bed and Owen grabbed it. The cloth was soft and totally came from the humans, maybe even a part of their bed covers.
He went back out of Scott's house and went towards the scaffolding, he quickly climbed up them and he squinted in the dim lighting of the dark rafters. Owen searched for a torch and took one out, making sure he didn't burn the soft blanket he had tucked in under his left arm. His vision became better as he adjusted to the torch, he walked fowards and took a right making sure he didn't fall through the placed fences he use to fall down so much.
And it didn't take him long before he found Scott.
Scott was lying on his side, back facing the wall and Owen was able to see that Scott was indeed asleep for now. His straw hat was placed near his legs, arms tucked in near the chest and his legs curled up, he was in a fetal position.
Owen placed the torch down and unfolded the blue blanket and covered Scott with it. He moved the straw hat above the blanket and he sat down near Scott, Owen was simply looking at Scott's chest heave up and down slowly in a steady space. Making sure it didn't stop whatsoever(even though he knew, it wouldn't, he just made sure).
"Owen?" Owen blinked and looked down towards Scott's face. Seeing open eyes he smiled, "Hey. You doing okay? I had been looking for you all day." Scott yawned and rubbed his eyes.
"I forgot to tell someome I was going to be up here, sorry Owen." They both sat in a comforting short silence before Owen seemed to answer. "It's fine, just leave a note at your door or on mine. That'd just be enough," Scott smiled and he grabbed at his blanket pulling it up closer to his face.
Owen adjusted himself to lie down on his back, propping his head up with his hands. "Ya know, seeing the stars would be better than seeing just wood." Scott gave an agreeing hum.
"Hey maybe we can meet back up here later tonight and we can go outside and watch the stars, maybe even the sunrise again!" Owen smiled. They both liked the idea, they'd both be able to see the two things they most like about the sky.
Owen: the beautiful twinkling stars, the humming of the crickets and the soft gushing wind.
Scott: the pleasing colors of the sunrise, the soft warmth that comes with the sun's first glowing rays.
It'd be just right to go out and watch the stars up until sunrise.
