Chapter Text

Ranboo was panicking. No, that seemed like too strong of a word for what he felt running down the sidewalk, scared every time he stumbled he was going to fall over and indirectly murder his son. Never mind, panicking was a fine word.

Their alarm just so happened to not go off on the day of an incredibly important audition and now he had to both get to it and find somewhere to drop off Michael. He explicitly remembers setting the alarm to wake him up two hours before, but Tubbo must have messed with it when he dropped off Michael.

Thankfully the studio was right around the corner from where his hotel was and in between was dare care, that probably didn’t take walk-ins he realized. People in these parts were either rich, famous, or both, so the local businesses probably had the same amount of class.

Whatever, I can just… throw money at them, I’m rich I can do that. He thought, though that did seem rude- I didn't matter, he had to get to the audition on time, he really wanted that role.

Partly because he heard Tubbo was gunning for it, and showing up his ex-husband was an opportunity Ranboo wouldn’t miss. Most beloved actor, my ass. He scoffed and Micheal gave him a confused look.

Ranboo stopped in front of an honestly hideously colored building, color theory is dead, I guess, and pulled out his phone to check the map.

Yup this was definitely a daycare, which would explain the childish paint job, or maybe not, Ranboo never owned a daycare, it could be painted with the blood of the owner’s enemies and he’d have no idea.

He just shrugged and walked in. It looked like a normal day care, a reception in front and two hallways lined with doors. The walls were decorated with different decals and drawings. They looked around awkwarding

No one was at the desk. Shit. He was already nervous but now he was confused on top of it, today was not looking up to be a good day.

“Um, hello? Is anyone here?” He called, he walked closer to the desk looking around.

“There’s a bell dumbass.” Ranboo jumped and spun around, but there was still no one there. He cautiously approached the desk again, which he just realized did have a bell on it. Why does a daycare have a bell?

“Why are you under the desk?” Was he still asleep and this was a stress-dream? That made much more sense than this.
“What, never wanted to cry under a desk before? ‘can say it's pretty nice, better when people don’t interrupt.” The man stood up, and acted like nothing was weird about the fact he was apparently just got done crying under a desk, and ran a hand through his blonde hair as he spoke. “Are you here to drop of your son.” He motioned toward Michael

“Um, yes, sorry I don’t have anything set up, I’m in a hurry, I’ll be gone till 4, just uh- take- child.” Ranboo awkwardly handed Michael to the man. Now that Ranboo could see him not obscured by a wooden desk, he was pretty, in the most basic sense of the word. Nice blue eye, fluffy golden racoon ears and tail, and a smile that could by probably start and end World War 3.

Now that was an odd and slightly concerning thought.

“4’s like 6 hours from now, that-”

“I know, I know here.” Ranboo had googled rates while running over here to save time, thank god they did, because this had already taken much longer than he expected. He quickly handed the receptionist the appropriate amount of money.

The man stared at him for a few seconds, it felt oddly judgmental.

“Listen, big man, this is great but I do need to know all his medical stuff, allergies y’know?”

“Right, I wrote it down here.” Even Ranboo was surprised by how prepared he was, but he really wanted to steal the role from Tubbo, and the goat hybrid was sneaky, and always plotting, so he had to be prepared. Maybe this is unhealthy.

“Alright..? Well I do need more-”

“Thanks, got to go, by!” Ranboo rushed, and quickly power-walked to the exit.

“Wel- oh whatever.” The man sighed, “WAIT WHAT'S YOUR NAME?!”

“Ranboo!”

“...pid name… Mines Tomm-” Ranboo couldn't hear the rest as the door closed and he hit the sidewalk, still hoping to not be late.
