Summary
Five years after the collapse of the Metaverse, life goes on for everyone that once called themselves a persona user. Takuto Maruki continues cab driving. Akira Kurusu pursues higher education while still living in the attic his teenage self called home.
A dropped prescription bag and a cup of spilled coffee cause them to reunite. Neither of them are the same as before. When Maruki decides to rob himself of the future, Akira saves him from his fate. Afterward, they work together to find out how to change for the better, this time unable to use the Metaverse as their crutch.
