Chapter Text
Eleven had a piece of paper resting on the table, and a pencil. The pencil scratched across the paper, writing down unknown items.
The sound reached Henry’s ears, and he walked over to where she’s sitting, and sits down next to her.
“What are you writing?” He asked
Eleven turned to him, her eyes shining with joy. “I have ideas for what we’re gonna do for Christmas!” She started to describe all of these things, making cookies, looking at lights, singing carols. The first two sound good, but carols…maybe he’ll let her do that one and just chaperone.
Another item on her list catches his eye. Finish the DND campaign. “You’ve been working on that campaign for quite a while, haven’t you?” Henry teased, half joking. Of course she has. He’d known about it since Eleven started DND. She would talk about it with happiness that she made friends. He was wary of the boys she was playing with, but they never seemed to do any damage, or hit any triggers. So, Henry thought it was a good idea.
Other ideas on the list.
-Gingerbread House.
Henry did research on Christmas traditions, so he knows that a gingerbread house is more decorating. The gingerbread comes made, so Eleven won’t have to prepare it herself, which would cause a lot of problems. She’s not very good at cooking or baking, and privately Henry is surprised she hasn’t burned down the kitchen yet.
-Christmas Tree.
Another common tradition, where people cut down an evergreen tree and decorate it with lights and ornaments. He doesn’t have any of these, but Henry's seen them at Melvald’s General Store, where he works, so they can’t be very rare.
-Advent Calendar.
This one is more rare, but it’s a calendar that only lasts 25 days, so you can count down to Christmas.
He speaks up. “We can do all of these, if you like.”
Eleven’s eyes somehow get even happier, and she throws her arms around his neck. Henry is quick to embrace her back, as always.
This is what makes him happy. Not the presents, or the traditions, or the insane amount of Christmas jingles. Just being with Eleven for another year.
