Chapter Text
CHAPTER ONE
It was December time. The 23rd to be exact. Argyle drove Jonathan, El and Will to the airport. They were going back to Hawkins.
-Will’s POV-
I couldn’t wait to get back. It was going to be great to spend Christmas with my friends again. I was a little disappointed about Mom not coming with us but with her work it was pretty much impossible. Obviously Jonathan was going to be there to watch over us but between us I knew he would just be spending the whole time with Nancy. All three of us were staying at the Wheeler’s. I don’t know what the sleeping arrangements would be. Jonathan would probably sleep with Nancy and perhaps El in Mike’s room since they’re dating… That would leave me alone in the basement. Hopefully I would still enjoy myself and wasn’t going to be surrounded by Mike and El non stop kissing. That would just be annoying…

-Mike’s POV-
I was really excited. Will and El surely weren’t going to be long. If only walkie-talkies worked at such a distance. I hope things weren’t going to be too awkward between me and El. We had a sort of argument before they left and she kissed me… So I guess that means we’re dating. She told me she loved me. But I don’t think I love her anymore… I’ve grown to lose feeling for El. Sure, I missed her of course. But I think it was time to end the relationship. We had been dating for what-three years? Yes it was definitely time to end it… I just hope it wouldn’t affect the atmosphere. It’s Christmas after all! I was really looking forward to spending it with them. Especially Will because I hadn’t spent a lot of time with him last summer due to an argument we had. It got sorted out - obviously. I went to apologise to Will and it all went back to normal. Ish. I missed him and I was a real jerk to him at the argument. I hadn’t been there for him when he most needed me because I was too selfish to even notice. Hopefully he would’ve forgiven me. I think so anyway. The day he left for California was really hard for me. I wanted to end things with El once and for all at that moment but she was already as sad as it was. Then she kissed me and I didn’t know what to say. It was too late to break up with her then.
“Mike! Nancy!” said my Mom from downstairs. “I think I hear a car.”
I ran downstairs as fast as I could. I peered through the window. A car was pulling up on our drive. I didn’t recognise the car - because it was a rented car - but I recognised the driver very well. It was Jonathan Byers, Will’s older brother.
-Will’s POV-
Jonathan parked the rental car on the Wheeler’s drive. I got out of the car as soon as I could. Mike was already getting out of his house. He ran towards me. I did the same. He wrapped his arms around me and I put mine around his neck and slid them through his bushy hair.
“Your hair’s grown” I said, hesitantly.
He laughed as we slowly unwrapped ourself from one another.
“I’ve not seen you for what - 4 months and that’s the first conversation-starter you come up with!?” he said, chuckling.
I could feel I was blushing.
“I didn’t know what to say!” I said, laughing too.
Mike smiled, a nice smile. I liked seeing that. He looked at me in the eyes.
“I really missed you, Will” he said
“I missed you too” I said.
I stared back into his eyes. He wrapped his arms around my neck again. I hugged back.
“El…”
Mike unwrapped his arms. And walked towards El, his girlfriend. My sister. She jumped into his arms. I stared, heartbroken once again. El kissed Mike on the lips. I turned away. I didn’t want to see the rest.
-Narrator POV-
The three teenagers went into the Wheelers’ house. Will looked a little frustrated but was trying his best not to show it. It was Christmas time. There was no need for a fight to break between them.
