Stay Awhile, You’re Exactly What I Need

Summary:

Kaeya turned the knob to Albedo’s lab with a careful motion. The door opened fully and immediately Kaeya recognized the alchemist’s usual stance: sat firmly in his chair, slightly bent over his desk, and hastily writing away at reports due a week from then.

Albedo was working really late again.

“Oh, my apologies, Albedo. My visit can wait until tomorrow. Goodnight, my love.” Kaeya said softly, closing the door almost half way when Albedo said abruptly,

“No no… please stay awhile. You’re exactly what I need right now.

Work Text:

Kaeya turned the knob to Albedo’s lab with a careful motion. It was 2:00 AM; he didn’t want to startle the alchemist inside.

Kaeya slowly reopened the door from its halfway checkpoint and looked at Albedo questioningly, yet with relief. He lovingly scanned the blonde’s face for any signs of vulnerability or pain, but nothing of that sort was visible. Albedo simply wanted his company.

“I… have just been working on one particular monotonous report,” Albedo began, staring at Kaeya in the doorway.

Kaeya closed the door and walked slowly toward Albedo at his desk.

“It somehow reminded me of you. Well, most things do, but this one stuck out. And I’ve been thinking of you. Missing you. All day.” Albedo said, as he arose from his seat swiftly to meet Kaeya halfway in his approach.

Their height difference always made Kaeya giggle a tiny bit. Having the alchemist look up to him with such beady eyes in every conversation they held— no matter how tender, intimate or serious the conversation may be— was always so purely amusing to the captain. Before Kaeya can begin his silent chuckle, Albedo pushed his lips against his.

Moments like these. Moments like these were ones that Albedo couldn’t think straight— and Albedo was always thinking— and that fact made him yearn for more. Never in his life did he think he would be able to stop thinking for a second, to just simply feel, especially in another’s warmth, but here Kaeya was: returning his kiss and achieving the impossible.

The kiss ended after Kaeya pulled away and finally went through with his earned chuckle. “You think I’m monotonous, my dear?” He said through the playful laugh. Kaeya’s hands slowly adhered to Albedo’s waist, lovingly pulling the smaller body onto his, finally closing the too-large gap between the two.

“Not at all. What made the report so monotonous was that it was too you. It made it so unbearable to continue, since my longing for you increased with every subject.”

“What exactly made this report so me? I’d like to hear your thinking process. Consider me more than interested.” Kaeya then moved his right hand to cup his lover’s face. His palm cradled the blonde’s cheek perfectly. It was as if his hands were made for every curve, edge and crevice of his body.

Albedo glanced down and furrowed his brows, as if he was trying to recall every aspect of the report that reminded him of his beloved. “It was a large amount of things, I’m sure. One thing in particular, though, was a mention of hilichurls with noticeable blue hair. They were taller hilichurls as well. Very irregular.”

Albedo looked back up at Kaeya to see his honest reaction, only to be met with another playful, genuine laugh. This one cut short when Kaeya said, “There were more things, correct? Go ahead, tell me them. I’m enjoying this.”

The alchemist couldn’t help but smile and return the laughter.

“There was also a mention of ‘masked furry monsters with wands’ possessing crates of wine. Many crates, that is.”

Kaeya and Albedo laughed in sweet unison. “Abyss mages possessing crates of wine? That does sound very me. I would most definitely pull off a wine heist if I were an abyss mage, given the opportunity. Though I know Diluc would immediately find me and torture me with grape juice.”

“If you were an abyss mage, everyone in Mondstadt would certainly be capable of recognizing you, not just Master Diluc. You stand out more than the average person. In any form you’d take, I’m sure you would be discernible…or at least I would recognize you. I doubt you’d even make it to the winery before a knight on patrol catches you and brings you to myself.” As Albedo continues, Kaeya guides him by the waist onto the couch. He sits first and gently aids Albedo to sit next to him. As Albedo sits, Kaeya kisses him on the cheek tenderly, catching him by surprise. Albedo usually has no taste for surprises, but if given by Kaeya, they make his heart flutter. A red tint spreads on his pale face.

“Well, I’m glad to know I would be in your care as an abyss mage…”

Kaeya shuffles a tiny bit, getting closer to the blonde. He leans a little too close and speaks fondly,

“I love how you flatter me so directly, Albedo. What you believe are facts are actually very heartwarming to me. It’s like you’re flirting on accident.”

Kaeya’s after-chuckle is radiant and true. Albedo’s face gains even more blush, spreading from even his cheeks to his nose and forehead. He had no idea he was flirting with the captain. Was he?

“Can I kiss you more, Albedo?” Albedo’s thoughts were cut short from the endearing question.

It was getting harder for Albedo to think properly. Kaeya’s hand was slowly gliding over the side of his torso, making its way up to his chest. The lamps in his lab were dimmed more than usual. The couch was perfect to melt into and, gosh, Kaeya was still leaning in way too close.

Albedo answered the question as he closed the gap between their lips. He felt bad for not verbally confirming consent, but oh well— he was tired of processing. He wanted to feel Kaeya’s sweet, sweet warmth again. To satisfy his yearn for just pure sensation and love.

Kaeya moved one hand to Albedo’s cheek while the other slid down from his chest to his waist to hold him steady. Kaeya leaned in more onto Albedo, pushing him slowly onto the soft armrest of the couch, while he carefully hovered over him. The kiss was still gentle in its first moments, but after Albedo lifted his hand to touch Kaeya’s chest, rubbing the exposed crevice from the flaps of his uniform, Kaeya began to kiss more intensely.

Kaeya made a “hmm” noise into Albedo’s lips, signaling him to open his mouth. Albedo compliantly did so, immediately feeling Kaeya’s warm tongue explore his mouth. Albedo had his turn shortly after, exploring Kaeya’s mouth just as passionately. Their bodies got closer as Kaeya ran his fingers through Albedo’s hair, using the strands as a hold to push torso against torso. Albedo’s hands also found place in Kaeya’s hair. grabbing and massaging his scalp especially when Kaeya’s tongue roughly aimed for the back of his mouth.

The time was 2:17 AM. By the time they were finished, it was 2:43 AM. They madeout for about 30 minutes.

The session ended with Kaeya’s shirt fully unbuttoned and Albedo’s shirt completely off. Both men’s hair were messier than ever. Sweat drenched the cushion beneath them. Both were breathing very heavy— they were too disheveled to speak.

Kaeya broke the silence first. “It’s…getting very late. Let’s clean up a little, then we can head to my place, if that’s alright with you.”

Albedo assumed Kaeya wanted to ignore the lust he possessed, and that was fine with him. He did not think he could handle anymore than that, anyway.

————

After they had redressed, lazily redid their hair and wiped off their sweat, they began to head home. It was nice doing such intense things then cleaning it all up like it never happened. It was one of Albedo’s favorite aspects of this relationship, though he’d never say it. It seemed a little too vulnerable of him, or so he thought.

They walked with a swift pace, as seeing two captains of the Knights of Favonius walk out in the middle of the night wasn’t exactly preferable. There was a comfortable silence between the two as they walked down the stairs. His own residence was in the far distance, enough time to ask about it, Kaeya had thought.

Silence broke when Kaeya said curiously, “Albedo, do you know anything about Sucrose’s love life?”

“I know about as much as you do.”

“How much do I know, exactly?”

“You know that her and Rosaria and in some sort of relationship, do you not?”

“I do. Though, I was hoping you’d tell me more.”

Albedo barely twitched for a second. Kaeya was an observant, doting man. He would watch every moment, every action of his love when given the opportunity. Knowing this, Albedo realized he’d screwed up with that minimal twitch.

“…You do know more than that, don’t you? Won’t you tell me, my dear? I’ve been quite curious for awhile now.” Kaeya had used that charismatic tone once again. How could he not be tired of luring Albedo in, making him succumb and falter at his will? It was nearing 3 AM and Kaeya still had the charm in him to make Albedo feel an assortment of things.

“I at first did not think I should tell anyone,” Albedo began, while glancing down and furrowing his brows once more. It seems he made this expression whenever he tried to recall something. Kaeya thinks of this as simply cute.

“but Sucrose told me to ‘keep this information safe.’ I interpret that demand to be, ‘do not tell anyone but your secret lover.’ “

Kaeya looked eagerly into Albedo’s eyes, waiting for the continuation of the secret’s reveal. Turns out Kaeya was a huge gossip, fond of knowing any drama but not fond of being involved with it.

Albedo began to slowly grin and state, “Unfortunately, i’ll have to tell you when we get to your apartment,”

Kaeya’s eagerness turned into disappointment, he hadn’t known his lover to be so petty sometimes. Though, he supposed it was nice to see a kind of confident side of the blonde.

“Please do tell me when we get home. It’d be a shame to be left hanging…” Kaeya said with a yawn.

“Of course. It’d be a shame to leave you hanging as well.” Albedo responded with a smile. It really was pleasant when it were just the two of them. His day was so tedious with the constant longing for Kaeya. Kaeya’s visit was really all he had needed to recharge, and he could not have been happier.
