Winter Wonderland

Work Text:

Although no snow had been in the forecast, TK woke up to see a light dusting of snow on the ground outside their living room window, and even more snow falling from the sky. Excitedly turning back to the bedroom, where Carlos was dozing, TK bounded into the bedroom, not able to contain his excitement.

"Carlos! It's snowing! Let's go outside and have a snowball fight before our shifts today!"

"Unnghh, TK, remember what happened last winter? As your loving fiancé I'm not going to risk you getting hypothermia again."

"Carlos, baby, please. I promise to dress warmly, and the second I start to feel cold, we'll go inside. Please, baby?"

"Fine. But I'm holding you to that promise," Carlos said as he rolled out of their bed.

Half an hour later, with TK dressed in jeans, a long sleeve shirt, fuzzy socks, hiking boots (the closest thing Carlos could find that weren't shoes, since they lived in Texas), a hat, his warmest hoodie, and a winter coat (which Carlos had purchased for TK after his bout with hypothermia last year), Carlos decided TK was dressed warmly enough for a short snowball fight.

Stepping outside to the fresh, cold air, Carlos barely had time to react before a snowball was felt hitting the back of his head. Turning around, he saw TK armed with two more snowballs, which made him wonder how TK had made them so quickly.

"Oh, we're not even getting a warmup. You just went right for it. You'll be in for it, babe."

Grinning, TK let loose the two snowballs he had in his hands, both hitting their mark. One hit Carlos in the chest, and the other one smacked right into his leg, leaving a powdery trail of snow on his jeans.

Bending down to create his own snowballs, Carlos heard TK take off running now that he wasn't armed anymore. When he looked back up, with a snowball in hand, TK was nowhere in sight.

"TK, I don't think hiding will do you any good. A snowball fight is two sided, you can't just go hide after getting me."

Rounding the corner of the their building, Carlos pelted TK with his snowball as TK lunged forward, smashing a handful of snow into Carlos' face. The momentum from TK's movement, however, was a little too fast, and TK ended up falling forward and taking Carlos with him. They ended up lying in the snow, TK on top of Carlos, with flushed cheeks, and a brightness in his green eyes, making them look more emerald.

Tightening his arm around TK's waist, Carlos pulled him closer to give him a peck on the cheek. Lowering his face to Carlos' TK kissed Carlos, smiling as Carlos deepened the kiss.

Suddenly, TK broke the kiss, turned his head away from Carlos, and sneezed twice to the side of him. Sitting up, Carlos immediately grabbed TK's hand, "Okay, that's it, we're going back inside."

"Babe, I'm not cold yet though," TK protested, before sneezing three more times in quick succession.

"That would say otherwise," Carlos countered as he led TK inside and toward the elevator.

Once in the loft, Carlos helped TK out of his clothes, and went to make a batch of coffee while TK got dressed for work. Coming out of their bedroom in his Austin Fire shirt, Carlos handed a cup of coffee to TK, "Here babe, this will help warm you up."

Taking a sip of his coffee, TK smiled into the warmth of it, "Thank you baby. I love you."

In answer, Carlos pulled TK in for a soft kiss, savouring the taste of coffee on his lips, and feeling him start to smile.
