xoxo (someone wants to give you a winter kiss)

Summary:

“I, I don’t know. I just, I want to confess to Chan.” Hyunjin says, voice shaking as he finally, finally, verbally admits the truth. “Me, Felix, and Chan were at the ramyeon place where Wooyoung works, and Chan seemed…off. Felix said he was jealous, but I’m not sure.” Hyunjin rambles, before cutting himself off with a huff. “Help me Minnie.” Hyunjin whispers then, the sound loud in the dim quiet of the empty room.

Seungmin sighs, a sigh that signals his thoughts are getting hectic, and Hyunjin looks up at Seungmin’s form. The younger’s hands are carding through the blue strands of Jeongin’s hair and the youngest of the trio is still fast asleep where he lays, curled up in a ball of black clothing and neon blue hair. It’s adorable, Hyunjin admits.

Or, Hyunjin really wants to confess to Chan, but he doesn't know how to. Luckily for him, theres a service at his university called Winter Kisses that may be able to help him.

Work Text:

Hyunjin listens as Felix rambles on about his Christmas present idea for Changbin, his brain not registering any of the things the younger is saying. His mind is thinking of Chan, the boy in the year above him who he knows through Felix. He’d bumped into Chan at the gym earlier and holy fuck, the sight of Chan in a sleeveless shirt, sweaty from working out, had Hyunjin’s knees feeling weak. It isn’t until Felix gently flicks his forehead that Hyunjin startles out of his daydreaming.

“Sorry Felix.” Hyunjin mumbles and the younger smiles, seemingly unphased by Hyunjin’s zoning out.

“You were thinking of Chan again, weren’t you?” Felix taunts, his tone light along with his laughter, and Hyunjin flushes. Curse Felix to know just exactly what Hyunjin’s mind had drifted to.

“Shut up.” Hyunjin mumbles, taking a sip of his drink, before glaring at Felix. The younger just laughs, taking a sip of his own drink, before speaking.

“You know I could just ask him out for you, right?” Felix says and Hyunjin sputters.

“No! He deserves better than that!” Hyunjin exclaims and Felix laughs again, the sound bright and merry. Hyunjin sometimes thinks that Felix is an elf with how giddy he gets around the Christmas period.

“Hmm.” Felix hums, lost in thought, before an idea flits through his mind and he gasps. “You could do the Winter Kisses programme!” Felix says, eyes wide with joy.

“No, absolutely not. That’s, that’s embarrassing.” Hyunjin mumbles, face scarlet.

“Oh you’re a killjoy, Hyunjin. Just think it over.” Felix says, sipping his drink once more, and Hyunjin sighs.

Was he really a killjoy?

*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*

It’s the next day when Hyunjin finds out that Seungmin is part of the Winter Kisses team.

“Yeah, it’s pretty interesting. Most people use it to surprise their partner, but we’ve had one or two people use it to confess.” Seungmin says. Jeongin is sat next to him, their hands interlinked whilst Jeongin scrolls through his phone, completely tuned out of the convo.

“Ah, okay. That’s pretty cool.” Hyunjin says and Seungmin fixes him with a look that spells trouble. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Hyunjin asks and Seungmin opens his mouth to speak when Jeongin cuts him off, eyes never once leaving his phone.

“You’re too interested in this.” Jeongin says. Seungmin laughs then, a sweet sound, and Hyunjin huffs.

“That’s basically what I was gonna say.” Seungmin says, shrugging and Jeongin looks up for a second to leave a kiss on Seungmin’s cheek before focusing back on his phone. Seungmin flushes red but tries to act unaffected.

“Fine. I was curious about using the system to confess.” Hyunjin says and Jeongin looks up again then, locking his phone and placing it face down before looking at Hyunjin with a smirk.

“Oh yeah? To who?” Jeongin asks and Hyunjin huffs, mumbling ‘not telling’.

“It’s Chan.” Seungmin says and Hyunjin turns to him, neck popping with the speed of the movement, but he doesn’t take his eyes off the younger. “Bingo.” Jeongin laughs at that, pulling Seungmin’s eyes away from Hyunjin.

“Eugh, fine. Yes, I wanna confess to Chan.” Hyunjin says, admitting defeat in the face of these younger friends (fiends) of his.

“I never knew you knew him.” Jeongin says, leaning forward.

“Met him through Felix. I don’t really know him, but hot boy hot, okay?” Hyunjin says, feeling heat fill his cheeks. He hates being open about his feelings but he’s also absolutely terrible at hiding them. Seungmin laughs, barely able to suppress the noise before it leaves his mouth, but Jeongin laughs, loud and unrestrained.

“You’re whipped.” Seungmin says as Jeongin calms down. “But if you want, I can try sort something out with Winter Kisses for you?” Seungmin suggests and Hyunjin thinks it over, before coming to his final answer.

“No.”

“No?” Jeongin all but shrieks, and Hyunjin shoots him a glare.

“I’m too scared. So no.” Hyunjin says, taking a sip of his drink so he doesn’t start crying over his own cowardice. Seungmin pouts at him and Jeongin has a confused look on his face.

“Fine. I’m staying here and working with the company until December 21st. You have until then if you change your mind.” Seungmin says and Hyunjin appreciates the younger still keeping the line open for him.

“Maybe…”

*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*

“Hey, is it okay if Chan joins us for the last thirty minutes of practice today? We’re getting food after, so he didn’t wanna go home just to come all the way back.” Felix asks when Hyunjin and him are taking a break from dancing. They’d been in the practice room for four hours now, and Hyunjin swears he’s so close to pinning down this one move that keeps escaping him.

“Sure. Can I come with you to get food, or is this an Aussie bros thing only?” Hyunjin asks, brushing his sweat-dripping bangs away from his forehead. His breathing is slightly rushed, and he focuses on that, trying to get it to still again, rather than focusing on (potentially) hanging out with Chan.

“Of course.” Felix says and it’s not a teasing tone from the younger, which Hyunjin greatly appreciates. He’s about had enough of the teasing from Felix, Seungmin and Jeongin over the past couple of days, so he’s glad the younger decided to dial it back a bit.

The two get back to dancing and around two hours later, Chan enters the room. Felix stops and runs over to greet the older whilst Hyunjin takes the little break as an opportunity to drink some water and wipe the sweat off of his skin.

“Hi Hyunjin.” Chan says and Hyunjin says ‘hi’ back, hoping the flush from dancing hides the blush on his cheeks. Chan was so gorgeous and Hyunjin genuinely didn’t think he could continue on with his dancing anymore. Not in the same calm, calculated manner as before, at least. Felix smirks then, and Hyunjin glares at him momentarily.

“Come on Hyunjin, let’s show Chan the dance we’ve been working on.” Felix chirps and Hyunjin wonders if Felix would still run around after having his head taken off, like a chicken. Hyunjin takes another sip of water before standing up and joining Felix in the centre of the room again. Chan starts the music for them this time and Hyunjin keeps his eyes on his own reflection, determined to not find himself staring at Chan.

The dance goes quickly. It’s a smooth and artistic piece and Hyunjin is very proud of the work him and Felix have put into it but when they stop and Felix asks Chan his opinion, Hyunjin can see something dangerous burning behind Chan’s eyes.

“It was amazing. Who choreographed it?” Chan asks, eyes still burning holes into Felix even when the younger turns to grab his towel. Hyunjin hates the look and feels a deep curiosity settle into his bones. Why was Chan glaring at Felix, his best fucking friend?

“I did.” Hyunjin answers, willing his mind to focus on something else. “With the help of a friend and with some help from Felix.” Chan looks at him then, eyes brightening instantly, and Hyunjin feels something burn within his gut, his heart racing faster.

“It’s amazing, Hyunjin. You did such a good job.” Chan says and Hyunjin blushes at the praise, mumbling a small thank you. He turns to grab his own stuff and is instantly met with Felix smirking at him. He whispers a small shut it the younger who just laughs.

“Should we wrap up now? I’m starving.” Felix says and Chan and Hyunjin share similar sentiments, so they all wrap up and head to the restaurant.

It’s a small and pretty affordable ramyeon restaurant, but it’s good, nearby, student friendly, and Hyunjin knows one of his classmates, Wooyoung, works there part-time. Felix gets them a table and when Chan slides into the booth next to Hyunjin instead of Felix, Hyunjin flushes red. Why was he sitting so close?

A waitress (that somehow Felix knows?) comes by a few minutes later to take their order before Felix turns to them and starts discussing Christmas.

“So, are you guys doing anything exciting for Christmas? I know Jeongin is taking Seungmin home to his parents.” Felix says, lips pursed out in thought and Hyunjin thinks it over. He’s staying at university, as is Felix, but he isn’t sure about Chan.

“I’m staying here. I know you are too Felix, but what about you Hyunjin? You heading home soon?” Chan asks, eyes fixed on Hyunjin’s face and Hyunjin can only hope his skin isn’t the colour of Christmas ribbon right now.

“I’m staying here too. Maybe we could spend Christmas together or something? All three of us, I mean.” Hyunjin is quick to clarify when he hears Felix stifle a laugh. Chan smiles at him, his eyes thinning into crescents, before he responds.

“I’d love that.” Chan says, eyes still never once leaving Hyunjin’s face and Hyunjin appreciates it when Wooyoung himself comes over to deliver their food.

“Hyunjinnie! Hi.” Wooyoung says as he hands the bowls of food out, before shuffling into the booth next to Felix. “I’m on break now, don’t worry, you were my last lot.” Wooyoung clarifies and Hyunjin laughs softly. Trust Wooyoung to find them during his break.

Hyunjin and Felix are quick to sink into conversation with Wooyoung in between bites of their food, but Chan stays quiet, which worries Hyunjin. Chan is usually the first to chat with a new person, apart from the sunshine-personified that was Felix. Hyunjin thinks maybe he’ll ask Felix to check in on Chan later.

“Welp, breaks over.” Wooyoung pouts and Hyunjin playfully coos at him, not missing the way Chan huffs from beside him. “I gotta finalise my plans for the Winter Kisses thing I’m doing.” Wooyoung continues and Hyunjin perks up at that.

“Winter Kisses? What about it?” Hyunjin asks, eyes fixed pointedly on Wooyoung. Wooyoung smiles, a bright gummy thing, before looking around the room. Wooyoung looks back, seemingly content with his surroundings, before leaning in to whisper to the table anyways.

“I’m using the programme to confess to Sannie. You know San, right?” Wooyoung asks and Hyunjin nods, a big smile on his face.

“Since when did you like San?” Hyunjin asks, tone cocky and playful and Wooyoung whines at him playfully. “I’m just joking. You two are painfully obvious. Hopefully it goes well!” Hyunjin continues and Wooyoung smiles at him, before the girl from before comes over to chastise Wooyoung.

“Wooyoung, your break is over, stop chit-chatting.” The girl says and Wooyoung smiles at her before standing up.

“Sorry Lia. Lost track of time.” Wooyoung says and Hyunjin snorts, hiding his laughter behind his hand. The girl, Lia, just rolls her eyes before stalking off, her brown ponytail swinging behind her. Wooyoung shoots them one final grin before wandering off. The three all return back to eating, in silence this time, and Hyunjin feels an uneasiness settle over the table. Felix pulls up his phone, quickly tapping away, before locking it again and when Hyunjin looks at his phone thirty seconds later, he sees that Felix had texted him.

Lixie: Chan’s jealous. You should speak to him.

Hyunjin huffs and locks his phone, ignoring the message.

I have an idea, Felix, Hyunjin thinks, before focusing back on his food. A much better idea than just talking to him.

*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*

December 20th finds Hyunjin standing outside the small office room that the Winter Kisses programme has dubbed as theirs. He can’t bring himself to knock, but he also can’t bring himself to turn tail and flee. It’s only when the door opens and Seungmin stands in the doorway, shocked at the presence of Hyunjin, that his confidence finally decides to shrivel up and die for good. He goes to turn to leave but Seungmin grabs his arm and pulls him into the room. The room has been decorated prettily, a large white Christmas tree in the corner decorated with a wide variety of purple ornaments and Hyunjin guesses Seungmin was in charge of the colours this year.

Seungmin drags him to a table space that has two disgustingly-coloured yellow couches around it. Jeongin is curled up on one, fast asleep, and Seungmin immediately goes to that one, lifting Jeongin’s head up gently to place it on his lap when he sits down. Hyunjin awws at the sight, knowing that if Jeongin was awake, Seungmin would’ve never let the younger rest in his lap. Seungmin’s vulnerability is a rare but beautiful thing, in Hyunjin’s opinion.

“So what’s your plan?” Seungmin asks, voice quiet so as to not disturb Jeongin, and Hyunjin smiles at that, before focusing back on Seungmin’s words.

“What about a scavenger hunt? I think it’d be fun.” Seungmin says, eyes wide as the ideas burst to life within him and Hyunjin thinks it over.

“That…could work. We’d probably need Felix’s help though.” Hyunjin mumbles and Seungmin pulls out his phone.

“Lemme ask him now then.” Seungmin says. He calls Felix and the two exchange quick words, Hyunjin assuming Felix had agreed based on what Seungmin was saying, and when the call is finally done, Seungmin faces Hyunjin with a grin. “He’s on board.”

“Great. Now, let’s get into the details.”

--

The two boys work for two hours until Jeongin wakes up and joins in. And then fifteen minutes later Felix joins them.

The four of them make a solid plan – Seungmin and Jeongin will get up early to plant all the parts of the trail around the university campus. The trail consists of post-it notes containing hints that’ll lead Chan around and witty lines that’ll hopefully make him laugh, as well as some goodies that Felix had willingly donated to the cause. It’ll lead through a few of the spaces that Chan knows best, until finally landing in the dance practice room where Hyunjin will be waiting to ask Chan out.

It's scary, having this plan cemented and put into place, but with Seungmin, Felix and Jeongin by his side, Hyunjin feels ready to face it all.

Hyunjin finishes writing the last little post-it note, the ‘xoxo’ in red ink against the pink paper staring back at him, before folding it up and putting it onto the tiny little pile with a sigh. Jeongin is fast asleep against Seungmin again, and Seungmin keeps looking at the younger fondly. With a sigh, Hyunjin stands up, his legs popping from the lack of movement.

“Well, tomorrow is the day. I’m gonna head home and get some rest. Thanks for this, all of you. It means a lot.” Hyunjin says, voice thick with sleepiness and Felix and Seungmin wish him goodnight before he turns and leaves. When the Winter Kisses office door shuts behind him, Hyunjin sighs, whispering to himself.

“You’ve got this, Hwang Hyunjin.”

*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*

Chan wakes up with a pink post it note stuck to his forehead. He pulls it off and reads over it.

Someone wants to give you a Winter Kiss!
Follow the hints to find out who the mysterious person is!
Hint: Your first stop is Felix’s favourite lecture hall.
-XOXO

Chan flushes lightly at that, a bright smile on his face. Someone was using the Winter Kisses system to confess to him. Chan feels fuzzy with excitement, and he quickly slips out of bed, freshening up and changing into some comfortable, warm clothes before embarking out to follow the clues.

Felix’s favourite lecture hall was the big one with the bright yellow walls in the Library Block. It was at the very end of the Library Block and was the only lecture hall in there. Chan knew the hall would be empty and so when he finally gets to the hall, he pushes the door open without hesitation. There’s a singular neon pink post it note pressed against a bag of something sitting atop the table that Felix always sits at, and Chan makes his way over to read it.

Congratulations – you’re a smart cookie.
Speaking of cookies – these are all yours!
Hint: You spend most of your time here.
-XOXO

Chan smiles, happily tucking the cookies into the pocket of his hoodie before making his way out of the Library Block, towards the Music Block. Where else does he spend most of his time other than the studio room?

Chan quickly unlocks the door, pushing it open and spotting the neon-pink sticky note on the monitor. He smiles at the sight. Only three notes in and they are already a familiar and comforting presence. There’s another bag on the desk this time, containing one singular cookie that Chan immediately notices is decorated to look like a wolf, and he smiles. Cute. He pockets it with the other cookies before reading over the new note.

You should spend less time here, ya know?
Have a wolf cookie – your sleep schedule matches theirs.
Hint: Our company office!
-XOXO

With a huff, Chan sets off to find wherever the fuck the Winter Kisses office is. He vaguely remembers Felix mentioning it being near the student union, so he starts there. He finds the SU room and heads down that corridor, checking every door sign. At the end, with a scuffed-up door with a patchwork decoration consisting of only messy wrapping paper, is a sign that reads “Winter Kisses” and Chan huffs.

“Finally.” He mumbles. This corridor is quiet and empty, and Chan finds it weird. He sighs, pushing aside the thought, before twisting the door handle and entering the room. It’s completely empty, the lights off, and the barest hint of light peeking through the not-quite-closed blue curtains. Chan flicks the light switch, looking around for the neon pink post-it note and spots it hanging off of one of the branches of the white Christmas tree that sits big and bright in the corner of the room. Chan stalks over and carefully detangles it from the white tree.

Great, you found our headquarters!
Look under the tree, there’s a little gift there for you.
Hint: Where you first met Changbin and Jisung.
-XOXO

Chan reaches under the tree, pulling out the little present and quickly opens it, the sticky note still crumpled in his hand. It’s a really simple cute necklace that he remembers mentioning to Felix. Who did Felix know that would wanna confess to Chan? Chan knows it isn’t Felix himself, the younger already deep in a relationship with Changbin, so who could it be? Again, it couldn’t be Jisung, the younger was dating a student called Minho. Chan huffs, pocketing the necklace alongside the cookies before throwing away the wrapping paper and rereading the note again.

“Where I first met Changbin and Jisung?” Chan mutters to himself. He doesn’t actually know. He thinks it over before an idea comes to him. “Music Block Lecture Hall 13.” Chan mumbles again and turns to leave the Winter Kisses office, hurrying to the Music Block. He finds the oh so familiar door and stops in front of it when he spots the pink post-it note on the door handle, along with an envelope taped to the door that reads ‘For Chan’. There’s a small Do Not Bend note on the bottom corner and Chan smiles at that, finding the little detail odd. Curious about the contents of the envelope, Chan opens it and slides out the singular piece inside, before gasping in shock.

It's a beautiful piece of art of him, drawn with painstaking attention to detail and Chan thinks he vaguely recognises the style. He studies the picture for a while longer, taking in the beautiful attention to detail the artist had given to his face, and then it clicks. Felix has a drawing of himself in this similar style that had been given to him by Hyunjin. Chan accepts the realisation until it really kicks in.

“Hyunjin?!” Chan whispers, confused. Why would Hyunjin, of all people, like him, of all people? “I gotta get to the end of this.” Chan mutters as he tucks the art back into the envelope and picks up the pink post-it note.

Congratulations – you’re at the final note!
The next step is to find your secret admirer.
Hint: Felix’s favourite place.
-XOXO

Chan feels happiness burn within him at the realisation that this is the final hint. No more zipping back and forth across campus trying to find notes. One last stop.

As he crosses campus to get to the Sport Centre, Chan thinks over all the treats he’s been given so far. The cookies must’ve been Felix’s work and Felix must’ve told the admirer (Hyunjin?) about the necklace. The art was just pretty and definitely screamed Hyunjin.

“Hyunjin, huh?” Chan mutters as he scans his ID and opens the door to the Sports Centre. It’s a bit more active than other places due to the 24/7 gym, but Chan doesn’t mind the noise. It keeps his brain busy and helps remove the uneasiness that had settled in his bones from being in the quietness of other blocks earlier.

Chan makes his way to the practice room Felix and Hyunjin use, not noticing when Felix, Seungmin and Jeongin start to follow after him. He finds the room and pushes the door open to find Hyunjin sitting there, long legs crossed, and his eyes focused on a book. He doesn’t look up when Chan walks in, eyes too focused on the book, and Chan finds himself smiling at the sight. He coughs to catch Hyunjin’s attention and the younger jumps, book flying from his hands and Chan feels terrible for startling the younger.

“Chan! Hi.” Hyunjin asks, standing up and dusting himself off before walking over to Chan. “I’m guessing you got all the notes and gifts?” He asks, his cheeks a bright red and Chan mentally laughs at how adorable Hyunjin is, but he also mentally chastises himself for never noticing it before.

“I did. I appreciate them all Hyunjin, thank you.” Chan says and Hyunjin nods, still avoiding eye contact with Chan and Chan laughs softly. “Is there anything else?” Chan asks and Hyunjin looks up then, eyes wide.

“Just, just me. Sorry. I get that may be disappointing.” Hyunjin says, words trailing off into a mumble as insecurity seeps into him, his head tilting back down to stare at the hardwood floor below them. Chan frowns at that and steps forward, using his index finger to lift Hyunjin’s chin. The younger’s eyes are wide and shiny and so beautiful, and Chan feels a thousand forms of inspiration flit into his brain, a million songs forming themselves in the far reaches of his mind as he takes in the sight of Hyunjin before him.

“You are not disappointing at all, Hyunjin.” Chan says, his voice quieter so as to not shatter the aura that has settled around the pair. “In fact I’m pleasantly surprised someone like you would ever like someone like me.” Chan says, a light laugh leaving his lips, and Hyunjin’s eyebrows furrow then.

“Why wouldn’t I like you?” Hyunjin asks, eyebrows still drawn tight together. “You’re so sweet and dedicated to helping people and you always make sure Felix eats and gets home safe and you’re always taking time out of your day to ask me how I am and how I’m coping even though we barely know each other. And, and that’s just your personality. Don’t even get me started on how hot you are like seriously, Chan, you could be a model or something. But I also know that you’d hate that because you prefer when the attention is on other people and oh god I’m rambling, please shut me up before I embarrass myself any-mph!” Chan cuts Hyunjin off then, pressing a kiss against the younger’s lips. Chan smiles when Hyunjin kisses back, his hands lacing around Chan’s neck, and Chan deepens the kiss until Hyunjin pulls back slightly, panting and out of breath and Chan laughs then, deep and loud, and Hyunjin smiles through his panting.

“You are so adorable, Hyunjin.” Chan says. His own cheeks are tinged red from all the things Hyunjin had said prior, but its nothing compared to the vicious flush that paints Hyunjin’s cheeks at Chan’s simple words. Hyunjin just hmphs, pulling Chan into a hug and burying his face in Chan’s neck and Chan just laughs, hugging the younger back and enjoying the feeling of having such a cute person in his arms. Even when footsteps come into the room behind them, Chan and Hyunjin don’t move, staying locked in each other’s embrace.

“Finally.” Felix says and only then does Hyunjin pull away, glaring at Felix over Chan’s shoulder.

“You’re welcome for the help.” Seungmin says, arm linked with Jeongin’s. The youngest has a big smile on his face as he nods in agreement and Hyunjin huffs, mumbling a small thank you from beside Chan. Chan smiles at how cute Hyunjin is and wraps his arm around Hyunjin’s waist, pulling the younger into his side. The yelp Hyunjin lets out is so cute that Chan can’t help but laugh at it, which causes the entire group of people in the room to burst into laughter.

“Thank you, Seungmin. You’re help was invaluable.” Hyunjin says when everyone has finally calmed down, and the room had settled into silence.

“Anytime.” Seungmin waves off, a light hint of pink on his cheeks and Chan smiles at that. The sound of Felix’s stomach growling has everyone turning to face him and he flushes.

“Sorry, I skipped breakfast.” He says, sheepishly as he scratches at the back of his neck. Chan looks at him, a disappointed look on his face and Felix coils up, away from Chan and his scrutinising look.

“You shouldn’t do that Lix. It’s not healthy.” Chan says before standing up. “Come on everyone, let’s go to the ramyeon place nearby. My treat.” Chan says, holding his hand out to Hyunjin, the younger gracefully snatching his hand up.

“Oh yes, we can see how San and Wooyoung got on!” Seungmin says, clapping excitedly and the look Jeongin gives him makes Chan want to vomit, but he knows he probably just as bad as the younger.

The five of them make it to the ramyeon joint, a blonde girl greeting them and taking their orders before they settle in a smooth conversation at the booth they find themselves situated in. When their food comes, it’s Wooyoung once more, and just like last time, he joins them at the booth for his break.

“So, how did the plan go?” Seungmin asks as he waits for his noodles to cool a little, unlike Jeongin who had dug in already and has to keep pausing to breathe from how hot the food is.

“It went amazingly! Still can’t believe he likes me back. He’s going home tomorrow so after my shift we’re gonna have a chill movie night and then have a proper date when we return in January!” Wooyoung rambles in between bites of his own noodles. Chan is glad that his original assumption about Wooyoung was wrong, and that actually, Wooyoung had someone else he liked that wasn’t Hyunjin.

Chan eats his own noodles as he listens in on the conversation, laughing occasionally at one of Wooyoung’s quips, his hand never leaving Hyunjin’s thigh. It’s only when Wooyoung shifts to talk to Hyunjin that he notices Chan’s closeness to Hyunjin, and he gasps.

“You two are a thing?” Wooyoung nearly shouts and Hyunjin giggles, a cute sound that has Chan’s heart leaping in his chest, before responding.

“I think so? I mean, we didn’t really speak about it.” Hyunjin trails off in realisation and Chan laughs, squeezing Hyunjin’s thigh softly.

“I’d like to be a thing.” Chan says and Hyunjin squeaks but nods his head in agreement and Chan turns to Wooyoung then, a wide smile on his lips. “We’re a thing.”

“Adorable. Truly.” Wooyoung says, a genuine smile on his lips, before he turns back to his food. “And Lix, how are you and Changbin?” Wooyoung continues around a mouthful of noodles and Felix smiles, swallowing his food, before responding.

“Great as always. Although I miss him so much right now.” Felix says, a light pout on his lips and Chan coos at that. Changbin had gone home for the holidays three days ago and Felix had been whining and pouting about it non-stop since then. Wooyoung hums in acknowledgement, and the table eventually settles back into silence before the blonde girl from earlier comes over.

“Wooyoung. Break’s over.” She says and Wooyoung huffs, slurping up the rest of his food before standing up.

“Yeah, yeah, thanks for reminding me Tracey. Bye guys, talk to you later!” Wooyoung says, taking his bowl and chopsticks with him and following after the blonde girl. The two get into a heated debate by the looks of it and Chan smiles at that for a brief moment before focusing back on his table, where Felix smirks at him.

“Glad to know you like Wooyoung now.” Felix says and Hyunjin makes a confused noise to Chan’s right. “Not like that. Just glad he isn’t glaring Wooyoung down every time he sees him like he did before.” Felix clarifies, bursting into laughter alongside the others on the table, and Chan huffs.

“Shut it Yongbok.”
