Summary: In which Fred Weasley got Lee’s letter.
I’ll be there
Fred Weasley frowned when he finished the letter from Lee Jordan.
I don’t know if it’s a date or if they’re friends, but I heard Potter is going to Hogsmeade with Addams. They seem to be friends, and they’ve grown closer in the last few weeks.
What was he going to tell George?
How was he going to tell George?
Sighing, Fred crushed the letter in his fist.
George had fancied Hattie for years. He nearly asked her to the Yule Ball last year. He hesitated after hearing Diggory asked Hattie only to be turned down. A day later, Hattie was attending the Ball with Longbottom.
Fred left Verity at the register before he headed down to the basement. George was working on a few products. As he descended, Fred heard a few explosions and some muttered curses from his twin.
“How’s it going, George?” Fred asked, eyeing the workspace and his brother. Two caldrons were smoking and there were a few singed parts on his robes.
George shot his twin brother a glare. “Great,” he replied. “I haven’t burned the building down.”
Fred smirked. “Or blown anything up,” he added.
“This week,” George muttered.
Laughing a little, Fred walked to his brother’s side.
“What do you need?” George asked.
“Nothing,” Fred answered. “This is a social visit.”
Eyes narrowed, George stared at his twin.
Fred flushed. “We got a letter from Lee,” he explained.
George nodded, turning to check on one of the caldrons. “How are Ronnikins and Gin-Gin?” he asked.
“They’re fine,” Fred answered. “Ginny’s a decent Seeker.”
“Bet she’s got nothing on Hattie,” he commented with a fond smile.
Fred barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes. It was embarrassing how much George liked Hattie.
“Did he have anything on Hattie?” George asked, picking up a potion vial that contained an orange liquid.
Fred eyed the orange liquid. Had George finished Otters Fizzy Orange Juice? “Not much,” he answered, trying to lie.
George’s eyes narrowed. “You’re lying,” he stated.
Shrugging, Fred looked down at the crushed parchment in his hand. “It’s,” he managed only to pause.
“Is something wrong with Hattie?” George asked, concern in his tone.
“It’s complicated,” Fred decided to say.
George’s eyes narrowed.
“It seems little Hattikins is close to Addams,” Fred explained, trying to be vague.
“Maeve or Kieran?” George’s grip on the potion vial tightened.
“Kieran. Lee said they’re going to Hogsmeade together.”
The potion vial in George’s hand broke. Pieces of glass littered the floor and orange liquid leaked from George’s fist.
Pulling out his wand, Fred banished the glass. “Open,” he hissed, moving his wand closer to George’s fist.
George opened his fist. There were pieces of glass in his hand.
With a wave of Fred’s wand, the remaining glass was banished. “It isn’t clear if Hattie and Addams friends or dating,” he muttered.
George remained quiet.
“The next Hogsmeade weekend is in two weeks,” Fred continued. “I’m changing the schedule. Yurika is willing to cover.”
“Guess I need to send Lee an owl,” George muttered. “And I own Yurika.”
