Work Text:

Lewis stood under the shade of the McLaren garage, watching in awe as the snowflakes slowly fell from the sky, painting the whole circuit white in a matter of minutes.

The preseason testing was halted all together, although the teams had prepared for the predicted rain, maybe some strong winds, nothing in the forecast pointed towards snow. He was the only one left outside, his team preferring the warmth of the radiators to the beautiful scenery outside, while Jenson was too busy taking a nap to keep him company.

So being left alone, and bored out of his mind, he’d put on the longest coat he could find over his suit, leaving his team to conduct as many tests as possible under the circumstances. Maybe he could convince them later to let him do a lap in the snow, tell them it’s a bucket list thing or something. It wasn’t often, he thought, that you could witness the track disappearing in front of your eyes.

The air wasn’t too cold, it shyly pinched his cheeks and hands reminding Lewis this wasn’t his type of weather. He took out one of the tyre blankets and wrapped it around himself as a makeshift warmer, before jumping onto one of the boxes and tucking his legs under the warm material. The snow kept falling, a beautiful reminder of the silence that will disappear when the season starts.

He was so entranced with the snow that he didn’t notice someone approaching him, or calling his name, until a warm hand touched his shoulder making him jump slightly.

“Ah!” he squealed, too surprised to stop the sound from coming out.

In front of him stood a very amused blonde, “Did I interrupt your daydreaming?” Sebastian asked, biting his lips to try and hide his grin.

Lewis tried to shove him away in retaliation, but the chamber of warmth around him stopped him from letting go of the tyre blanket. He was left with nothing, except a pair of rosy cheeks and a pout, to defend himself against Sebastian, which only made his situation worse.

“No, no, I- I was just watching the snow and got carried away…” he mumbled, looking away from the giggling driver next to him.

Sebastian shook his head, gently hitting his shoulder to make him look back at him, “You didn’t even hear me call your name?”

He shook his head in disappointment, “I’m not that rude to just ignore someone.” If there was one thing Lewis wouldn’t miss for the world, it was Sebastian’s way of pronouncing his name.

“I know, I know.” Sebastian stepped closer, motioning towards the box he was settled on, “You’re also nice enough to share this new blanket with me!”

“Hey!” Lewis protested, but there wasn’t much bite to his words, “Seb, mate, I just got warm enough.” His need to stay warm disappeared instantly, quickly replaced with the bubbling excitement that came in whenever Sebastian and he accidentally touched.

Sebastian giggled in victory. Lewis let him.

He moved over, leaving the once impenetrable ball of warmth he’d created against the cold, and opened up the tire blanket to cover both of them. Sebastian jumped up on the box, sitting down a lot closer than he expected pressing their thighs close together. He took the corner of the blanket out of Lewis’ hand and wrapped it around them safely, then suddenly leaned in across Lewis, grabbed the other corner out of his hand and pulled on the strings hard before tying them in the middle. Lewis felt the jolt of lighting go through his body, their bodies now incredibly close, closer than ever before, close enough for him to see the beautiful shades of green in Sebastian’s eyes.

Sebastian was smiling back at him, but didn’t seem to mind the closeness, “Good?” he asked, his voice sweet and gentle.

Lewis nodded, somehow snow wasn’t so interesting after all. He couldn't help but stare at the mess of dirty blonde hair under his beanie, he’d noticed the shorter strands a few days ago.
If he didn’t control himself, Lewis could do something stupid like run his hand though Sebastian’s hair, which looked perfectly soft and pretty, and Lewis really wanted to touch it.

“You cut your hair?” he asked, although it was more of a statement than a question.

Sebastian shyly touched the back of his neck, “A little bit, it got too long, and got kinda messy. You like it?”

The glance he sent Lewis’ way made him think he might not make it, that he needed to calm himself down before his heart gave up on him. He tried really hard not to stare at those sparkling green eyes, but it was too tempting when Sebastian was so so close, waiting earnestly for the response.

Lewis shook his head, “Not really...” he said, pressing his lips in a tight line trying to keep a serious face, but failing.

Sebastian jokingly hit his leg, his voice soft and light, but he didn’t seem too convinced it was a joke, “Is it that bad?”

“It looks great, I was just teasing,” he couldn’t hide the smile taking over his lips. His whole body felt tingly, whether it had something to do with the cold, or with the body pressed against his he didn’t want to know.

Sebastian stayed quiet, looking at him with those eyes while biting his lips.

He couldn't help it, reaching out his hand he brushed the stand off his forehead and tucked it back into place, “Just a little shorter, nobody’s going to notice it will grow back in a few weeks.”

“You did.” Sebastian said, somehow leaning even closer.

“Well I-I’m—” Lewis felt his face being lit on fire, caught in his own trap he could do nothing but look at Sebastian’s smirk. “Shut up!” he groaned, knocking their shoulders together, making him laugh.

Sebastian didn’t listen, instead he continued to laugh while faking a wounded shoulder, or heart, he was holding his chest without much accuracy, “Now everyone’s going to be looking at my hair!”, he sighed in dramatic fashion between bursts of giggles, “What will I do?”

Lewis really, really wished he’d gone to bed. His cheeks were still warm, his heart still beat too loud for it to be normal. And Sebastian was still making him feel breathless.

“They’re going to be looking at you no matter the hair,” he said, looking out into the white cover outside their little hiding spot, trying not to look back at the blonde next to him, “It’s your own fault, stop whining!”

Sebastian straightened up, his mouth wide open in shock, “How?!”

“You put a golden number 1 on your car!” Lewis snorted.

Sebastian bit his lower lip, whatever comeback he had held back as his eyes scanned Lewis’ face looking for a way out. He pulled the blanket closer, it kept falling lower when Sebastian moved around making the already lacking cover even less effective.

“Well I won, didn’t I?” Sebastian mumbled, his voice quiet and a little bit unsure, but still very much sweet.

Lewis smiled, but said nothing. It was a little bit cruel to keep doing this to him, but he couldn’t help it, the ‘World Champion’ confidence looked good on him, but so did the blushing mess and bubbling shyness.

Sebastian was still looking at him with hope in his eyes, “I should be allowed to celebrate my first championship, I didn’t do it for someone else.”

“No, I just… it’s a new season, you’re not the winner anymore,” he paused for a quick moment, trying to think of the right words to say, “...so putting on the number 1 is very bold considering we haven’t even started.”

He was teasing more than anything, but at the same time he knew the pressure of the title, knew very well what being proud can be seen as.

“Yes, I'm not but still-” Sebastian groaned, throwing his head back as he looked up at the ceiling above, the light falling perfectly over his face, leaving Lewis unable to take his eyes off him. His eyelashes fluttered gently as he closed his eyes before taking a deep breath, as he turned back to Lewis staring deep into his eyes with nothing but pure desire.

“The only thing I can do now is win it. Again.” he whispered, his smile making Lewis’ heart jump out of his chest.

“Yeah, you could do that,” he replied, no longer feeling the bites of the wind on his skin for some reason.

Lewis had spent so long trying to figure out the messed up feelings in his chest that the moment of realisation was nothing more than blink. He looked so beautiful like this, tucked in next to him like he belonged there, like he never wanted to leave, like he’d been waiting for him.

“Pretty.. ” he whispered carelessly, leaning in close enough to make Sebastian’s breath hitch, “...the snow is really pretty.”

Sebastian nodded back slowly, but didn’t say anything as a shiver passed though his body, strong enough for him to feel it.

Lewis wrapped his hands around Sebastian’s, feeling the cold skin underneath, “Are you cold? Do you want me to warm you up?” he asked.

“Warm… me up?” he stuttered, his eyes widening in surprise. It was only a tiny glance, a piece of a second, but Lewis saw it, he saw Sebastian’s eyes lower at his lips.

Lewis swallowed hard, “There’s more tire blankets over there, I can bring them…or I could… ” he cut himself off.

“You could… ?” Sebastian unknowingly squeezed his hand, his voice hopeful in a way he’d never heard before.

“I could kiss you.”

“Kiss me?”

Lewis gently cupped his cheek, closing the remaining distance between them and tenderly pressed their lips together. His lips were as soft as he’d imagined them, warm, and waiting patiently. Sebastian’s body practically melted into his, a whine leaving his lips as their bodies wrapped perfectly together. Holding him there in his arms made him forget everything else, forget the cold, forget where they were, the only thing on his mind was Sebastian.

They pulled away for a second, pressing their foreheads together. Lewis couldn’t stop smiling, not when Sebastian had a deeply red blush taking over his cheeks, not when he kept his eyes firmly on their hands clasped together, refusing to look away.

Lewis wanted nothing more than to show him how much he wanted this, lifting his hand and kissing the back of it with as much love as he could show. Sebastian pressed closer looking for another kiss, but Lewis had better plans, turning his head he kissed the corner of his lips, then proceeded to nibble and kiss his cheeks. Sebastian started to laugh as he continued to place a couple of kisses on his jaw, throat, then moving back to his eyes and nose. It wasn’t until Sebastian grabbed his face and held him still that Lewis gave him a second kiss.

They continued to share kisses trapped in their own world, that was until a very family voice was heard in the background, silently cheering to themselves, “Good lad! Knew you could do it!”

They pulled away in a hurry, Lewis recognizing the huddled figure in the back, “Jenson?!”

The tall brunette cursed himself loudly before coming out of his hiding spot with two cups in his hands, “Hey mate!”

“Shit.” Sebastian tried to get up, but the tied blanket kept him in place, as well as Lewis’ hand that was tightly wrapped around his waist. Lewis on the other hand was still too shocked to move.

Jenson walked towards them with a sort of casualness that made both of them embarrassed, “Didn’t mean to interrupt the date, no worries, no, no sit down, here take this.” he said, as he handed them two steaming cups of hot chocolate.

“Mate, it's not what you think-” Lewis took the hot cup, trying to sound casual but looking anything but.

“It’s proper chilly out here, come on boys don’t be stupid,” he skipped a few steps to the box at the back draggin two more tire blankets, plugging them in before he draped them over the panicked drivers.

Sebastian nodded his head in thanks but was too stunned to say anything, and while Lewis was cut off before he could think of something by Jenson put a hand on his shoulder, “Proud of you Lew, I mean it was about time you did something,” he turned to Sebastian, winking, “don’t worry, love birds, I won’t tell anyone... except Mark, he owes me some money.”

Lewis blinked at him, “Jenson, listen, thanks but it’s not what…”

Jenson waved his hand in the air, already walking away, “Okay? Okay. Take care,” he opened the door, before turning one last time with a teasing smirk, “Don’t have too much fun, you’re in public!”

They looked at each other then at the cups of hot chocolate in their hands before bursting out in laughter. There was no doubt the teasing from Jenson and Mark was going to be merciless, but it didn’t matter right now, as the additional blankets managed to make their little hiding spot even more comfy.

“I’m going to kill him,” Lewis leaned his head on Sebastian’s shoulder, letting out a deep breath.

“Mark too.” Sebastian added, leaving a kiss on his forehead before taking a sip.

“Yeah,” he mumbled. It didn’t seem real. Sebastian didn’t seem real. Glancing at his face he realised he’d give anything to keep this going, to keep the feeling in his chest from burning out. Lewis pressed another kiss to his neck making him giggle and push him away, the sound of his laughter alone making his body tingle, his mind get dizzy with want.

“Warm enough?” he teased, leaning in just to keep their bodies as close as possible.

Sebastian rolled his eyes in pretend annoyance, “Mmmhm, yeah but… my lips are a little cold.”

“Are they? I wonder-” Lewis didn’t have the time to finish his sentence as a pair of lips captured his.
