You, Me and Her
“Just ignore them, mate,” Ron Weasley whispered to his best friend as they passed Hufflepuffs in the corridors after Divination.
The Hufflepuffs were taunting and jeering at Harry. Their behavior hadn’t changed in the last few weeks since Harry’s name came out of the Goblet of Fire.
Harry Potter nodded. His face was a mask of indifference.
Ron sighed, wishing Hermione was with them. He didn’t like when Harry acted like this.
The pair were headed to meet Hermione in the library. Hermione was mad at researching a way for Harry to get out of the Triwizard Tournament. They had ten days until the First Task. Ron and Hermione were determined to find a way to get Harry out of the Tournament. This Tournament stopped because people died . For some reason, someone thought it was a good idea to bring it back with an age limit – and Harry was under the age limit.
As they walked through the corridor, Ron stole a glance at his best friend. Since his name came out of the Goblet of Fire, Harry had closed himself off. Ron didn’t blame him since most of the school turned against him, but Harry had even closed himself off to his best friends.
Reaching out, Ron grabbed his best friend’s wrist before pulling him into a shadowed corner, partly hidden by a suit of armor.
“Mate,” Ron began, “we’re here for you.”
Harry tensed, refusing to meet Ron’s glaze.
“It’s you, me and Hermione,” Ron continued. “Just us.”
A silence fell over them.
“I saw you two,” Harry admitted, his voice soft.
Ron frowned. What had Harry seen? Ron and Hermione had come to an understanding over the summer and they were working on issues between them.
“It’s you and Hermione,” Harry said, ripping his arm from Ron’s hold as he turned to face his best friend. There was a fury in his green eyes. “And me. I’m alone .”
A sense of dread filled Ron. His eyes widened. “The day after Halloween?” he asked.
Harry nodded.
“Mate,” Ron began, running a hand through his red hair. “It’s not what it looked like.”
Harry continued to glare. “I’ve been watching you since,” he added, his tone cold.
“Bloody hell,” Ron muttered, shaking his head. “Things between me and ‘Mione are, well, they’re complicated, mate.”
Shaking his head, Harry chuckled. “It doesn’t look so complicated when you’re snogging,” he stated.
Ron sighed. “It is,” he admitted weakly, shaking his hand. “Me and ‘Mione,” he paused for a second, “we’re trying to work things out between us for you .”
Harry’s eyes narrowed further and he pressed his lips together in a thin line.
“Mate, surely you know we both love you,” Ron began.
A look of shock flashed across Harry’s face before his mask of indifference replaced it.
Ron frowned. “‘Mione says I’m dense,” he said. “I’ve known she was in love with you since third year. It was around the same time I figured out my feelings, and I realized you were in love with her.
Snorting, Ron shook his head. “That’s partly why we were fighting last year,” he admitted. “Hermione realized I was in love with you, and you were in love with me.”
Panic filled Harry’s eyes.
Reaching out, Ron seized Harry’s wrist. “Since this summer we've been working out how to be together,” Ron explained, “ for you .”
Ron rested his forehead against Harry’s. “We both love you, and you love both of us,” he whispered. “And we’re both too honorable to make you choose, and we’re both too selfish to let you go.”
Harry grew less tense as he listened, staring up into Ron’s eyes.
“We agreed to all be in a relationship,” Ron explained. “And it made sense for us to figure out me and her first before we all became you, me, and her.”
“Really?” Harry whispered.
Instead of answering, Ron offered his best friend a smile before pressing their lips together.
Ron knew Hermione would kill him later, but this was worth it. The two were still figuring themselves out, but Ron knew it would work. He fancied that bushy-haired know-it-all. Honestly, he couldn’t see his life without her.
“Oh, boys,” Hermione Granger said, forcing the pair to end their kiss.
Ron looked over.
She had her arms crossed and her brown eyes looked teary.
He offered her an arm as he fought the urge to tease her about being emotional. He knew from Ginny that girls hated it when they were teased about their emotions.
Hermione eagerly wrapped an arm around Harry as Ron wrapped an arm around her.
The three of them leaned in close.
“You both owe me a kiss,” Hermione stated with a smirk.
Looking between the pair, Hermione’s eyes lingered on Harry’s lips.
She turned, placing a brief kiss on Ron’s lips. “It’s nothing personal,” she whispered, “but I’ve kissed you plenty.”
Smiling shyly, she turned her attention to Harry.
Ron watched as the pair slowly leaned into each other. It started as a shy and hesitant kiss but quickly grew passionate.
As he watched the pair, Ron was relieved to find he wasn’t jealous – which was his biggest fear. He was confident in his love for Harry, and Harry’s love for both of them.
Harry and Hermione broke apart.
Harry looked dazed and uncertain.
“This is real, mate,” Ron told him. “We love you.”
Hermione quickly added, “We’re both committed to you and each other.”
“It’s you, me and her,” Ron whispered.
