Shane glanced down at the sleeves covering his knuckles. “Oh. Huh. Must have grabbed it by mistake. We have similar… builds.”
Shane does not steal. Unfortunately, Ilya keeps leaving jackets behind, and Shane keeps reaching for clothes that aren’t his - clothes that smell like smoke and safety.
This is not a problem. It’s just a reasonable coping mechanism for bad games, and it definitely isn’t intimacy. Right?

Rozanov’s smile was all teeth. “Ah, yes. Is gift.”
Something tripped in Shane’s chest at the idea. Sure, they’d been hooking up for nearly half a decade by this point, but four frantic trysts a year did not a relationship make. Certainly not a relationship which included gifts.
“Oh. I mean– thank you.” The sincerity felt strange on his tongue, but Yuna and David Hollander raised Shane with goddamn manners, and if somebody gave you a gift you said fucking thank you.
Even if that someone was Ilya Rozanov. Even if he was looking at you with a Cheshire Cat smile that made you think you’d seriously missed an important piece of context.
Or: Five times Ilya and Shane got each other gifts that absolutely, categorically, 100% didn't mean anything, and one time they gave up pretending.

Cliff gapes at him.In which the hit that Cliff Marleau had on Shane Hollander goes a little different. For one, they’re in Boston. For another, Ilya realizes he might be panicking? Which is probably not something to do in the middle of a game. And, oh yeah, he just outed both himself and his not-boyfriend to an entire locker room of hockey players.
But that’s okay, because while Boston may be vicious, they do take care of their own. And they quickly realize that their captain’s happiness and willingness to stay with the Bears is tied to Shane Hollander. The solution is easy, they’ll just have to make Shane Hollander a Bear.

The Raiders learn about Hollanov in a different way. Shane is very confused. Ilya loves his team. I regret nothing.
(This takes place a few months before the great tuna melt fiasco.)
Some sex talk but mostly a lot of swearing. Also not related to my other fics really but some of the character portrayals, especially the Boston Raiders being all good guys, is in my other work too.
