Nile looked at Copley, who was coughing and sneezing, while he, at the same time, was trying to find the information they needed. Normally, Copley would either wear a suit or a sweater and some jeans, but this time, Copley had wrapped a scarf around his neck, worn sweatpants, and pulled a hoodie over his head.
Copley, after sneezing once again and blowing his nose: "Sorry that I can't work faster, but whatever my niece had, I also got."
Nile: "I do not miss the time when I got the flu. One of the good things about being immortal."
Copley just nodded as he continued working the best he could. If you asked Nile Copley, most of all, he reminded her of a teenager in his room right now, not the all-businessman he normally was.
Booker, as he stormed into the room: "Why the hell does it take so long to find an address?"
Copley both coughed and sneezed as a reply before blowing his nose.
Nile: "He got the flu."
Copley: "Working as fast as I can."
Booker walked over to the desk and handed Copley a hip flask.
Booker: "Take a mouthful of this."
Copley looked at the hip flask.
Copley: "Thanks, but I don't drink alcohol."
Nile looked at Booker.
Nile: "Book, you promised not to serve your homebrew to anyone anymore."
Booker: "It's not my homebrew. No, what is in this hip flask is something Nicky made. He calls it Crusade Tea and says it cures everything."
Copley looked at the hip flask before taking it. Then Copley took a sniff at the content and made a face when he smelled how strong it was.
Booker: "Better drink than ask questions about it, mate."
Copley took a sip of the content. It tasted even worse than it smelled, and it took everything Copley had not to spit it out. When Copley swallowed it, he could feel how his sore throat was now on fire. When Copley started coughing, Booker patted Copley on his back.
Booker "Give it a moment to work."
Copley didn't know what was in that hip flask, but for the first time in days, he felt better, and he was able to find the information they needed in a hurry. The moment after Copley handed Booker the paper, Copley collapsed on his keyboard. It made Nile rush over to the desk.
Nile: "Sebastien Le Livre, you bloody idiot. You know very well that mortals can't handle your homebrew."
Booker: "As I said, I didn't make it. It was Nicky. Take it up with him."
Nile took a deep sigh of relief when she found Copley's pulse, and it also helped that Copley was snoring.
Booker: "Let's move him over on the couch. In a couple of hours, he'll be back to normal. Even though he will have a headache."
Nile: "A headache? What was in the hip flask?"
Booker: "I don't know, but Nicky says he has been curing people with it since the Crusades, so whatever it is, it works. Both on mortals and immortals"
Nile placed a blanket over Copley before she took her phone.
Booker: "What are you doing?"
Nile: "Calling Nicky. I need to know if you gave Copley the right dose. because there's a difference between a mortal man and an immortal man."
Joe and Nicky were relaxing on the beach somewhere in Malta when the phone rang.
Joe: "Have you killed Booker yet?"
Nile: "I might do that. The idiot...."
Booker mimicked being hurt over being called an idiot.
Nile: "Gave Copley something to drink that he says Nicky calls Crusade Tea. Let's just say that Copley passed out after drinking it."
Joe laughed.
Joe: "And you're worried that Copley will die?"
Nile: "It's not funny, Joe. Can I talk with an adult? Like Nicky?"
Joe: "Just a moment."
Nile could hear that Joe was saying something to Nicky,
Nicky: "Nile, was Copley ill when he drank the Crusade Tea?"
Nile: "Yes, he got the flu. And is now sleeping after drinking one mouthful of your Crusade Tea."
Nicky: "You don't need to worry. I promise you that no one has ever died from drinking Crusade Tea. It most of all helps people to sleep, something ill people need. It's also good to sedate soldiers who have been injured or can't sleep because of the battles they have seen."
Nile: "What's in your Crusade Tea?"
Nicky: "Herbs, some red wine, and a secret ingredient. I'll show you one day, but listen, Nile. If you're worried about leaving Copley alone, turn on the camera on Copley's phone. Then we'll keep an eye on him for you."
Nile: "Thanks, Nicky."
After making sure he could see Copley, Nicky placed the phone on top of the stack of books he had brought with him to the beach.
Joe: "You have been saying that to me for ages."
Nicky: "What?"
Joe: "That you one day will show me the secret ingredient."
Nicky: "And I'll do it when that day comes. But it isn't today."
Joe stood up and kissed Nicky.
Joe: "One day I'll get it out of you."
Nicky: "Yes, you'll. Are you going somewhere?"
Joe: "Just getting some water and ice cream."
Nicky: "Sounds like a good idea."
Three hours later, Copley woke with his life's worst headache, and it took him a moment to realise that his phone was blinking. When he looked at the phone, he saw a text from Nicky.
Nicky: "I recommend a hot shower and eating something. It will help with your headache. And don't forget to drink a lot of water. Call me if there's anything."
Copley groaned as he rubbed his forehead while he promised himself never to drink Crusade Tea again.
