Work Text:
Connor liked hugs.
Beats Hank why but at any time, Connor was up for a hug or a pat on the shoulder or… really anything comforting physically. He didn’t mind of course, giving his kid love was his job. Connor would often be too nervous to initiate hugs but once they happened, it was like he didn’t want to leave.
Hank assumed he didn’t get hugged much at Cyberlife.
Hank shook his head and brought himself back to the present, TV droning in front of him while Connor showered. It’d been, say 20 minutes? Hank was never good of keeping track of time. Connor usually only took 10 or less minute showers to keep the bills down, so the adoptive father walked to the bathroom and knocked loudly. “Con? You alright in there?”
Connor audibly gasped before awkwardly laughing from behind the door. “Yeah, yeah I’ll be out in a sec.” Hank shrugged and walked back to the couch. He laid lazily back on the furniture, pjs of plain navy blue pants and a short sleeved, grey shirt rumpling and creasing. Another 5 minutes passed before Hank huffed loudly. “Connor! What’s takin’ so fucking long?”
“Sorry Hank! I’m just, considering!” The android yelled back. The human rolled his eyes and grumbled loud enough for Connor to hear “Consider faster.”
Connor was weird like that. He’d get so nervous over silly things. Like Hank trying his food, or picking a movie. Hank would find it funny if it wasn’t so sad that the kid had no idea what he was doing despite being an adult.
Eventually Connor toddled out and stuck his head around the door. “Haaank?” Only his now dry, curly haired head was visible, as though he was hiding his body. “Yeah son?” Hank snorted at the childlike innocence of the kid. “Promise not to laugh?” The android said with a pout and the human made a face of deep concentration before saying formally. “I promise not to unjustly make fun of you Con” before laughing. Connor returned a lopsided smiled and tentatively stepped out from the door. “I couldn’t find any pjs.” He said was an awkward smile.
Hanks spare grey shirt lay baggily on Connors broad frame, neckline creeping dangerously to his shoulder and the “short” sleeves wrapped around his elbows. The blue trackies folded up a few time to keep them off the ground accompanied by some plain white socks. He looked like a kid who’d raised his dads closet.
Ironically, he kind of was.
Hank smiled lopsidedly “Lookin’ good son.” He opened his arms up and the android all but dove into them, wrapping his mechanical arms around the human and just basking in the comfort.
Hank, in a father like fashion, scratched through Connors hair, smiling at the calm breaths he was taking before the android have him a mocking jab with his finger. “You need a shower, Hank.”
“Oh fuck off, Connor.”
