Chapter 1: Dick Grayson's Leap

Chapter Text

It was an exciting day for Wally West. His uncle Barry was going to bring him for a weekend trip to Gotham City to go to a super big and fun science museum, and probably some other sight seeing spots around Gotham.

Wally had become Kid Flash about seven months ago, and it's been the best time of his life. Who knew intentionally striking yourself with lightning while a bunch of chemicals burn into your skin was a great idea?

"Hurry up Wally or I'm going to leave without you!" Barry shouted from downstairs.

"Yeah yeah be down in a minute." Wally yelled back as he used his super speed to pack the rest of the things he needed into a duffle bag. Next thing he knew it they were both in Barry's car, on their way to Gotham.

------
Dick was passed out in the black BMW Alfred picked him up from school in. He had been awake for thirty six hours, with random mini naps when he passed out, and it was really starting to get to him. The Riddler was making his move, and solving all his riddles was time consuming and annoying. Especially if you have the risk of innocent lives being hurt if they aren't solved fast. You have to admit that forty riddles in two days was a bit excessive though, even for the Riddler.

When Alfred pulled into the driveway Dick woke up immediately. If Bruce saw that he was tired, then he would be benched for the night, and Dick wanted to help.

Dick leaped out of the BMW, running into the manor. He poked his head into Bruce's study to find it empty, so he made his way to the grandfather clock that hid one of the entrances to the Batcave. As Dick guessed, Bruce was hunched over at the Bat-Computer. This time though it wasn't the Riddler on the screen, it was Two-Face.

"What's Two-Face up too?" Dick asked, placing his backpack against the table the held the Bat-Computer.

"I heard from some informants that Two-Face was going to go on a rampage tomorrow, which does make sense since tomorrow is February 2nd." Bruce said casually.

"Double twos, never a good omen for Two-Face. Maybe we could find him and catch him tonight-" Dick stopped when Bruce turned his head towards Dick, giving a look Dick knew all too well how to read, "Yeah I doubt we will find him either, especially the day before a big attack."

"Go get some sleep, patrol in six hours." Bruce instructed.

"I'm not that tired.." Dick's tone made it sound like he wasn't even sure of that statement himself.

Bruce turned to Dick once again, "Dick you haven't slept in way too long. I've been working you too hard, and I know you most likely didn't use your study hall to sleep, since you haven't done homework at home for awhile, and your grades are still solid As"

"Look at you being a detective, goodnight B-man." Dick then scurried up the stairs to the grandfather clock entrance.

As Dick got into bed his thoughts picked up because of the time he had to relax.

It had always been funny to him that Bruce hung out with the Justice League all the time, but not a single one of them knew of him. I wonder when the day would come that they find out Bruce has a thirteenth year old kid he adopted five years ago. That day would be so funny. Just imaging the League's faces brings a smile to Dick's face.

Who knew it would happen so soon?

Dick passed out without even bothering to set an alarm, Alfred or Bruce would wake him when it was time to patrol.

-----
The speedsters got to Gotham and checked into their hotel. It was dark out in one (if not the most) violent city so Barry was intending to just go to bed, and go exploring tomorrow in the "safety" of daylight.

Wally had other plans.

"Hey Barry." Wally started, setting his duffle bag down next to one of the hotel beds. Barry just hummed in response. "Wanna go out for a run? I really wanna stretch my legs after being in that car for so long."

Barry pondered for a bit. A quick run should be fine, but there was that fear Batman would see them, and would murder Barry. He looked over to Wally who was making puppy dog eyes Barry was struggling to say no to.

"Fine just a quick run though." Barry said, making Wally throw his arms up and cheer.

And so they were off in their suits, since they were pretty much the only clothing they could go super speed in without the risk of setting on fire. The air in Gotham was a lot thicker and colder than Central City, which wasn't as easy to run in, but still ok.

Barry was a bit paranoid of Batman so he was a bit slower than normal just because of the constant looking up at rooftop, in fear of seeing one of his closest friends.

While they were running though, a small figure jumped from a rooftop right on top of Wally.

-----
"B I spotted two speedsters, dropping to pursue right now." Dick said into his com before diving down onto one of the speedsters.

He knocked one down to the pavement. That speedster was in a yellow suit, with red hair poking out the top. Dick quickly got him into a pair of anti-meta handcuffs, and activated them.

A second later Batman and... The Flash? Were by his and the strange speedster's side.

"Robin uncuff Kid Flash." Batman demanded, he had a slight pissed tone to his voice, so Robin did as he was told without any comeback.

"The fuck man!" Wally said, as he got off the ground and moved towards Barry.

Batman loomed over the speedsters, and they shrunk under his obvious anger, "What are you two doing in Gotham? Am I not clear enough in my wording of 'don't come to Gotham'?"

"Bruce I'm sorry, but who's the kid?" Barry glanced over to Robin.

"I'm the one asking the questions here." Batman said sternly.

"We were just in town on a mini vacation-" Barry got interrupted but Robin laughing.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but who ever comes to Gotham to have a vacation?" His words got him a batglare, making him shut up instantly.

"Gotham has a great science museum, plus other sight seeing options, and don't forget about all the restaurants!!" Wally said, slightly drooling at the thought of food.

Batman let out a sigh, and rubbed his eyes. "Just stop running around Gotham at super speed, I-" Robin cleared his throat, " We have a lot to deal with tonight and we don't want to have to save you from some villain, okay?"

"I mean if you want we can help out, we are heros after all." Barry offered.

"No. You aren't experienced in the villains that call Gotham their home. Let's just say they don't chit chat as much, and focus more on shooting." Batman said coldly.

"Ok fine, but you are gonna have to tell me more about this Robin kid," Barry turned from Batman to Robin, "Nice meeting you Robin."

"Yeah I didn't know Batman got a new side kick." Wally said.

"Pfft new?!!?" Robin continued to giggle, "I've been doing this for five years. It is nice to finally meet you guys too, and sorry about body slamming you KF. B I'm going to go that warehouse we were on our way too, meet me there." Robin grabbed out his grapple gun as the Flashes looked shocked.

"See you later, Rob." Wally waved, and Robin waved back as he made his way up the rooftop.

"Wait Batman you've been keeping this kid a secret for FIVE YEARS!!" Barry was shocked.

Batman just sighed again, "We'll talk later, get off the streets of Gotham for the night."

------
This encounter made it so Batman had to admit to the League that he has had a sidekick for five years without telling them. Robin was sad he couldn't be there, but he did hack into the Watchtower's security cameras.

Wally and Robin became friends fast. Robin had snuck out and showed up at Wally's house, and they had a sleepover. Next thing Barry knew they were best friends and almost inseparable.

Barry became a cool uncle to Robin himself. Especially since Barry wasn't as emotionally constipated as Bruce was.

Barry got to see Robin evolve into Nightwing, and was the first League member he was allowed to reveal his identity to. Plus Barry got to see Dick and Wally get together. Which was a bit awkward when he found out since he walked into them making out. But Barry loved the kid, and Dick loved him back.
