For a heartbeat, my mind went completely blank.
Then he spoke again, delivering the final blow with quiet resignation. "And I have been betrothed to Prince Aerion Targaryen."
The words hung in the air like thunder before a storm.
Shock hit me all at once, sharp enough to steal the breath from my lungs, and my eyes widened as realization dawned. I stared at him in disbelief, trying to make sense of everything he had just said, yet the only response that came bursting out of me was loud enough to shake the hall.
"What the FUCK?!"
