In one universe, the Gods were blessed with children and never had to go without, using them as cannon fodder or simply taking their very presence for granted.
In the other, the gods don't have such a blessing. Instead, having been cursed by Kronos for all their children to die before they can get to know them, before they can breathe- only a few surviving long enough to ascend to godhood. These Gods don't take their few surviving children for granted or send them on dangerous, life threatening quests. Surely they won't mind a few more?

When Hades finally spoke, he didn’t beat around the bush. “Nico doesn’t belong here.”
Penelope raised her chin. She probably didn’t seem threatening in the Hello Kitty pajamas pants she had thrifted and Bratz t-shirt one of former neighbors, Mary, had given Mom after her own daughter had outgrown some of the clothes. (She had brought over the clothes Angelica had outgrown in a white trash bag. Mom had given Mary back the trash bag later that day and thanked her again. Later that week, Mom and Penelope had baked Mary and her family some cookies.) “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Hades’ mouth thinned. There were still faces writhing in his three piece suit. What horrible thing did you have to do to end up in Hades’ clothing? “You never intentionally lied to me before. Don’t start now.”
Never intentionally lied implied Penelope had lied to Hades before today. She hadn’t though. Penelope had brought his Helm of Darkness - and, gods, was that still a dramatic name - back like she said she would.
Penelope raised an eyebrow. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
