Work Text:
- Oh wow, this guy is sublime!
- Which one?
- The Zabrak, of course! Did you get a good look at him?!
- There are two of them, di’kut!
- The tall one!
The Handsome one talking to a smaller Zabrak and the two seemed to know each other and to get on well, smiling whenever they weren't talking, leaning over each other.
- "Keep your voice down," Rex whispered, rolling his eyes. "Oh, never mind, I don't care."
The Captain walked away, an arm around Kix's shoulders, but Fives wasn't really paying attention.
- Don't go jumping on a natborn, it doesn't end well for clones.
- "This is a clone bar," Fives pointed out to his brother, unable to look away from the stranger's slight smile.
- "It's a natborn bar where clones are tolerated," Echo reminded him before sighing. "You're just going to do whatever you want, aren't you?"
- Can you really blame me?
- Yes. You're well aware that the natborn who come here mostly come to fuck someone without thinking of the future.
- So what?
- "So you're a virgin, you moron!" Echo hissed.
- Again, so what? There has to be a first time for everything.
Finally, Echo conceded defeat and went off to find Jesse and some other guys from other Battalions, and he finally joined them.
- "Soooo… I thought I'd see you on the arm of a Zabrak," Jesse chuckled.
- "I had my doubts," he admitted, openly disappointed. "He looks really close to the guy he's talking to, and just because I'm dreaming of getting close to him doesn't give me the right to bother him. And like you said, Echo, I'm just a clone."
- "Damn, man, you sure know how to ruin a good mood," commented the guy from the 104th, he vaguely remembered that the guy had a name related to the stars.
- All is not lost, vod'ika. I have a nearby vod who seduced a natborn, it's doable.
They turned to see who was saying this behind them and stopped moving when they saw the guy. They weren't assholes, but the Coruscant Guard was... well, different.
- Hey Thorn! Get your shebs back here!
- "Sir yes sir!" he crooned as he walked towards some other smiling Guardsmen.
Fives watched them carefully, the easy camaraderie he could see at all the other tables was there, muffled laughter and banter...
- "He's right," he finally muttered after determining that he was a trustworthy vod by seeing him sip half a drink from a careless vod next to him.
- Hi.
He was slower to respond than the others, too caught up in his thoughts, and he regretted it when he saw the tall, brown-skinned Zabrak leaning over him.
- "Hello?" Fives stammered, glancing at the others for help, a clue, a tip, anything!
- A little memo that will probably benefit many troopers: Zabrak have far superior hearing.
Panic. Panic seemed to be pretty appropriate here, in fact the others were panicking too.
- So you... you heard that...
- Yes. Everything since you talked about me. Everything. And I'm not looking for a one-night stand, by the way, so your virtue is safe with me.
Embarrassment had replaced panic before his brain finally made the effort to reconnect its neurons.
- Yeah? What if I wanted it to be otherwise?
The Zabrak rolled his eyes:
- You're funny, but I'm in my best behaviour the first night, you'll be no exception.
Clearly it was time to take a chance, so Fives continued despite Echo pinching his leg to distract him.
- And are you planning to come back tomorrow?
The Zabrak's gaze was attentive under his half-closed eyelids and his relaxed smile.
- Come back tomorrow, we'll see.
Fives listened to absolutely no comment from the others who were going to "cover his back", "investigate the natborn" and "check his background".
He had a date!
