“Ah.” the guy said, holding a folded jacket that was probably a substitution to a pillow. “I will just find another spot.”
Nagi looked up from his game as the shorter black haired guy turned away to walk back through the corridor. That was only the first time he ran into the guy. A few days later when he sat beside the gym he saw that same guy getting carried by a blonde guy.
Like how Reo carries me…
“Hey, Reo.” Nagi said and paused his game. “Who is that?”
“Hmm?” Reo said as he stopped passing against the wall and looked behind him. “Shouldn’t you know people’s name’s by now?”
“…It’s a pain remembering everyone’s names.” Nagi sighed and hugged his knees.
“Of course you would say that.” Reo said with a smile that definitely knew he would say that.
Reo picked up the ball and sat down beside Nagi in the grass.
“If you are talking about the black haired guy and the blonde guy…”
“Yeah.”
“The blonde one is Ohta-san and the black-haired one is Tanaka-san. They are one year younger than us.”
“You really know everyone Reo…”
Reo shook his head and spun the football on his finger.
“I haven’t even talked to them. It’s just common curtesy to know people’s names.”
“I see.” Nagi concluded.
Rich people really know everything.
“In any case…” Reo said and stood up again. “We need to get to class now.”
Nagi sighed again and toppled down on the grass.
“Give me a piggy-back ride.” he said.
“Geez.” Reo said. “At least stand up yourself.”
Nagi didn’t really feel like it, but reluctantly stood up so he could climb onto Reo’s back. It was pretty comfortable and he could see himself getting used to it.
Reo express…
The next time Nagi ran into the black-haired guy he at least remembered the guy’s name.
“Ah.” Nagi said as he almost crashed into the guy.
“Ah.” Tanaka said.
“You’re short.” Nagi pointed out. “Sorry I didn’t see you.”
“You’re tall.” Tanaka said, not denying that he actually had seen him.
Nagi looked at the stair-case they had apparently both been looking to take a break at. It really was one of the best spots, since people rarely went down that way.
Except Reo. We met here after all.
“…What a pain.” Nagi mumbled. “I will let you have this place today then… Tanaka.”
Tanaka didn’t seem to complain as he took the spot on the stairs to apparently fall asleep on the spot.
That’s almost impressive. Maybe I could learn from him…
During the month’s that went by, Nagi and Tanaka ran into each other often enough to be considered acquaintances. When Nagi wasn’t with Reo, and Tanaka wasn’t with Ohta, it became common for them to just hang out. Mostly they just sat in silence, Tanaka sleeping, and Nagi playing games, but at some point they had started talking to each other too.
“Hey, Nagi…” Tanaka begun, having woken up from his nap. “Isn’t it exhausting playing football? I can’t really bring myself to play sports no matter how hard I try…”
Nagi pondered the question for a second as he started a new level.
“I guess Reo makes it bearable.” Nagi answered. “He carries me around and takes care of me when we’re not playing.”
“Like Ohta for me…”
Tanaka sighed and mumbled something along the lines of: ‘I should probably train too.’ into his provisional pillow. Nagi continued to play his game but continued the conversation.
“Then again. If Reo didn’t force me to play football I would probably just sit around too.” he said. “Ohta seems very ideal really. He carries you wherever you want without complaining.”
Tanaka listened in for a second.
“If gay marriage was legal, I would probably marry him. Then he could take care of me for the rest of our lives’.” Tanaka said.
“…Sound’s like a bother getting married too.” Nagi said.
“You’re right.” Tanaka mumbled as he drifted asleep again. “All the paperwork…”
If I got married to Reo, he would probably force me to play football for the rest of our lives. But… He could at least take care of everything else.
Nagi completed the level in the game he was playing and watched as it gave him his rewards.
“…That’s only if it was legal.” he said quietly.
“There you are!” Reo said as he showed up in the staircase. “Ah and Tanaka-san too. Sleeping…”
Reo walked down the stairs and sat down a few steps above Nagi to lean on him.
“Nice to see you have found another friend.” Reo said with a smile as he watched the sleeping Tanaka. “But, Nagi. We should go to football training now. The rest of the guys will be there in less than 15 minutes.”
“…Yeah.” Nagi said and put down his game in his bag. “You carry me there.”
“Really...” Reo said, but stood up.
Reo walked down the rest of the stairs and Nagi climbed onto his back.
“See you later Tanaka.” Nagi said to the sleeping guy.
As Reo made his way towards the football field with Nagi on his back, they ran into a familiar guy.
“Ah, Mikage-san.” the younger guy greeted. “Have you seen a black-haired boy, Tanaka-kun?”
Nagi looked up at the guy. It was Tanaka’s Reo apparently. He had seen him in the corridors with Tanaka a few times, but somehow he had rarely actually ran into him.
“He’s sleeping at the lower stairs in building C.” Nagi said before Reo could answer.
“Ah thank you.” Ohta said and hurried toward the direction Nagi had pointed out.
Reo glanced at him, seemingly a little surprised that he actually bothered answering.
“Hmm?” Nagi asked.
“Nothing.” Reo said and continued walking towards the football field.
Nagi looked at Reo’s side-profile for a second before snuggling into his neck.
It wouldn’t be that bad having Reo taking care of me for the rest of my life…
