Puss was seated on the floor in front of Perla. "Come on little one, say 'Puss'. You can do it!“ He said.
But Perla didn't say anything, instead only giving Puss a blank stare.
Puss buried his face into his paws and groaned. At this rate he was getting nowhere. He was close to giving up and calling it a day.
Kitty giggled softly at Puss. She sat herself down next to him, she had a sleeping Gonzalo in her arms. "Do not stress about it, Puss. Some cats just do not talk."
Puss was well aware that Kitty was right. Even so, he was also very determined to teach these kittens how to speak. "I already knew both Spanish and English when I was their age!“ He argued.
"Well," Kitty started. "We all can't be as great as you." She teased, Puss just rolled his eyes.
All the talking had woken Gonzalo up. He jumped out of Kitty's arms and ran to go play with Timoteo and Perrito.
Perrito couldn't help but break into a fit of giggles as both kittens nudged their heads up against him. "Kitty's right!" He said. "I only learned because my siblings yelled at me all the time! Without them, I may have never learned!" He gave the two a big grin.
Kitty and Puss both looked at Perrito, then gave each other a small look of concern. The dog was still oblivious as ever as to how poorly he was treated by his own family.
Kitty softly shook her head, that was something they could discuss later. She placed a paw on Puss' arm. "Besides, they're cute the way they are. I am happy to have them here." She told him.
Perla laid down in Puss' lap and purred softly. Puss gave her a soft pat on her head as she dozed off. "Thank you Kitty, as am I." He gave her a small kiss on the cheek, and let his head rest on her shoulder.
He was a little stressed about taking care of three kittens, he can barely take care of himself as it is. Kitty and Perrito reassured him that they would help him every step of the way.
Puss wondered if he could consider them all his family, he wondered if he was even ready for a family. He decided he could let himself think about all that in the near future. For now, he will let himself rest in the comfort of it all.
