Work Text:

1. “You’re my new pillow”

Fine. Perhaps Tim was right, and drinking coke in bed was a bad idea.

His pillow was now drenched, blotchy, and reeked of carbonated high fructose syrup. Now Bernard had no pillow, it was almost four in the morning, and his eyes were starting to get heavy with sleepiness. Stupid Stephanie convinced him that using more than one pillow was bad for his neck, so when he moved into Tim's houseboat, he only bought one.

The window popped open and Tim slipped into the room with a soft thud. In ten minutes he was out of his Robin uniform and changed into one of his boyfriend’s soft plush hoodies. Bernard was relieved that there was no scent of blood in the air, and he was even more relieved when he felt Tim slip between their satin sheets and under their Egyptian cotton cover.

One more night where Tim comes back, maybe battered and bruised, but alive and warm and cuddling him in bed. He slid his arms over Bernard's shoulders and drew his back up to his chest, once secured he released a contented sigh.

“Hey Bear, what’d I tell you about staying up for me? You’ve got two weeks off until the next semester of EMT training kicks off you need to rest.” He whispered between peppered kisses along Bernard’s jaw.

Bernard curled his head into Tim's neck and sank against Tim's - admittedly cold - lips. His head tilted back, inviting Tim to trace more lip marks. Sweet, frosty, languid kisses.

“Maybe if you stopped patrolling so late I wouldn’t have to.” He muttered, trying to use his neck as a makeshift pillow while his was in the laundry, "Stop moving so much dear god."

Tim flipped him around so that they were facing each other, their breaths mingling in the cocoon between them. Bernard sighed and resumed slipping his neck into Tim's, but his partner cupped his face halfway and kissed him deeply.

Tim asked, "Where's your pillow?" in between slow kisses.

Bernard just hushed him and wrapped his arm around his neck, drawing them closer. Bernard runs out of breath after a few more minutes of chapped on soft and breathes quickly with his head against Tim's shoulder, "I spilled soda on it and Steph convinced me to only buy one pillow."

"Bernard, I told you not to drink coke in bed; you're already clumsy!"

He made an indignant noise, “I’m not clumsy!”

"You poked yourself with the stitching needle last week," Tim shook his head affectionately.

Bernard gives him a halfhearted smack. “I was drunk, you're so mean to me.”

“You’re the one trying to use me as a pillow.” Tim laughs and caresses his golden hair with gentle butterflies. It's gotten longer and now finishes in silky, smooth tufts that flare around his neck, Tim's favorite area to kiss. Aside from Bernard's lips, thighs, the small birthmark on his shoulder, the splatter of freckles that cover his entire body, the high points of his cheekbones, the... (Tim just likes kissing Bernard.)

“What, you don’t like being this close?” Bernard nuzzles closer and murmurs into his ear, "You don't enjoy my presence."

"You know I do Bern," Tim huffed.

Tim was securely enveloped inside Bernard's hands as he smoothly flipped him onto the comfortable mattress. He could easily break free from his boyfriend's grip if he wanted to, but he didn't. If Tim could, he'd stay like this forever, basking in the warmth of his sunshine.

“Then what’s your problem with being my new pillow?” Bernard stares at Tim for a moment, the only new injury he can see being a small bruise under his jaw. Bernard licks his lips and gives Tim a sticky kiss where the bruise is. If he wasn’t so tired, Bernard would give Tim his own bruise.

“You get so sweaty when you sleep and I don’t wanna wake up all sticky.”

“I could make you sweaty and sticky in morning if you want.”
“Bernard!”
