Banquet

Summary:

Based on the Blue Lock Exhibition art with them in suits.

Just these characters enjoying (the food at) a banquet after winning the U-20 world cup, Reo and Nagi getting interviewed and Chigiri cheering up Kunigami.

Notes:

Some of these sentences are not even supposed to be expressions lol. But well I guess I can somewhat blame it on English not being my first language.

Chapter Text

“Isagi Yoichi, you were definitely the greatest player on the field this time again!” the reporter said. “So, how was it, winning the world cup for U-20?”

Isagi fiddled at his gloves as he told the reporter about how they had won. A week ago they had won the U-20 world cup. The next stage would be the real world cup, but for now, all the ‘heroes’ of the match had been invited to a banquet. Isagi had never been to a place like this and the suit he was wearing was a little uncomfortable, but he was sure he would get used to it sooner or later. After the reporter was done with interviewing Isagi, Isagi walked up to Bachira who talked with some of the other people invited. Bachira as usual seemed to fit right in at social conventions, while Isagi, though more confident than a year ago, still had some old personality traits left.

“Bachira, how’s it going?” Isagi asked.

Bachira immediately noticed him and ended his previous conversation.

“Meh, they aren’t even fun.” Bachira said and stuck out his tongue as he walked beside him. “They only talked about how they would have done. Easy for them to say when they aren’t even on the field.”

“I guess it went… bad, then?” Isagi said, to answer his own question.

“Just boring.”

Bachira started walking faster toward the snack table.

“Hey there’s free food!”

“You shouldn’t run here!” Isagi said and walked after him.

The table was filled with small snacks, ranging from western snacks to Indian to Japanese. Some of which Isagi had never seen before. It was a little suspicious to not know the ingredients and he looked at the small signs in front of each plate.

“Ah…” Isagi said as he tried to read. “It’s in English…”

Bachira was already chewing on some cake as he answered:

“Duh. Most of the guests are foreigners. English was probably easier.”

As Isagi struggled translating he heard a voice behind him.

“Lukewarm. You still can’t read English, Isagi?”

“Hey I can understand listening just fine.” Isagi answered.

“Ah, our professional English lexicon!” Bachira said with a smile. “Remember when we studied English together Rin?”

“Worst day of my life.” Rin answered and picked up one of the small signs. “‘Cheese, flour, sugar, cream, raspberry, may contain traces of nuts’… You can’t read this?”

Isagi snatched the small sign trying to read it again. He slowly mouthed the sounds to what Rin had said, making them line up. Of course it would match up and Isagi frowned as he put it down where it had stood.

“As expected of Rin!” Bachira said and started filling his mouth with snacks again.

“Bachira… You really have no interest in what you’re eating…” Isagi said and picked up a snack he knew what it was.

“Food’s, food.” Bachira said with his mouth filled.

Notes:

Food’s food agreed.
