Family bliss

Summary:

A movie night with Death and Delirium takes an unexpected turn when a drunken Hob becomes a little too demonstrative for Dream's taste.

Notes:

As there is no visual for Delirium yet (apart for the comics), I used this little multicolored fish to represent her
 on my "cover"

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It had been more than ten minutes that Dream could not concentrate anymore and could not tell what was happening in the movie they were watching.

Hob, having drunk a little more than he should have, had started to press himself against him. Which normally wouldn't have bothered Dream at all if they had been alone. But this was not the case. Death was sitting at the other end of the couch and Delirium was cross-legged on the floor at their feet.

And although he made no secret of his relationship with Hob -as if he could have hidden anything from his sisters- he didn't particularly want to show off their intimacy.

Dream tried to move a little more towards the end of the sofa, but it was a waste of time because Hob's head slid down his arm to rest on his chest, and Dream had no choice but to wrap his arm around Hob's shoulders.

Delirium seemed captivated by what was on TV and Dream glanced at Death, hoping that she too was absorbed in the movie and had not noticed anything. Not a chance. Because even if his sister's gaze was turned towards the screen, the expression on her face left no doubt that she had seen everything.

The problem was that Hob didn't limit himself to rubbing against Dream, he started to kiss him on the neck, making him shiver. Dream tried to push him gently, and whispered "Hob, please... the movie's not over." He saw Delirium's shoulders start to shake, followed by a giggle she couldn't hold back.

"'Kay sweetheart..." replied Hob in a rather clear voice that of course none of his sisters could have ignored. The giggle at his feet and the small snicker to his left proved to him that they had perfectly heard it and Dream could not prevent his cheeks from turning pink.

Hob, for his part, had not moved a centimeter and continued to kiss the hollow of Dream’s neck.

Dream tried again to reason with him, "Hob, we are not alone... please stop."

Hob looked up and pouted, "But baby..."

Baby! Hob never called him that!

Hob continued, "Me... I only see you, so it's like we're alone."

There was another chuckle from Delirium and when Dream turned his head towards Death, she smiled and mouthed, "Baby..."

Dream tried to look scolding, but the blush on his cheeks didn't make it convincing at all.

His attention returned to Hob who was letting his fingers run over Dream's face and had just stopped on his lips, "Hm... those lips, I want to kiss them so bad... please Dream... Sweetie..."

Well this was too much! He tried to push Hob away a little more firmly, but the man hooked his arms around his neck and his lips almost against his, he said in a pleading voice, "Please... please... love me."

Dreal would have succumbed in a second if it weren't for his sisters, but that was out of the question so he simply pressed Hob against his chest and whispered against his ear, "Hob... a little patience, okay... promise we'll soon be able to do anything you want."

He felt Hob nod his head against him and sighed with relief when his lover simply snuggled up to him and didn't try anything else.

Death called to his younger sister, "Delirium, I think it's time for us to leave."

The young woman turned and with a sulky pout, retorted, "Too bad, the show behind me was almost as interesting as the one on TV."

Death chuckled lightly, "I guess the rest of the show is not for us honey." Then she stood up and approached the embracing couple, she bent down to kiss Dream on the forehead before whispering, "You two are adorable. I'm happy for you. For both of you." Then, still with the same sweet smile on her lips she began to walk away.

Delirium, who had stood up, approached her brother and kissed him on the cheek, "I had a good time. You're really more fun now that you have Hob. But next time don't keep him to yourself... baby." and with a burst of laughter she bounced away to join her sister before leaving the apartment.

Before, Dream's first reaction would have been to take offense, but he couldn't stop that sweet warm feeling from spreading inside him as he thought about his sisters' words.

Yes he had changed and for the better. It was partly thanks to the man who had now fallen asleep in his arms and was mumbling something.

"You are so warm, Dream, can I stay like this forever?"

Dream laughed softly and replied, "Anything you want, my love." He pressed a tender kiss to Hob's hair and his lover snuggled a little closer against him.

The movie continued on the television, but Dream didn't care, much more captivated by his beloved resting in his arms.
