Chapter Text
It was a regular sunny day in Naples. Leone Abbacchio was sitting at the table of Libeccio, waiting for the other gang members. The morning was rather hated by the kids. Narancia always stayed up late and waking him up always ended up with Fugo shaking and yelling at him. Mista woke up just fine, but he needed lots of time to prepare and take care of Sex Pistols. Usually, Leone didn’t mind waiting for them to settle down (as long as he was away from the drama), but today he just wasn’t feeling it. Bucciarati woke up extra early for a job and called them to meet up at the restaurant. Thus, Abbacchio waited, tired and bored as always.
He was awakened from his thoughts by a constant and rather annoying tugging at his overcoat.
Leone: Goddamnit, not this early in the morning…
He did NOT escape tactically retreat from one group of teenagers, just to encounter some kid.
Leone: Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away (as if that ever works for him).
The child increased the tugging, grabbed the cloth, and started climbing. The stubbornness and the audacity of this brat! Abbacchio angrily looked down, ready to grab the kid off, but he had to do a double take. He was met with big, vibrant eyes with heterochromia. A beautiful mix of violet and blue, shining with wonder, bright like a night sky. He has never met anyone who had the same condition, so sue him for getting caught off guard. Well, at least the kid was just as shocked. Black-haired reached her small hand to his face, but obviously couldn’t reach. Now Leone didn’t care for kids (at least that’s what he told others), but for some reason, he felt protective and warm towards her, so he indulged the toddler by leaning down, noticing cute little lavender roots. In return, the baby pet his face, stared at his hair, lips, and only then noticed his eyes. The instant change from curiosity to full-on GLEE would melt anyone’s heart, except Abbacchio’s (lies, all lies). The little girl started giggling and excitedly slapping his chest and pulling his coat’s laces.
Bruno: Abbacchio?
OH NONONOOO… NOT NOW! Leone started panicking, mortified to be caught being soft with a child, much to Bucciarati’s amusement. At least others aren’t here yet…

Everyone’s (especially Leone’s) favorite Bruno Bucciarati started the day nice and early…. Well okay, not nicely, considering he had a business to take care of, but it was definitely early! He and Abbacchio were always the first ones awake, but even Leone wasn’t up that early. Things got more problematic as time went on, so he couldn’t wait for it all to be over. As always, he called his team for a meeting in his obviously favored restaurant.
He wouldn’t be surprised to see Abbacchio there first, despite his alcoholism tendencies, he was always responsible in this matter. What he, or anyone, would not be prepared for, would be to see him smiling, let alone smiling at the child, who was absolutely ecstatic. As some of you (all of you) know, Bruno had a soft spot for kids, plus seeing HIM of all people like that?! Amazing, his eyes have been blessed. All his tiredness vanished, only leaving behind the amusement and the irresistible urge to tease.
Bruno: Abbacchio?
The instant panic on the man’s face was absolutely hilarious, but then he went all red, and oh, Bucciarati’s heart skipped some sick beats.
“When I said bring the kids, I meant our gang, not your own,” he smirked, clearly messing with the older one.
Leone scoffed. “She isn’t mine.”
“Good to know, you seem pretty friendly with her though.” He walked behind the table to get a good look at a little spy, immediately noticing her unusual eyes. "Oh, her eyes…”
Leone adjusted her towards Bucciarati. “That’s what caught my attention as well. I have never met someone with heterochromia like mine.”
Bruno put his hand on his teammate and leaned close. His breath right next to the goth, “I always thought such eyes were beautiful, hypnotizing even. She will be very pretty when she grows up.” Just like you. He reached out to play with the baby, but his hand got promptly slapped away. Little girl flapped her right hand, and stared adorably menacingly, clinging to Abbacchio’s lace strings for dear life. Bruno was close to pouting himself, about to friendly jab at his 2 companions for playing favorites–
Loud foreign noises could be heard from the front of the restaurant. A short brunette briskly walked in, put her hands on her waist, and kept loudly saying something. She did everything short of tapping her foot.
A waiter followed her, eyebrows lowered and pulled close together, clearly distressed, “My apologies, Mr. Bucciarati, she came in like a hurricane and started yelling, we couldn’t keep her out in all that confusion.”
The lady pointed at the baby and shouted something that sounded like a name. The kid teared up and started wiggling in Abbacchio’s lap. Bruno put 2 and 2 together and with Leone distracted, took the kid and gave her back to her mother. The female said one very broken ‘Grazie’, snatched the baby, stared at her, and stopped her fussings with a strict tone. She threw one disapproving glare at the goth and walked away with her nose in the air.
Leone wanted to give her a piece of his mind, language barrier be damned, but the little one’s calm face and a cute little wave kept him in his tracks, damn his soft spot for kids.He sure hoped the baby wouldn’t take after that moody bitch, but something in his soul told him, she would be a wonderful person, just like his Bruno.
