King looked at Luz with excited eyes, his tail wagging quickly. "Luz! Luz, are we going to the human realm today? Is there enough snow?"
Luz laughed slightly from the edge of the portal, dusting snow from her thick jacket. "There sure is. It snowed heavily all night. Thankfully, it's slowed down now."
He nodded, his tail speeding up. "I can't wait to see snow in your realm! Is it any different than the snow here on the isles?"
Before she could respond, The collector blinked into existence at the skull, only a few feet from the portal.
They smiled widely, before floating towards King. "King! Are we playing with Luz today?"
At that, King hummed slightly. "Actually, I wanted to see snow in the human realm today. Do you-"
The collector happily wrapped their arms around King. "I want to come, too! I want to play!"
When King looked to Luz curiously, the human hummed.
She walked over to them, gently grabbing each of their shoulders. "You can come if you want. But, there are rules for both of you in the human realm."
Both of them nodded, waiting for her to continue. She gave them both small smiles. "The human realm, or planet Earth, is not like the isles, or the demon realm. There is no magic. It's not normal to see anything like it. So, it means you two will need to avoid using any, ok? No powerful yells, no flying, no reality warping powers. It can be very dangerous to other humans, or even yourselves. Understand?"
A long groan escaped The collector in response. "What? Humans are so boooooring! What do you even do? Do you just walk everywhere on your feet? Do you sleep all day?"
Luz shook her head. "No. And humans are not boring. We just don't have magic. There's plenty to do."
The star child blinked at her curiously, tilting his head. "Like what?"
King eagerly walked towards the portal. "Let's find out. Come on, let's go. I want to see the human realm!"
With a small laugh, Luz walked over next to him. "Are you coming to the boring human realm, Collector?"
They nodded, and floated over to King. "Uh, duh! Of course I am. I don't want my best friend playing in the human realm without me!"
As they stepped through the portal, they appeared in the forest Luz had grown accustomed to. She shivered, and tucked her hands into the coat pockets.
Both King, and The collector looked around the snowy forest in awe.
King stepped into the snow, shivering slightly. "It's still just as cold as the isles."
Luz smiled to him. "I'll go talk to mama. She would be happy to have some hot cocoa waiting for you both if you want some later."
As she walked off to her house, King looked to The collector. "What's 'cocoa' like? Do you know?"
In response, they just shrugged slightly. "I dunno. Hmm...I wonder in human snow tastes like whatever this 'cocoa' stuff is?"
When they scooped some snow into their palm, and took a few bits into their mouth, King winced slightly. "Hey, don't just put stuff in your mouth from the ground! Who knows what the human realm has in it?"
The collector stuck his tongue out. "Bleh. It doesn't taste good. Hopefully this 'cocoa' stuff is better."
King hummed slightly, and fell onto his back. As he flailed his arms, and legs The collector blinked at him curiously. "What are you doing?"
He stood up, and gestured to the shape in the snow. "Ta-da! It's a snow angel! Luz taught me how to make them."
At that, The collector squinted at the shape, before laughing softly. "A snow angel? I can make something better!"
They snapped their fingers, before slowly making twirls, and tapping, and wiggling his fingers.
With a small clap, the snow leveled out flat, revealing a tiny re-creation of the boiling isles.
The collector smiled widely to King, resting their hands against their hips. "Ta-da! What do you think?"
King knelt down carefully, looking at the snow in amazement. "Woah, you have everything here! It's all in perfect detail. You even have a little beast mode Eda! And there's the skull, and the castle. You really made all of the boiling isles!"
After a brief pause, King stood back up. "...but Luz said we can't use our magic here. It's not safe."
At that, the snow fell into a shapeless heap, and The collector tossed some at King. "Boo! You're being boring!"
He huffed, and threw some snow back at them. "I want everyone to be safe."
Both of them stared at each other silently for a few minutes, before they started throwing snow at each other while laughing.
After a few hours, Camila and Luz walked out into the forest area, and the older woman smiled to them. "Boys, come inside! You have been outside for too long. Come and get some cocoa, and get warm."
The collector floated over towards them, and Luz snorted slightly. "You look a little...a lot...soaked."
King hummed, and shook his fur out. "Yeah. It's a little uncomfortable now that I notice it..."
Camila smiled, and gestured for them to follow her. "Come on, then. I have towels, and robes that are dry. Surely there is something your size."
At that, The collector floated in front of Camila with a hum. "And this 'cocoa' stuff, right?"
Luz tilted her head at him curiously. "Have you never had hot cocoa? It's a drink."
When she glanced to King, he just shrugged with a tiny 'weh' sound.
They all went back to the house, and Camila smiled softly to The collector. "If you want, I can show you the bathroom. We have a few different robes in there. Will yours be ok if I dry them?"
The collector laughed slightly, and started floating up into the air. "Of course! You don't have magic here!"
Camila felt a nervous pit in her stomach, and she nodded. "Right, we don't. So, let's get you something new to wear. King, I will bring you a towel for your fur. Luz, wait in the kitchen for us."
Luz nodded, and led King into the kitchen. "Right, mama. Come on, King. You can try cocoa first."
Once The collector was led to the bathroom, Camila gave him a smaller blue robe. "This was one of Luz' robes. It should fit you, though. I will wait out here while you change. Oh, let me grab a towel."
As she closed the door, he pulled his robes off, before pulling on the new one. This robe wasn't nearly as baggy as his old one, and parts of his legs, arms, and his bare feet were visible.
They hummed curiously, before gathering their robe.
Camila smiled widely as they opened the door, and her eyes scanned the purple star shaped freckles dotting their arms, and legs.
She gently patted their head, ruffling the white, cloud like hair. "Ay, qué lindo!"
In response he squinted at her, his red irises glowing slightly. "I...don't know what you're saying."
With a nod, she gestured for them to follow her. "Do not worry. Now, would you like to try hot cocoa?"
Once they arrived at the kitchen, King waved to them happily. "Collector! You've got to try this 'cocoa' stuff! It's delicious!"
A smile crossed their lips, and they accepted a warm mug from Luz.
When they took a small sip, they started floating again with a smile. "Wow! That's really good! Maybe the human realm isn't so bad."
Luz nodded to them, and smiled. "Yeah. You know what else is good on days like today? Watching movies under warm blankets. Once you're both done, I can show you some human movies!"
Both of them drank their hot cocoa, before eagerly joining Luz on the couch.
All three of them were wrapped up in two large blankets, and Camila smiled to them. "I have some suggestions for movies. How do you feel about sci-fi?"
While they watched their movies, King would hide against The collector's side at any of the scary parts, and The collector would hold onto the titan when the movies became sad.
After many hours of watching different movies, each from different genres, Luz had yawned tiredly.
The sun had long since gone down, leaving a cloudless starry night. "Mama, I think I'm going to bed. It's been a while since I have had a day like this."
Camila smiled to her, and kissed her forehead. "Goodnight, mija. Now, King where do you-"
She went quite as she saw King curled in a ball in The collector's lap, fast asleep.
The star child laid on their back, their hands resting over their chest.
A soft hum came from her, and she turned to Luz. "Should I move them, or...?"
There was another soft awn from Luz, before she spoke softly. "Let them rest. King has mentioned that The collector doesn't like being alone. They both seem comfortable enough."
When she yawned again, Camila laughed softly, and gently guided her to he bedroom. "Alright, mija. You need sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."
Once she had went to bed, Camila looked back to the two children, and was surprised to see a soft orange glow surrounding The collector.
They seemed to be fast asleep, and Camila couldn't help but smile at them softly. "Buenas noches, niños."
With a small yawn of her own, she retreated to her own bedroom to fall asleep.
