Summary
Cassidy holds him close, peppering kisses into his hair.
"Stay with me," she says, and Evan looks up through his hiccups, "come back home to Arizona with me, Ev. My family will love you; I swear."
He stutters, "Cas, I couldn't..."
"Yes, you can," she presses, holding his cold hands up to her face. His fingers find some stray curls in her eyes and twists them around.
He hesitates and looks away.
"Please," she asks, "I-I don't know if I could bear sending you back there, o-or letting you live in some motel for the rest of the summer. It's only three months, Ev."
"Ask first," he ends up saying, "and if they say no, don't beg. Just agree. Deal?"
She nods, quick, and excited and not unlike an overeager dog. "Deal!"
Evan sags back against her, and breaths in deep.
Arizona, huh?
