CHAPTER 1: THE ESCAPE
The life of the wolf isn’t always easy. That day when All Might stepped down as leader and Katsuki took his place, everything changed for the pack. Sure, Katsuki was a great leader, but he was also vicious, cruel, and sometimes only thought of himself instead of others. If you got in his way, he’d snap at you or even toss you aside with his jaws. Some wolves questioned his leadership, but they kept it to themselves. The last thing they wanted was the angry fireball to chase them around the forest.
When the season of spring finally arrived, it was time for all the young adult wolves, including Katsuki, to find a mate. For some wolves it was going to be hard, but for one wolf, Izuku, it wasn’t a challenge at all. He had already fallen in love with a sweet wolf named Ochako. Unbeknown to the pack, they have been secretly seeing each other. They grew close and looked forward to the day that they would become mates. Izuku had told his mother, Inko, about Ochako and his intension of having her as his mate. Inko was so happy for them, and she also understood why they were seeing each other in secret. She made a promise to not say anything; in fact, she even helped them out so they could see each other more often. Izuku was blessed to have such a loving caring mother. When most of the young adult wolves have found their mates, Katsuki made his announcement to the pack on the mate he has chosen.
“I have chosen Ochako to rule by my side,” he said
Everyone, including Izuku and Inko, were shocked. Tears began to form in Ochako’s eyes when Katsuki called her up to stand before the pack with him. There was nothing she could do. Refusing would only cause problems for her and Izuku. Her ears drooped down as she stood next to him. Everyone could clearly see that Ochako wasn’t happy. Izuku grew angry and wanted to charge at Katsuki, but Inko held him back.
“He can’t do this!” Izuku snarled under his breath
“I know this is hard for you sweetie, but please don’t cause a scene. You don’t want Katsuki to get suspicious,” said Inko in a whisper
Ochako and Izuku looked at each other for a few moments. They could see the pain in each other’s eyes. Katsuki looked over at Ochako. He smiled and nuzzled her. This caused her to tremble a bit.
“Don’t worry Ochako. With you by my side, you’ll never have to worry about eating small portions again. I’ll make sure you get treated like a queen,” said Katsuki
Ochako just sighed and didn’t look his way. Katsuki then announced the ceremony for him, and the others would take place at the next full moon which was 3 days away. The young adult wolves that have found their mates started to howl with joy. Later that night when all the wolves in the pack were asleep, Izuku, Ochako, and Inko snuck off somewhere private to talk.
“I refuse to be Katsuki’s mate, but what are we going to do Izuku?” asked Ochako
“I don’t know,” he replied
“You two just remain calm. The ceremony won’t take place for 3 days. I have a plan that might work,” said Inko
“What is it mom?” asked Izuku
“We’re listening,” said Ochako
For the next few minutes, Inko explained her plan. Izuku and Ochako nodded in agreement. Even though the plan was a risk, they were willing to take it. It seemed like it was the only way for Izuku and Ochako to be together.
“Then we’re all in agreement?” asked Inko
“Yes,” Izuku and Ochako both replied
“Okay. We’ll meet back here the night before the ceremony. For now, we’re just going to play along.”
They all headed back quietly and went to sleep. The next day, Ochako and Izuku went about their business. Ever since Katsuki made his happy announcement, Ochako was forced to stay close to him. Izuku didn’t like it and he was trying his best to not let it get to him. The big night finally came. Inko, Izuku, and Ochako quietly snuck away from the pack, walked into the forest, and climbed many rocky hills. Half the moon shined through the trees. The path they walked was leading them to an open field. The rocky hill looked like it was leading upwards towards the stars. To be cautious, Inko walked out onto the rocky hill and scanned her surroundings.
“Come on you two. We don’t have much time,” said Inko
Izuku and Ochako walked out of the forest and into the open area where Inko was standing. Ochako looked nervous.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Ochako asked Izuku
“Of course, aren’t you?” he replied
“Well….yes….it’s just”
“I know. I’m scared too. Look, I don’t know what we’re going to find out there, but our lives will be miserable here. We can’t stay.”
“Well, you’re half right Deku!” said a voice
Inko, Izuku, and Ochako were shocked to see Katsuki and a few pack members emerge from the forest and towards their direction. Katsuki looked incredibly pissed.
“You and your mother are leaving, but Ochako stays with me!” he growled
“That’s up to her Kaachan!” snarled Izuku
“You know what, you’re absolutely right! What could I have been thinking? Go ahead Ochako, choose your fate.”
“I’m in love with Izuku, not you Katsuki. I’m sorry,” said Ochako
“Not as sorry as you will be!” he replied “Sic ‘em!”
Katsuki and his pack members charged at Inko, Izuku, and Ochako. Since they were stuck on top of the rocky hillside, they had nowhere to run. They were backing up towards the edge of the ledge.
“Ochako, you can still change your mind,” said Izuku
“I can, but I won’t!” she replied
Inko and Ochako continued to back up as Izuku stood his ground against the members of the pack. He swiped at one and tackled another. Unfortunately, there were too many of them. It was pointless to fight them off. Izuku had no choice, but to run. He caught up with Ochako and his mother. Now they were all near the ledge and had nowhere to go.
“Quick! The river, it’s our only chance,” said Inko
Before Katsuki and the pack members could capture Inko, Izuku, and Ochako, they jumped off the ledge and into the wild river below. The strong current washed them down the river. Katsuki snarled as he watched them disappear into the distance.
“This isn’t over Deku. I promise you that!” he growled
End of Chapter 1. Sorry for making it so short. I’ll do my best to make the next few chapters longer. If some of the dialogue sounds familiar, it’s because it came from the “Jungle Cubs” episode. I just changed some words around. Anyways, I hope you’re enjoying the story so far and I’ll post the next chapter as soon as I can.
