Chapter Text
kuni never saw heizou as the type to cry. he has always been a strong man, never emotional about anything. whenever his friends seem to be going through rough times, he’s always there for them, even for kuni himself.
so imagine his surprise when shikanoin heizou, the clingiest person he knows, suddenly acts like a polar opposite of himself.
it started off with his text messages, giving short one word answers instead of his usual small messages breaking up his sentences. it was strange, but it was heizou’s examination week. kuni just shrugged it off, he must have been very busy studying. he does take his criminology studies very seriously.
it started to be more blatantly obvious when heizou started to be more quieter around kuni. normally, it was heizou who would ramble on for hours and hours in their daily nightly calls. but these days, the roles seemed to be reversed. kuni asked one night, “ you okay, hei?”
“mmh, just tired.”
what the fuck?
kuni completely lost it when heizou started to avoid his calls, even in school. acting as if he didn’t exist, is kuni some kind of joke? he was even starting to think that heizou was falling out of love in him. just the mere thought of it makes kuni sick. it’s either something’s up or some disgusting ass bug crawled into heizou’s pathetic little brain and messed him up.
as kuni would like to phrase it.
if heizou wants to play it that way, fine.
so imagine his surprise (again), when all of a sudden, someone was banging on kuni’s door. thank his aunt buer that his mother and his stepmom isn’t home.
just as kuni opened the door, ready to spew out insults at that person for disrupting his quiet peaceful time, a sudden embrace from said person was given. kuni was about to scream at him until he sees that familiar burgundy hair and the scent of vanilla engulfed him.
“heizou?”
a pair of teary jade looked up.
“h-heizou!! what’s…what’s wrong?!!” kuni immediately brought heizou in his house and sat him down on the sofa. heizou stayed quiet, head low. small sniffles could be heard from him, making kuni sigh before sitting down next to him.
“do you..uh…need some time?”
“i-i’m sorry, just gimme a moment.”
kuni got up, and went to the kitchen for a while. heizou gripped his pants tight, processing everything. wiping his tears away didn’t help, they kept coming back. he wasn’t one to cry, yet he can’t help but to let himself loose right now with everything he’s been through at this point of time.
“for you.” heizou looked up and saw kuni holding his favourite bag of chips. heizou accepted it silently, muttering an inaudible thanks. kuni takes his seat next to heizou once again.
“so uh…”
“i’m sorry kuni. for being such a piece of shit lately, just lemme explain everything.”
kuni stayed slient.
“please.”
“go on.”
heizou takes a deep breath in, and lets everything out.
“these days, my relationship with my dad has been getting from bad to worse. he’s been in such a bad mood and keep on telling me that criminology is not the right path for me and all that stupid shit and how he wishes for me to take up martial arts like him but you know how i’m always like brains over brawn and i don’t like fighting people. and i’m fucking EIGHTEEN!!! just let me do what i want GODDAMMIT!!!”
damn. for once, kuni dosent know what to say.
“ what a fucktard of a father you have.”
“exactly, which brings me to my next point, my dad found out i’m gay and he’s homophobic as fuck.”
oh shit.
“what..”
“yeah, we had a fight earlier today a few minutes before i came over, he grabbed my phone and went through it right in front of me. that’s how he found out.”
“what happened after, if you don’t mind me asking.”
“he fucking screamed at me, what else? he was saying things like how he didn’t raise me to be like this and how he wants you dead and all that shit.”
horrifying, kuni thought, worse than his silly excuse of his mother. (then again, she’s a lesbian so she didn’t really care when kuni told her.)
“ if he wants me dead, then jokes on him. i can probably take that unsightly insect in a fight and i’ll win. go to hell.”
heizou giggles. “my dad is a black belt holder, you sure you can take him?”
“i can take him.”
“ in a fight, right?”
“of fucking course you dumbshit. you think i would fuck that wretched vermin excuse of a father?”
for the first time in forever, heizou laughed. not laughing for the sake of laughing, an actual genuine hearty laugh. kuni got startled, but seeing genuine happiness from his boyfriend after what seemed like an eternity, he felt relieved, eyes softening.
shifting closer to heizou, taking his hands in his and kissed it gently. heizou blushed, he never gets used to his little angry gremlin getting soft and sentimental. their eyes met, taking refuge in each other’s presence.
“kunikuzushi…”
“listen heizou, no matter what your shit excuse of a parental figure tells you, fuck him. don’t listen to him and his shit. you’re…you’re perfect as you already are, i don’t know what i’ll do without you. i-i don’t even know how you are tolarating me perfectly fine cause i’m such a shit person and-”
warmth embraced his lips, cutting him off. kuni relaxed almost instantaneously, wrapping his arms around heizou’s waist to pull him closer. it didn’t last long, but neither of them cared. They broke off with heizou hiding his face in kuni’s shoulder.
“that’s so gay.”
“my dad should watch us makeout, maybe then he’ll shut the fuck up.”
kuni chuckled, caressing his hair gently. “ this is a big fuck you to your dad.”
“for real.”
“anyway, can i sleep over? pretty sure my dad won’t let me in the house for a while.”
“and i was wondering if you would ask.”
