curfew

Summary:

Angie sighed. “Nothing nice to say, huh? God doesn’t like that very much. He’s grumpy having to remind you of the rules so late at night too. You’re not supposed to be out of the dorms right now, you know that. It’s past midnight!”

The work of the student council president never ends. Miu is particularly difficult to keep in line.

Work Text:

Angie skipped down the hallway, humming a tune to herself. The floorboards creaked ominously underfoot here and there, but she was unbothered. She was used to spooky noises back home on her island, not to mention all the events of the killing game so far. Little things like that couldn’t get to her when she had the protection of a holy prophet. She was building up her council so nicely too, a whole group of people willing to follow her and obey her divine edicts. Yes, things were going well indeed, as much as one could expect under these circumstances.

The people who opposed the student council though...they were troublesome. If they weren’t kept in line, they could cause some big problems. So, in the interest of keeping everyone safe and maintaining peace around the academy, rules were necessary. The council members were cooperative in enforcing them so far, but that didn’t mean Angie herself could slack off.

“Nighttime, nighttime,” she sang quietly to herself, continuing down the hall to the computer lab. Just as expected, she was greeted by bright lights still on, along with a vast, glowing computer screen. Seated in front of it was Miu, disheveled in a way that suggested she’d been working and reworking bits of code for hours.

“Miu,” Angie said, dragging it out longer than necessary. “What are you doing?”

Miu flinched violently, whirling around in her chair to face her. She looked a little crazed, eyes wide and face flushed. Crazed or maybe embarrassed, though Angie wasn’t sure why. She definitely wouldn’t be embarrassed about being caught out at nighttime, not with how eagerly she and the others disregarded all the new rules. Interesting.

“I’m working, what the fuck does it look like? What are you doing sneaking up on me and interrupting my work, bitch?”

Angie sighed. “Nothing nice to say, huh? God doesn’t like that very much. He’s grumpy having to remind you of the rules so late at night too. You’re not supposed to be out of the dorms right now, you know that. It’s past midnight!”

“And what makes you think I give a shit about your rules? My genius can’t be constrained by some power-tripping fake god.” Miu scoffed, running a hand through her hair and only managing to mess it up more. Angie was halfway tempted to straighten it out, but messiness could be pretty too. Miu was certainly pretty, even with the dark bags under her eyes that spoke to days of exhaustion. “I’m the genius doing work that could save us all while your impotent little followers all circlejerk about how great you are, so I don’t have time to listen to you.”

“God doesn’t like to hear that either,” Angie said, frowning. “That’s very unfortunate, Miu. You see, it’s not really a choice.” Reaching out, she grabbed Miu’s arm, pulling her to her feet. “You can save whatever it is you’re working on, but then you’re going to your room and going to sleep.”

“Fuck that noise.” Miu yanked her arm back, making to shove her, but Angie dodged, smiling angelically.

“If it helps, Angie could always stay with you until you fall asleep. Cuddle you and make you feel comfortable. If you join the student council, you could have perks like that all the time! Doesn’t that sound wonderful?”

“Now you’re whoring yourself out for support?” Miu laughed, shaking her head. “God, I didn’t think my opinion of you could get any lower. How pathetic.”

“Jealousy doesn’t suit you,” she said, reaching out again. She grabbed Miu’s hand this time instead of her arm, which made her let out a high-pitched, squeaky sort of noise. She whined, looking away.

“Ugh, did Bakamatsu teach you this trick before biting it or something? Or no, it was Shithara, wasn’t it? Aah, that fucker. Fine, if you’re gonna beg me, I’ll go to bed with you, but you’d better make it worth my while.”

Still smiling, Angie watched as Miu saved her progress and stepped away from the computer, still looking a bit reluctant despite being obviously flustered.

“Don’t worry, Angie will!”
