The Doctor (who was offended at Tegan’s surprise that he could speak English without the translation circuits) had explained to her that the problem was temporary. Adric had gone to his room after discovering that no one else on the TARDIS spoke Alzarian.
Trakenite, from the brief snippets that Tegan heard, was a lovely language, but after realizing what was happening, Nyssa had become very quiet.
Tegan took Nyssa’s hand, ignoring her look of confusion. There was a garden near the TARDIS library that Nyssa liked. Just because they couldn’t talk didn’t mean that Tegan couldn’t be there for her.
