Summary
Crowley makes a drunken bet with Hastur, and as a Duke of Hell, the smarmy demon has the authority to make good on the wager. The bet: Crowley must successfully tempt an angel. If he fails, he’ll end up in the Pits of Hell with no access to Earth or any angels who happen to reside there.
Crowley (being Crowley) thinks he’s already tempted an angel—he got Aziraphale to eat that ox rib all the way in Uz, and he’s been spreading a breadcrumb trail of earthly seductions ever since.
Unfortunately, Crowley (being Crowley) didn’t read the fine print. He has to tempt an angel to do something they’d never think to do on their own. And, let’s be honest, Aziraphale had intentions for that ox from the moment he laid eyes on it.
What’s a demon to do?
