I got your letter. Thank you for your kind words and once again for your help in the trial, I would not have been able to overcome it without you. After my sentence is over I will do my utmost to start anew and leave both this industry and my old life behind, much of this sentiment being inspired by you. I'm grateful that you continue to extend your aid to me, but I feel that I might fall into a habit of taking it too easily without making an effort to stand on my own… If you do not mind, I might still write to you from time to time. Thank you for agreeing to keep up our postal exchange, I will look forward to receiving more of your letters in the upcoming months (if I may be so bold as to hope for that). Most matters over here seem to be resolved, at least from what I hear, so do not worry about the case anymore. The most that will happen now is less than trustworthy media coverage, which I will thankfully not be witnessing directly. As for my previous letter calling you 'inspiring'... there is nothing in particular you have done that I would title as such. Of course your conviction as a prosecutor and legal guidance throughout the case was admirable, but rather it is your attitude as a person, the way you carry yourself that I found to be intriguing. In a way it was comforting to know I had someone like you to rely on. I hope you will not mind me saying this. Either way, hopefully this answer will be sufficient. By the way, have you readjusted well? I'm sure you must have missed Germany quite a lot during your business in the U.S.

I apologize for having kept you waiting with this letter, I have been unexpectedly busy the past few days. It is relieving to know there have been no judicial complications on your end, and I do insist that you shall spare yourself the details of idle foolish tabloid press that may reach your ears. In any case, I must express my thanks for your praise, though I must also add that I only did my duty in aiding you. Nothing less could be expected from a prosecutor like me if I am to keep my title as a prodigy. Still, thank you.
Germany is as I left it, nothing new to grow accustomed to. Things rarely ever change even in a metropolitan city such as Munich. But there is nothing to complain about with stability, returning here is always 'comforting', as you put it before. Even in your current situation, I hope you can also find comfort and stability in some things.

I had heard about you when the investigations were first initiated, so I must admit I was rather in awe of you when we had first met, knowing about your history as a first class prosecutor. My first impression of you did not deviate from what I was told about you, it was almost shocking how you were the very image of your acclaim. It's evident that you live up to your reputation fully, seeing how devoted you were to continuing to work even when your life was threatened… I realise now I haven't yet asked you about your recovery, my apologies, are you doing better at the moment? I should have opened our first conversation on paper with a get-well-soon card, now that I think about it. Though that might have been hard to come by. Anyways, it's frightening to know you were targeted and attacked like that, I don't know how you handled the situation seemingly so nonchalantly. But still, no matter how strong, such an experience can't be easy to bear. I hope you take your time with recovering, even now. Perhaps Munich will help with that.
I suppose I will also spend my days as best as I can, just a while longer.

Thank you for your concerns, I have thoroughly recovered so there is really no need to worry. It is the reality of this professional field that such incidents might occur, and I will be more prepared for the future if anything like this happens again. I also thank you for your affirmations, I regret not having been able to sincerely support you when you might have needed the help. Though I suppose it is meaningless to ponder about possibilities that were only available in the past. Even so, I see this as a learning experience, and if I am not mistaken so have you. I am certain that both of us have put behind far worse experiences, so once again one should rise above and continue living. Even if obstacles hinder my way and odds do not align in my favor, through this too I hope to become even better. Let's both pursue our paths.
