10 days
It's not coming fast enough. Izuku's been waiting long enough. All of the sleepless nights, worrying for his husband on his mission. All of the time he has gone back to his self-destructive behaviors. The quick late-night calls every few months, leaving him begging for more, begging him to stay on the phone. At least Kacchan was nice enough to leave a voicemail whenever Midoriya couldn't answer the phone which of course he listened to almost every night. I know you can't come to the phone right now, but I'm still leaving this message. I miss you, dumbass. I mean it. Don't waste your nights waiting for me to come back, don't worry about me. I can handle this. I promise I'll be back soon. Midoriya never listened though, he couldn't help but worry for him. Sure, he knows Kacchan is number one, but he's also his best friend and lover. It's only natural that he worries for him. Now, there's less worry and more excitement. The time for them to be reunited is coming.
9:00 am
He stayed up all night again. There were tear tracks on his pale, freckled cheeks by the time his alarm went off. As he was going to bed that night, he saw the one thing he's been trying to avoid for the last year and a half. Their wedding photo. He couldn't stop the tears forming in his eyes and as soon as one tear fell, he couldn't help the loud sob he let out. Soon enough, he was curled up in his- their bed having a full-on breakdown. The tears kept flowing like a kettle constantly boiling over. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop. By daybreak, he had a massive headache and a dry mouth. His eyes were heavy as he made his way downstairs to start his day.
8th of April
He went out to eat today. He wanted to celebrate Kacchan coming home. He was able to get some friends to go along with him to a local ramen shop, one of his favorites. He was able to laugh and hang out with his former classmates. It was nice to get out of the house and have fun every once in a while, especially since hero work had him constantly working recently. It was a nice change of pace.
$7.50
That's how much he spent trying to pick out the best "welcome home" card for kacchan. He couldn't find a card that explained how he felt so he bought 10 of them. Stupid, he knows. But it was the only solution he could think of. Now he just had to find some gifts to go with each card. The total amount of money he spent on the gifts and cards combined was an amount he was too ashamed to admit aloud.
6 flavors
From the time he found out when Kacchan was coming home to now, he went through 6 flavors of ice cream while stress eating. That's something he had to hide from Kacchan when he got back. That's a secret he'll take to his grave. He knew it was terrible for his body but he knew when Kacchan came back, he would worship his body in all the ways he likes despite the weight he's gained from the last time he saw him in person. He had to make up for a year and a half worth of lost cuddling, right?
5 boxes of tissue
He went through 5 boxes of tissue in one day. He watched some sad movies cuddled up next to his giant teddy bear (that he sprayed with Kacchan's cologne to make it smell more like him). Those poor dogs didn't have enough time to get to their owners. If Kacchan was here, he would be making fun of Izuku for "crying over something so stupid" while also tearing up at the move. What a hypocrite.
4 more days of this
Not much has happened. He was mostly spending his time obsessing over the house being perfect for his husband. He knew Kacchan wouldn't care when he came back but he didn't want anything to be less than perfect for the love of his life. Hell, he'd scrubbed almost every surface at least twice a day. That was something Bakugou always appreciated about Midoriya, he was always thorough with everything he did. Even if it was something minor, he wanted to make sure it was perfect. They were both the same in this aspect, but Bakugou was a little more intense. This was gonna be perfect
3 hours
The time was almost here. Kacchan was coming home today and there was no chance that he would miss it. He was determined to hear those two words. Those two little words that made the wait worth it. He looked out of the window at every little noise he heard outside. He knew that it wasn't Bakugou, but it couldn't hurt to check. Just a bit longer...
2 times
Two times he almost fell asleep. Two times he risked missing the moment he's been waiting for. He had been sure to drink coffee, why was he already nodding off? This couldn't happen, not now. All of his waiting, all of his tears and smiles would go down the drain because his stupid brain wouldn't stay awake. Kacchan is gonna be so disappointed if he finds him sound asleep on the couch instead of in front of the door waiting for him. He would carry the guilt for the rest of his life. This wasn't how it was supposed to turn out. He just had to stay awake a little longer, just a few more minutes. That's all
1 sound
Keys. He heard the keys jingling right outside of the door. He swears he had never moved so fast in his life. Bakugou couldn't get in the door before he was tackled almost to the ground. He didn't hesitate to hug back. Of course, he didn't. Why would he? This was just as bad for him as it was for Izuku. But now they were here, holding each other on their porch as if the other would die if they let go. Izuku was a mess of tears and snot and incoherent babbling. "Kacchan....missed you so much...never stopped thinking...don't ever leave for that long again," were the few words and phrases he could catch. He wiped his tears as he chuckled. "You idiot." His insult held no venom because he was also near sobbing and squeezing his dork of a boyfriend. "Let's go in, we'll get sick out here. I think we both need some rest."
