Work Header

Of course we're doing this together again.

Summary:

Law should have known that it wouldn't stay with one time after last year.
Sighing as soon as he saw Shanks and Benn seated in the restaurant he and Luffy entered he felt sorry for the waitress at what was no doubt going to follow.

Notes:

For my darling Phoy, hope you like it, babe! Happy White Day!
This is a continuation of the piece I wrote last Valentine's day, because I could.

Work Text:

Law had a feeling he should be expecting this when he opened the door to the restaurant they had booked for their Valentine’s date, rolling his eyes when Shanks and Benn looked up from the table no doubt close to theirs as the older men were sitting.

Shanks’ eyes started to gleam as soon as Luffy entered, the two of them meeting in a hug even before Law could ask the waitress passing by which one was theirs. The flustered waitress, seeing just who was standing in front of her, gestured to the three other tables close to Shanks and Benn set up for couples.

Making his way to Shanks and Luffy, he shook Benn’s hand, “What are the odds the other two are joining us here too?”

Benn laughs, “I think we should just assume they’ll arrive in a bit. The Whitebeard Remnant is close, we ran into them the day before yesterday so that’s a given.”

Law shakes his head, sneaking a look at his lover who was still hugging Shanks close as he was talking about everything they may have missed since the last time they were together, “We just arrived close yesterday, and Sabo has a habit of popping up wherever he wants to be.”

Benn snorts at that, nodding towards the door where Koala and Sabo were entering. Upon seeing them standing there Koala rolls her eyes before jabbing her partner in the side before stepping towards them. Sabo on his turn just gravitates towards Luffy for a hug of his own before being swept up by Shanks as well.

They were gathering quite a lot of attention from the other patrons, who realized the Pirate King and two Yonko were present and on good terms it would seem.

“You know, maybe we should all just coordinate a valentine’s date between the three of us and Marco, we’re most likely going to end up at the same place anyway.”

Greeting Koala where she stepped closer to them, Law and Benn shared a look before agreeing to that. This was the second year in a row they had all chosen the same spot to have their Valentine’s date at.

Benn chuckled, “Shanks was adamant we come here for our date, I think he might have let it slip to Ace and he told his brothers for all of us to be here again. It’s nice though, it gives us all a moment to catch up together.”

Before anything else is said, the door opens again to allow Marco and Ace to enter. A sigh leaving him as Marco turned to his lover to ask if he had this planned out after they met up with Shanks two days ago. Ace’s answer most likely being positive, making Marco also roll his eyes, pushing his lover towards the still hugging group of Shanks, Luffy and Sabo while he made his way to Law, Koala and Benn.

“Should have known this would happen -yoi.”

Benn grins,” Not happy to see us, Marco?”

The deadpan look on the blond’s face says it all, although he does elaborate, “It’s not that and you know it -yoi. It’s almost as if we’re just going to run into each other each and every time we set something like this up.”

Koala chuckled, “It’s why I proposed to just arrange it together next year and spare us the trouble of finding out the moment itself that we’re all together again.”

Humming at that, before nodding, settling that part at least. They make their move towards their partners to get them out of the hug Luffy’s arms pulled them into. Taking a seat at one of the tables set up for a couple. All of them looked over the menu to be certain they could order when the waitress appeared again.

The poor girl seemed to be overwhelmed by the big names sitting in her corner, palling as they looked at her before ordering one after the other. Her face went even paler when she heard the amount of food that was ordered. Shanks, Benn, Koala and Law had a normal amount of food, with Marco just a bit more, Sabo was ranking in too much for a normal human, where Luffy and Ace ordered an inhuman amount of it. They grinned at their waitress when she asked if they were going to be able to finish it all, seemingly distressed that it wouldn’t get finished and she’d be left with so many full plates.

Koala snorted, “Don’t worry, miss. Whatever we don’t eat Luffy will gladly stuff down his throat. You won’t be finding full plates on these tables tonight.”

Still not convinced, she nodded and left their table to go and order their food at the kitchen. Sneaking peeks back now and then, stopping at other patrons’ tables to assure them that the powerhouses they were seeing were there on a date and not to cause trouble.

Shanks let a chuckle past his lips, “The poor girl didn’t know what to do with us, even though we all made our reservations over the den den.”

Ace shrugged, “She didn’t sound like the woman I spoke to though, maybe she’s new. Must be hard to have this as your first day.”

They all laughed at that, realizing that it would be quite a shock to have to serve two emperors, the Pirate King, two high ranking revolutionaries and two former Yonko crewmembers - who might as well be Yonko themselves.

They descended into chatter after that, making sure to catch up with everyone. Even if they did run into each other now and again, making sure to at least see each other once every few months it was nice to just be able to talk about what had happened in the time since their last meeting.

When the food started coming out, quiet descended over the tables as they all ate and enjoyed the amazing meal. Luffy and Ace, as expected, were the ones eating the most. Plates from the other tables that hadn’t been finished were handed down until they were all on one side.

Both gluttons huffed as they patted their full stomach, not that you could see they had eaten so much. Both were still sporting amazing abs, to the envy of just about every other man in the restaurant.

When the waitress passed by to collect their plates she stood there gaping for a second or two, obviously not believing them when they told her they would clear off every plate before leaving the establishment. Paying their due, Luffy and Shanks exchanged pleased looks which had the others stopping and turning back to the two of them.

“What did the two of you plan behind our backs?”

As expected, Luffy turned his head as he said, “Nothing”, making it a very obvious lie.

Shanks laughed, before reaching into his cloak and taking out tickets for Uta’s new show on the very island they were on.

“Uta is performing here, she got us the best seats too, and we’re expected backstage once the show is over.”

Marco, Ace, Koala and Sabo, all who had never been to one of her shows. But who had heard her sing more than once, grinned at that, taking a hold of a ticket before following Shanks and Luffy to where they were allowed entrance. Once again a lot of people looked on in awe at their group.

Once the show was over and they made their way backstage, some muscle man tried to stop them. Only to stop when Uta herself came from her dressing room, “Gentlemen, I sure hope you’re not keeping my dad and brothers from seeing me?”

The two bodyguards shook their heads before allowing them passage, almost stopping Koala as she was a girl, just for Uta to glare at them.

Once those two were further away she beamed at them all, “It’s so good to see you!”

Hugging Shanks and Benn first, she went around to Luffy, Ace and Sabo before allowing them to introduce their lovers. Law, she had already known, seeing Marco and Koala made her grin widely before greeting them politely with another grin in Ace and Sabo’s direction. She had so much to share with his brothers’ lovers, if they found the time for it.

“Was Luffy able to keep it a secret, or did he spill it before dinner?”

Law chuckled, “He was surprisingly able to keep it a secret from all of us, a nice surprise too. I didn’t know you were performing again.”

Uta hummed, “Here and there, and always on an island under dad’s territory. The marines still haven’t given up on their pursuit of me, or any of us really.”

This got them all laughing, before settling down again to enjoy a nice evening with family. Valentine’s Day might be a day usually celebrated between couples, and they had that part down already. But to celebrate with family was just as good.
