Work Text:
Green eyes bore holes into her soul, delicate hands seem to be addicted to brushing against a sculpted arm and a built shoulder, a soft bottom lip appearing to be perpetually trapped between teeth.
She makes a joke, she chuckles in response.
The deep chuckle I’ve gotten so accustomed to through our time together.
The deep chuckle that I selfishly believe know belongs to me.
“You want your drinks or not, lady? I’ve got work to do.” The bartender shouts over the heavy bass, shoving the drinks in front of me as I lean over the bar, craning my neck to keep my partner and her little friend in my line of sight.
“My apologies. Thank you.” I nod politely. They’re gone before I’m done.
Wrapping my fingers around each glass and lifting both, making my way toward the odd pair.
“Feel like we hardly see you down here anymore, Vi. Don’t tell me you’ve completely switched teams.” She pouts, her doe eyes shining under the strobing lights of the club.
Vi chuckles, her hands dug deep inside the pockets of her red leather jacket, her feet planted confidently on the ground.
Before I know it, I’m sneaking up behind her and wrapping my arms around her shoulders, presenting her drink to her.
“Hello, my darling.” She grabs onto my arms lightly, holding me close as I kiss her on her cheek, then her forehead, the side of her nose after that, and finally a sweet peck right on her lips.
I can feel the woman’s stare and it doesn’t scare me. Quite the opposite, if anything.
Would it be bad if I said it was exhilarating? Exhilarating to know whoever could possibly be interested in my girlfriend is well aware of how unavailable she is.
“Hey, babe.” Vi takes her drink from my hand, but I don’t move away, I pull her closer.
I smile down at those soft eyes and her sweet scars. The ones I spend hours staring into, the ones I cause to roll back each night. The ones I get to kiss and trace as much and as long as I please.
“Not going to introduce me to your friend, Vi?” I may be reading into things, but I feel as if I hear a hint of smugness to her tone.
Friend. As if I’m not seconds away from putting a ring on Vi’s finger and legally changing her last name.
“Oh, yeah, you know Cait.” The hands wrapped around my wrists squeeze tighter, her smile beaming brighter. Just for me.
“My very own partner in crime,” she finishes, her rough voice with its sly vowels.
“Cait, you’re the infamous girlfriend.” As if it could possibly be anyone else.
“Yes, I am. And it’s Caitlyn.” I try not to let the bite show, but there’s nothing I can do once it’s out. “And how do you know my love?”
Am I laying it on thick? Of course. Am I embarrassed? The alcohol has gotten rid of that one long ago.
“Oh, all the kids in the Lanes knew each other one way or another. Hookups, skipped classes, slightly illegal escapades and all.” She chuckles, lightly hitting Vi’s arm as she does so before she catches herself.
“I shouldn’t say that, should I? Wouldn’t want the famous Enforcers to be on my case.”
The frustrating thing is: I totally understand why Vi would be interested in her.
She’s quite pretty with her thick hair and full lips, doe eyes and smug accent rather similar to Vi’s; if I wasn’t trying to mark my territory at the moment, she’d be quite kind company.
“Come on, I’m a sumprat first, dirtbag Enforcer second.”
“Didn’t think it’d be possible, I hear you’re one of the good ones.” It’s interesting how she’s perfectly balancing taunting eye contact with me through her long lashes and tender eye contact with Vi, with a full, attentive gaze.
“I won’t tell either, so your safe.”
“I’m sure you won’t, sweetheart.” I’ve learned to deal with any sly comment a Zaunite decided to throw at me considering it’s somewhat well deserved. Vi has even tossed her fair share toward me, we wouldn’t be here today if she hadn’t.
Though, it’s different when it’s a beautiful woman trying to steal my girlfriend away from me.
… I’m sure tomorrow me will realize letting the alcohol think for me was never a good idea.
“I’m terribly sorry, my darling,” I’m definitely not , “but I’m going to need to steal my girlfriend away. The dance floor calls for us.”
I don’t even give her the time to protest before I’m dragging Vi along behind me into the cluster of people grinding about in the middle of the club.
Our glasses are still in our hands as we wrap our arms around each other, her’s around my waist and mine around her neck, where they belong.
I lean in to breathe in her perfect scent as we both sway to the beat of the music. Well, we try to at least. I’m trying to not trip over my own feet and Vi’s… laughing for some reason.
“And I’m the jealous one when I’ve had a few too many,” Vi teases as her shoulders tremble, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she catches mine.
“No idea what you’re talking about.” I turn my head as we continue to sway completely offbeat, catching the beautiful woman’s gaze while she stares.
I let my unoccupied hand run through Vi’s evergrowing hair, being gentle on her roots and careful around knots.
“Cupcake, look at me.” She catches my attention with a soft run of her fingers down my spine, letting her hand settle on my hip.
“It’s hard to pay attention to anyone else when the love of my life’s in a tiny dress that looks ridiculously easy to rip off, just so you know.”
That forces me to look back at Vi, noticing her eye me up and down with blown pupils despite the little to no space between our two bodies.
“She’s a friend, babe. No need to get messed up over it.”
“Still have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m not ‘messed up’ over anything.”
She teasingly raises her scared eyebrow with a smirk and a chuckle.
My chuckle.
The sound leads to her beautiful, rough, pink lips capturing my complete interest.
I’m leaning in without even realizing and she’s doing nothing to stop it, encouraging me by pulling me impossibly closer.
Our lips and tongues dance against each other’s. I let my mouth stake its claim, knowing full and well she’s still watching.
I pull away reluctantly, still keeping my girlfriend close.
“Shall we head home? Let me show you a good time?”
“Sure, why not.”
As we make our way out, I look around for her. She’s nowhere to be seen and I’m the one exiting the building with the most precious gift on Runeterra on my arm.
I’d say that’s quite the win.
