Summary
It was a room. A very precarious state of what should be a room. Or maybe cell was a better description. There was a sink and a toilet on one side. A metal bed attached to the wall in front of her. Everything seemed very old, as if it had been stored and forgotten there for years.
Caitlyn saw she was not alone. Under the bed, occupying the smallest possible space, there was a person.
A child.
"What's your name? I'm Vi," she continued when there was no response. If Caitlyn couldn't see the girl's chest rising and falling, she'd doubt whether she was even alive. "This is Caitlyn. Who are you?"
The minutes passed. Caitlyn was already thinking of her fifth contingency plan when the child moved. An almost imperceptible movement. A slight lift of her neck, allowing for a better view of her intruders. "Lavender," her voice was thin, yet hoarse, as if it hadn't been exercised in a while.
"Nice to meet you, Lavender."

Summary
She tried to meet Caitlyn’s eyes, searching for confirmation. For something that said yes, I want this too. But Caitlyn’s gaze was locked on her lips.
That was confirmation enough.
Vi’s own eyes dropped to her mouth. “Is that something you want?” she whispered. “Me kissing you?”
Caitlyn licked her lips, nodding—just barely. But it was all Vi needed.
She moved closer. Somehow, impossibly closer. Their bodies pressed together now, foreheads touching.
“Please don’t regret this,” Vi breathed, and finally—finally—closed the distance.

"You aren't supposed to be here." the woman tells her.
"Is your name on this damn bridge?" Vi bites back, not yet opening her eyes to regain focus.
"I'm sorry but I really need this bridge to be alone and...if you could please leave, I'd appreciate it." the woman says, an accent so thick it might as well have clogged her throat.
That's it.
Vi opens her eyes and turns her head to get a good look at her.
"Listen here you—" the words got caught in her throat at that moment, her initial thought and insult that sat on the tip of her tongue.
Her grip on the railing unconsciously softened, unaware of how the tension had slowly started to slip away.
The woman was so beautiful, Vi almost didn't want to jump.
