Work Text:
Atsushi flinched when something hard hit his forehead and fell into his lap. Without looking at the object, he grabbed it and glared at the asshole who threw it.
“Akutagawa, what the fuck?”
“Put it on.” Akutagawa demanded with a flat tone. He wasn’t even looking at Atsushi, instead staring at the corner of the living room with his arms crossed as if it had personally offended him.
“Huh?”
“I said put it on. Or don’t, I don’t care.”
Finally, Atsushi looked down at the projectile. It was a blue velvet box that fit almost perfectly in the palm of his hand. Furrowing his brows, he slowly opened it. He blinked. Then, his head quickly turned back to Akutagawa, who was still glaring at the corner.
“Are you asking me to marry you?!”
“I didn’t ask you to do anything.”
“Then what the hell is this?!” Atsushi raised the open box in his hand, waving it around slightly. Inside was a silver ring with a sparkling amethyst surrounded by tiny diamonds. Atsushi couldn’t even begin to guess how expensive it was.
“...” Akutagawa finally turned his gaze to Atsushi, his eyes narrowed, “A ring, idiot.”
“An engagement ring!”
“And? Doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t ask anything.”
Atsushi groaned, rolling his eyes, “This proposal sucks, dude. Why can’t you just get on one knee and ask like a normal person?”
Akutagawa clicked his tongue, “There’s no way I’d kneel before you.”
“You did last night.”
“Oh, real mature, Jinko,” Akutagawa reached for the box, “If you’re not going to put it on, I’ll just take it back!”
Atsushi quickly held the box out of his reach, “Fuck off! I’m putting it on!” He moved over to the other end of the couch and shoved the ring on his finger with a huff.
“Wrong hand, stupid Jinko.” Akutagawa grumbled as he leaned over and grabbed Atsushi’s wrist. There was a surprising amount of gentleness as he moved the ring onto the correct hand that made Atsushi’s heart flutter just a bit.
When Akuatagwa dropped his wrist, Atsushi crossed his arms and slumped back on the couch. Now he was glaring at a corner of the room, trying to will away the warmth in his cheeks.
After a moment of awkward silence, he spoke up, “So… Are we engaged now?”
“Obviously.”
“It’s not obvious at all!” Atsushi snapped. He grabbed Akutagwa by the collar of his shirt and tugged him closer to press a kiss on his cheek, “Asshole.” He huffed as he shoved Akutagawa away, only for the mafioso to grab his shirt and pull him back for a rough kiss on the lips.
Part of Atsushi wanted to punch Akutagawa in the jaw. Another, secret part of him was overwhelmingly happy that he could now call this asshole his fiance. He let that part win for the moment.
