Work Text:

Dirk was a vampire. Not one who drinks human blood, no, but drinks the blood of animals and eats raw meat. He was out on a hunt since buying pounds and pounds of pig's blood and meat every week got expensive and it’s not like he could have a job. He made his money by building customized robotics and either shipping them or having to cover himself in foundation before meeting up with someone, and always meeting during the evening.

He heard a loud crash coming from deeper in the woods. He flinched at the sudden sound. He decided to check it out, getting on his hands and knees and crawling just in case it was a threat.

He got closer and noticed a small pod in a clearing with a small trail of blood coming out of it. The blood wasn’t red, though. It was bright green, it almost looked like it was glowing. Dirk followed the trail but still was cautious. Something fell from the sky and bleeds green. That wasn’t a good sign in his book.

Soon, he heard a voice with an English accent in the distance. It was cursing and very angry. Alternating between English and a strange-sounding language he’d never heard before. He approached closer and found the source of the noise. He peeked over the bush he was hiding behind and spotted a four-eyed humanoid creature. Definitely not human but human-adjacent. He had cyan skin with strange lines and such on it and a huge gash in his knee which was oozing out bright green blood. He didn’t have ears or a nose, just two nostrils and two holes in place of his ears. His scleras were black and his iris’ were bright green.

The creature, who he presumed was an alien, spotted him. He flinched once he met eyes with him. He ducked under the bush. “Wait! No, I’m not going to hurt you. Can you help me out?” He said loudly, causing Dirk to unsheath his sword and jump out of the bush. “Shit! Could you put that away? I said I’m not going to hurt you.” He said. Dirk hesitated but then put his sword back in its sheath. “Who are you? What are you?” Dirk questioned. He was interested but still cautious. “My name is Jake. I am a human.” He said in a tone that seemed unsure.

Dirk squinted his eyes behind his sunglasses. “Yeah, and I’m the fucking president. Tell me the truth.” He said in a stern tone of voice. Jake sighed. “Fine. I was sent here on a mission to copy information and my pod decided to cause a whole hullabaloo and break down. I’m a shapeshifter and took the information I already had of humans and applied it to myself. I heard that humans refer to each other as four eyes and I already had four eyes! It was really convenient.” He rambled. “Sorry, that probably sounded like a bunch of gobbledygook to you. I better skedaddle.” He started to limp off.

“Wait,” Dirk called out. “I can help. Here, come with me.” Jake turned around. “Oh, won’t I be a burden?” He genuinely asked. Dirk sighed. “No. I live alone in these woods and only leave for the occasional shopping trip. Come on.” He said and walked over to Jake. “Here, wrap your arm around me. I’ll help you get to my house.

Dirk had just finished cleaning and bandaging Jake's wound. “And you don’t feel lightheaded or anything?” He questioned. Jake shook his head. “Okay. Well, I’m gonna get a snack and put a movie on.” Dirk said and walked to the kitchen, grabbing some cubes of raw beef and coming back out. He sat down next to Jake, eating the meat cubes. “What’s a movie?” Jake asked. Dirk thought for a moment. “That’s a hard one to answer. Here, let me put one on.”

He decided on Avatar, thinking Jake might like it. He sat back and relaxed, Jake doing the same. Dirk finished up his snack, licked his fingers, and set the bowl down. He felt Jake’s head lean on his shoulder. He tensed up a bit before slowly putting an arm around his shoulders.

Jake’s body was warm to the touch. Warmer than a human. Dirk’s skin was cold. The sudden warmth made him shiver and then relax. Soon, he heard a quiet snoring sound coming from Jake. He fell asleep. Dirk looked at Jake and then back at the tv. Eventually, he shut the tv off and picked Jake, who was surprisingly light, to bring to his room, causing him to wake up. “Hm?” He mumbled, rubbing his eyes. “I’m bringing you to bed. You’ll be more comfortable.” He set Jake down. He basically tucked him in. “Goodnight,” Dirk said. “Night,” Jake mumbled before passing out almost instantly.
