Spring. Or maybe people say it's the season of blossoming love. In this season, people usually find their first love, the love of their life. And this is also where it all begins. The beginning of the new semester was no exception.
Rinku was waiting in front of Rei's house, wanting to invite her to go out together. They had been doing this ever since the two of them had been in a relationship.
"Sorry for waiting Rinku-san. You could have just wait inside,"
"It's okay Rei-chan. Oh yeah, it's nice to see you again,"
"Even though we just met yesterday?"
"Hmm...I don't know, a voice in my head told me to say that,"
Hearing that made Rei look panicked, "A-are you okay Rinku-san? Could you be possessed?"
Rinku who saw that immediately waved both hands, "Ah don't worry Rei-chan, they has no evil intentions,"
"But-," instantly, Rei also heard the voice that Rinku was referring to. "Ah, I think I understand Rinku-san,"
"Don't you? Then, let's go."
They left with their hands linked together. Along the way, they saw cherry blossom trees blooming on both sides of the road.
"I can't believe we're already in third grade, it's only a matter of months until we graduate from high school."
"That's right. Oh yeah Rinku-san, have you thought about what you want to do when you graduate?"
Rinku thought for a moment, then gave an answer that Rei did not understand. "I want to be rebirth,"
"Re-rebirth? What does that mean?"
"Yeah, I kind of want to be a new person?"
Rinku also looked unsure of what she was saying, making Rei think too. "But, to be honest Rinku-san, you don't need to be a new person. Just be yourself. Besides, I like the way you are,"
"Ah, c'mon Rei-chan," Rinku said as she lightly punched Rei's shoulder, trying to hide her embarrassment.
Hearing Rei's reaction earlier made Rinku think. "Rei-chan,"
"Hmm?"
She then stopped in her tracks and said, "If I wasn't the cheerful person you know now, would you still like me?"
Rei paused, thinking carefully about Rinku's question. She imagined a scenario where Rinku was a shy person. However, she was sure that even that kind of Rinku would find a way into her heart.
Smiling, she looked at Rinku once more and said, "of course,"
"No matter how you are, as long as you are Aimoto Rinku, I am sure that you will be able to make me like you."
"Aww, you know how to make your partner happy. Uh, we're getting late, let's hurry up and leave," said Rinku pulling Rei's hand.
Rei just chuckled and ran along with Rinku.
Spring is the season of meetings, but for them, every day is a yearning meeting.
