Heeseung stretched, having been stuck in one position playing a video game for too long. He glanced at the clock, 4:26, Jay would be home in approximately 4 minutes.
"Are you still there, hyung?" Jake asked through the headset Heeseung was wearing.
"Yeah." Heeseung quickly answered, "Jay's going to be home soon…"
"Oh, I didn't even realize the time." Jake laughed, then he seemed to have noticed the clock, "hyung, I gotta go."
"Who are you talking to?" a voice asked from Jake's side.
"Heeseung hyung." Jake answered the voice.
"Oh, hi Heeseungie hyung!" Jungwon had evidently stolen Jake's headset to speak to their hyung.
"Hi, Jungwon, once Jay gets home would you and Jake like to come over and order some food from that one Japanese restaurant?" the ash blond asked.
"Yeah!" both the younger men answered in unison.
"Okay, well I have to go now, see you guys later." Heeseung giggled.
"Bye hyung!" they again said in unison.
Heeseung was still giggling when he felt two strong arms wrap around him from behind.
A kiss was pressed to his temple, "honey, I'm home~" Jay said in a sing-song voice.
Heeseung smiled at his boyfriend's antics and turned to face him, "welcome back."
The vampire beamed back at him, "what have you been up to today?"
"Nothing much, I played some games with Jake." Heeseung answered, "Riki's fever still hasn't broken, I've been continually checking in on him, but there's no change."
The ravenett frowned at this news, "I swear if anything happens to him, I'm going to destroy the vampire that did this to him."
"I'm sure he will be okay, he's a lot stronger than he seems." the warlock tried to soothe Jay, knowing the vampire felt like it was his responsibility to take care of his adopted little brother.
Just then Heeseung's phone buzzed with an incoming text. The blond reached out to check it.
Wonie: hey hyung, we may be a little late, Jake's trying to find Layla
"Were we expecting company?" Jay asked when Heeseung told him what Jungwon had said.
"Oh, yeah I invited Jake and Jungwon over to eat takeout and either watch a movie or play video games together. " Heeseung answered, "besides I know how you brothers worry about Riki, I thought it would be nice for Jungwon to be able to see him without having to ask to, and by default that means inviting Jake too since Jungwon is very attached to his boyfriend."
Then a thought popped into his head, a thought he had earlier, but he had managed to be too distracted to really act on it. He opened his text conversation with Sunghoon, knowing Jay's other brother would definitely be worried about the youngest.
Heeseung: hey Hoonie, do you and Sunoo want to come over? Jake and Jungwon are coming and we're going to get some takeout
Not even a minute later he received a reply.
Hoonie: yeah, we'll be there in about an hour or so.
Heeseung smiled to himself, these brothers really are predictable with their worrying. He stood and stretched his back before heading to the kitchen where his boyfriend had disappeared to only moments before. His smile came back, becoming very soft as he watched Jay putting a red liquid into a cup and then taking that cup to Riki's room.
Heeseung followed his boyfriend to the youngest's room, gently stroking Riki's hair as Jay lifted the cup to the brunett's lips. Fresh blood would be best, but this bagged stuff would have to suffice for now, at least until Riki was strong enough to get said fresh blood himself. When Jay finished feeding Riki, he just continued to sit with his younger brother and Heeseung did the same.
Riki groaned in pain and Heeseung frowned, unfortunately his magic would not help the younger, this was something that just happened when someone was bitten by a vampire, this had happened to Jay too, many many many many years ago (close to a century if Heeseung memory served him right). Despite having seen Jay in this state before, it didn't make it any easier to see anyone else go through it as well, especially not a boy of just 17, it had been bad enough when it happened to Jay, but he had at least already turned 21. It was going to be hard for Riki who's clock would be forever frozen before he had even turned 18. Heeseung cursed himself for having sent Riki out that night to get him that herb he had needed, and now his stupid magic couldn't even help the younger?!
"I know what you're thinking, don't." Jay cupped Heeseung's face, making him look the vampire in his eyes, "I will tell you this again, this is NOT your fault, how would you have known there was a vampire nearby, hm? You couldn't have known and Riki wanted to help you." Heeseung tried to look away, but Jay didn't let him, "no one is to blame for this accident, okay? Not you, not me, not anyone. This was an accident you didn't intend on Riki getting attacked, so please stop blaming yourself."
Heeseung knew it was pointless to argue with Jay, because deep in Heeseung's heart, he knew he was right, he needed to stop blaming himself for this, it wouldn't help anything for him to continue to do so. That being said, he still couldn't help but feel like he was responsible for this happening, a feeling he pushed down for now.
They sat there in relative silence, the only sound being Riki's ragged, labored breathing. The sound only making Heeseung feel guiltier and guiltier, but he covered it well as to not let Jay know how he was feeling.
Heeseung's phone vibrated again.
Wonie: okay we finally found Layla, we're headed over now
Ddeonu: we'll be a little late Hoonie hyung is trying to find an outfit lol
Jay laughed, having read over Heeseung's shoulder, "so half our guests will be here soon and the other half may be here next week?" Heeseung laughed too, finding Jay's joke both funny and accurate.
Before long Jake and Jungwon were knocking on the apartment door. Jay got up to go answer it, Heeseung trailing close behind him.
"Hey hyungs!" Jungwon greeted as soon as he saw the older two and then the immediate next words out of his mouth were, "how's Riki doing?"
"He's still the same, his fever hasn't broken and he's not really conscious yet." Heeseung answered, his eyes downcast.
"But he'll be fine in no time." Jay said, more to Heeseung than the other two, as all four of them started walking towards Riki's room.
"How was the traffic?" Jay asked Jake while they walked.
"I mean, it was normal traffic?" Jake answered, awkward at the awkward small talk.
"Have you ordered the food yet?" Jungwon questioned, turning to face Heeseung.
"No, we're waiting for Sunghoon and Sunoo to get here." Heeseung answered, and laughed at the face Jungwon made. "perhaps I could create a portal?"
"Sounds like a good idea, hyung." Jake laughed.
Heeseung nodded, creating a portal from Sunghoon and Sunoo's apartment on Bainbridge Island to his and Jay's in Seattle. Jake looked surprised, the werewolf still clearly not used to how easy it was for Heeseung to create a portal.
Heeseung: do you see the portal in you living room?
Ddeonu: yeah?
Heeseung: push Sunghoon through it
Ddeonu: okie dokie hyung, see you guys in a little bit!
A few minutes later Sunghoon was standing in Riki's room, followed moments later by his pixie boyfriend.
"That was incredibly rude, you could have waited a little bit longer." Sunghoon said indignantly, Sunoo patted him on the back comfortingly.
"We didn't feel like waiting til next week." Jay teased, ruffling his brother's hair.
Heeseung smiled watching them, and then frowned, his gaze flickering to the youngest brunett for a moment, Riki should be there too…
As if sensing his boyfriend's gloomy thoughts, Jay gave Heeseung an indecipherable look, something between sympathy and reprimanding. Heeseung smiled at him, a smile that didn't reach his eyes.
Jay notices this and whispers in the warlock's ear, "everything will be okay."
