Please.
King stared into Uea’s eyes, begging him to tell him that Uea chose him. He didn’t know what to do anymore.
He respected that Uea didn’t want to be in a relationship after what he’d gone through with his ex-boyfriend, but King was so in love with Uea that the continual rejection hurt.
King’s mother asked him to go to an arranged marriage meeting, and he hoped that Uea would tell him not to go. One word would have been enough, even an inkling of verbal resistance and he would tell his mother that he was taken. He wanted to be taken.
Even so, King wouldn’t leave Uea to deal with their creepy boss. His heart tightened as he smiled slightly at Uea after being put in his place once more, “Can you tell me when you work over time?”
Looking at Uea's unsmiling face, he didn’t wait for him to reply.
“I’ll wait for you,” King said, holding tightly to hope. King would also wait until Uea was ready to give him more.
Uea made his heart beat.
“We are just bed friends,” Uea replied, cutting off any delusions he may have. “You don’t have to do this.”
King's face dropped instantly. Is that it? You never felt more for me and you never will?
King looked into Uea’s eyes, his lips neither up or down and he felt Uea’s cold indifference toward him. He didn’t want to admit that he was right.
I’ve always been delusional when it comes to you, King thought, trying to find something in Uea that would mean he wasn’t alone in his feelings.
But instead Uea walked away.
King turned his head enough to watch his back get farther away.
Uea stopped, not far from him. King was not willing to look away in case Uea acknowledged him once more.
Turn around, King took in a breath. He could feel his eyes become wet. Look at me. Don’t walk away. One word would be enough. One time. I’ll wait for ten years with a single word from you.
He didn’t.
King knew he wouldn’t.
Uea had made his choice and it wasn’t him.
King heard the footsteps of Uea walking up the steps, he turned around and watched him leave. The door shutting on his feelings.
What right did I have to love him anyway?
He turned back to where Uea was standing before. Resilient, and strong Uea. I’ll never be enough for you.
King laughed at himself, Uea wouldn’t love him. He had one-sidedly fallen in love.
His heart hurt.
King sat on the stairs with his hair knotted around his fingers. I’ve lost my mind.
It took him twelve hours to fix himself, when he finally thought he could look Uea in the face again, he didn’t show up for work.
When he did, Krit yelled at everyone to send him to his office.
King’s stomach dropped when Jade told him that Uea was already there alone.
Get him out.
