Anakin's eyes are blue.
They are as blue as his lightsaber.
As blue as Obi-Wan's lightsaber that's plunged right into his chest and coming out of his back.
Slowly, over the course of the fight, Anakin's eyes have turned from the sickly Sith yellow to the bright vibrant blue that Obi-Wan adores. The eyes which looked at him in both awe and love so many times as both child and adult. The eyes which convey too much emotions because Anakin was never able to stop himself from being expressive. The eyes which held so much pain and sadness yet were so kind and gentle when dealt with children and poor civilians who were caught in the battles during war.
Obi-Wan doesn't know how those eyes; those wonderful and precious eyes turned into that wretched colour. How they were able to hold so much hate and anger. How they looked at younglings and didn't show remorse when their owner impaled them with his own blue lightsaber, a sharp contrast against the colour of his eyes.
If there's any reason Obi-Wan had thought that Anakin's lightsaber suits him, it was for his eyes. They match. Anakin's lightsaber is just as powerful and bright as Anakin himself. As Anakin's eyes. But then Anakin turned Sith, and his eyes no longer matched with his lightsaber and everything looked so wrong that the Force kept on screaming and screeching into Obi-Wan's ears for the entirety of their duel.
Those weren't the eyes of Obi-Wan's emotional and spiritual son and brother, whom had looked up to Obi-Wan with earnest eyes and a loving smile on his face whenever Obi-Wan had a panic or anxiety attack. They weren't blue.
They were yellow. Golden even. In a way, it matches with Anakin's golden halo of curls. But it's still so very wrong that Obi-Wan wants to do nothing but scream in pain along with the Force. Because how can his little brother, his small Padawan, the son he never had, have cold golden eyes?
Those cursed eyes which watched in cold satisfaction as the Jedi were brutally murdered. Eyes which watched in glee as Anakin swung his still very blue lightsaber and shoved it into the Separatists' chests. Eyes which watched with happiness as Anakin swung left and right till every small child lay on his feet. Children who spent their time admiring Anakin and have probably thought he was there to save them. They trusted him so blindly because how can Master Skywalker ever hurt them?
"Master Skywalker! There are too many of them! What are we going to do?!"
Anakin's resolve was so cold and silent and so unlike him. It wasn't Anakin. It couldn't be Anakin. If it were Anakin, it certainly wasn't his Anakin. Obi-Wan knows his Padawan. Anakin would never-
"S-" Anakin heaved from where he is still standing upright, thanks to Obi-Wan's lightsaber that's still impaled in his chest.
Obi-Wan stared at him in the eyes, mouth wide open and tears running freely down his cheeks. If anyone were to point out the fact that he is crying to him, he wouldn't even acknowledge them or even look their way. He is still busy staring at Anakin. Anakin with his blue eyes, wide and bright as they usually are. Anakin's expressive blue eyes that could pierce Obi-Wan's heart with the betrayal and relief shinning in them.
Obi-Wan's fingers shook, the lightsaber de-ignited and fell from his hands, Anakin falling with it just in time. Obi-Wan shouted his name, his grief over Anakin's actions long forgotten, and immediately dropped to reach him before the ground could. Because no matter what, this is Anakin. Obi-Wan's Anakin with his bright blue eyes.
"So- Sorry-" Anakin coughed, blood coating his teeth and lips. Obi-Wan could barely see his image from his tears, but he was too afraid to wipe his own eyes and remove his hands from Anakin. It felt like if he removed his hands, then Anakin will slip away and Obi-Wan would realise that it's reality-
"Sorry-" Anakin coughed again, his flesh hand shaking so awfully as it reached up ever so slowly that Obi-Wan had to grab it to cease its shaking. His hand was pale, blue veins popping and so bony.
"L-Love you-" Anakin coughed again, this time more roughly than before, his lips turning blue and suddenly, Obi-Wan sees this colour everywhere.
He barely registered Anakin's words, but when he did, he willed his mouth to form the words and his throat made the sounds. Qui-Gon and Satine both died without knowing of Obi-Wan's love towards them. Obi-Wan can't let the same happen to Anakin.
Force, Anakin is the one dying in his arms this time.
"I love you too dear one," Obi-Wan choked, his voice barely recognisable even to him, but still loud and clear enough for Anakin to hear. "I love you too. More than anything, more than anyone. Please, forgive me please-"
The bond between them snapped.
Obi-Wan screamed just as the Force did. He felt it. Like a millions of dying stars. Triple the pain of losing the Jedi. Grief bigger than a Supernova. Scream louder than this of a thousand planets. His heart was broken beyond repair now, trying to catch up with the losses over the last few hours-
Dear Force it's only been a few hours-
Anakin was standing in front of him and apologising over how he wasn't a good Jedi and how he should be better. Obi-Wan had smiled at him and reassured him that he is a far greater Jedi than Obi-Wan himself could ever be. He told him he's proud of him and had felt so lucky to be called Anakin's best friend. Wasn't this enough? Wasn't their bond enough for Anakin? Could Obi-Wan have done more?
Only a few hours-
Obi-Wan can't understand how it all happened. His memory is blurry and hazy, full of lightsaber fights, full of death and loss and-
Blue.
Obi-Wan's breath hitched with wet sobs, only being able to make out Anakin's blue eyes. Anakin's blue still ignited lightsaber on the side. Anakin's blue veins. Anakin's blue bloody lips.
Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue.
Everywhere Obi-Wan looked, he could only see blue. He felt like throwing up but feared that if he did, the colour would be blue as well. Blue is such a dreadful colour. Obi-Wan has never realised this before.
Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue. Blue.
The Sith's lightning is blue.
The Sith.
Sidious.
Sidious who has groomed Anakin to be his hound dog. Who wanted to leash him and make him kill his enemies for him. Who wanted to turn Anakin into his own weapon and it worked right under Obi-Wan's nose.
Sidious.
Sidious will pay.
When Obi-Wan looked at himself in one of the destroyed platforms, his eyes were the sickly yellow of the Sith.
