Work Text:
Atsushi woke up to an empty bed, his boyfriend was nowhere to be seen. In a panic, he sat up and frantically turned his head left and right.
Stargazing...
...Thank goodness they’re fine.
He rested his hand on his chest, then Atsushi exhaled.
Atsushi lifted the blanket off him. He swiftly wore his slippers and sat up on the bed, his legs dangled from the side.
Junichirou was sat behind the telescope they had once brought the last time they went stargazing with Atsushi and the others.
Atsushi smiled at the sight, the memory popping into his mind. It was the first time he’d ever went stargazing with other people, let alone one he still couldn’t believe is his partner.
Atsushi mentally debated on walking over to Junichirou, hesitant to disturb the other on their activity. He silently watched as Junichirou took out their notebook about celestial objects, then they quickly adjusted the telescope, moving it to the side.
Atsushi sighed dreamily. How the moonlight hit Junichirou’s face perfectly, how Junichirou looked as peaceful as ever, how energetic their eyes seemed to be, Atsushi loved every bit of it.
Atsushi’s smile dropped. He wasn’t sad. No, he was in fact, far from that... Atsushi was thinking, wondering what was going on in his boyfriend’s mind.
Junichirou yawned then stretched their arms, sighing once they placed their hands on the floor. A smile made its way to their face and, oh, was Atsushi dying to know what caused Junichirou to do so.
Atsushi was still sat on the bed, content as he watched Junichirou tuck away the telescope for safekeeping. The window was still open and Atsushi wanted to do a little stargazing of his own.
Maybe another time, Atsushi thought, Juni and I could go camping when we celebrate another month of being boyfriends.
Snowflakes soon surrounded Atsushi, and a playful voice called out to him, “I know you’re awake.”
“Hi, Juni. You can stop Light Snow.”
Junichirou appeared before Atsushi, their tired eyes now more evident up close in comparison to when Atsushi admired his partner from afar.
Junichirou sat on the bed beside Atsushi and dropped their head on his shoulder. “D’you know why I was up?” They lazily asked.
“Well, I wish I knew.”
Atsushi lifted Junichirou’s head for a bit, letting their partner be more comfortable in such a position.
Neither of them wanted to lie down, there was something far more intimate for the two about resting one’s head on their partner’s shoulder, rather than laying in bed next to each ofther.
Junichirou laughed, although barely, “I’ll tell you... I was talking with the stars.”
Atsushi closed his eyes as he answered, “Really? The stars?”
“Mhm,” Junichirou closed their eyes as well. They sighed before continuing, “Then the moon interrupted us. She wanted to tell me something about the sun. How she couldn’t imagine life without them.”
“And what did you reply?”
Junichirou answered, “Well, I said I had someone in my life like that as well; a sun of my own. So, I told the moon about you.”
“That’s nice. Sad I wasn’t awake to hear that, though.”
“It’s kind of a private conversation.”
Atsushi yawned. “I see...”
The couple was quiet, and they could feel the other about to fall asleep.
“Hey, Atsushi.” Junichirou lifted themselves off of Atsushi’s shouoder. “We should...” They placed their hands together and pressed it to their cheek.
After months of staying up with Junichirou in the Tanizaki sibling’s place, Atsushi was well-acquainted with his boyfriend’s actions. “Ah! Of course.”
Junichirou waited for Atsushi to lie down before they did. Atsushi was facing them, and they gently swept away the hair that was falling on Atsushi’s face. Junichirou kissed Atsushi’s cheek. “Sleep well, Atsushi.”
“You too, Juni. Love you, good night...”
“I love you too.”
