Venti's Song for Diluc

Summary:

Venti is in a mischievous mood and he feels Diluc's grumpiness needs addressed.

Work Text:

It was just a sip here and there, nothing much. That wasn’t really the problem, well not for Venti anyway. No, Diluc was the problem. He was quite grumpy and while Venti was usually let to play for wine in exchange, Diluc was having none of that today.

He kept looking over at the bard, who may have been slightly tipsy, but still at it. Tipsy Venti didn’t like the grumpy looks that could only lead to his being kicked out, so he wrote a song to lighten the mood. Diluc didn’t like that either, his face grew more stern as Venti sang:

Diluc, Diluc, dark as night
Always serious, never light
With a scowl upon your face
You could use a little grace

That was it, Diluc was after him, but Venti wasn’t done, oh no, he had much more ‘praise’ for the young man and so they ran around the bar while Venti sang on:

Diluc, Diluc, master of wine
But your attitude does not shine
Can’t you let loose and have some fun
Instead of being on the run

At this point Diluc was willing to jump over tables to get to Venti and the bard actually thought some of the leaps were quite impressive, but with wind as his friend he sent himself twirling into the air. He had yet to finish his song after all:

So come on Diluc, don’t be shy
Let’s dance and sing until we die
And when the night is finally through
You’ll thank me for annoying you! -AH!

Venti had stayed still for too long and Diluc had caught him by the leg, pulled him down and was already hauling him out the door.

“Oh come on, Master Diluc!” Venti said as he struggled against the tall man, “How’s a bard supposed to get his wine?!”

Diluc crossed his arms and glared at the nearly drunk bard, “Consider yourself cut-off. And for that song, don’t come back tomorrow!” He yelled as he closed the door.

Venti stared at the door for a moment. This meant he’d have to go to the Cat’s Tail and that meant cats. Cats meant he’d be sneezing between every lyric. He shrugged to himself and smiled, “Worth it!” he said as he skipped off to the next bar.
