Chapter Text
Solo, a boy with short white hair, was twirling his pen in his hand. His narrowed eyes showed the immense state of boredom he was in. Solo was in this class for 7 years without any hope of moving on.
"Man this shit is so boring," he said out loud. The other students looked back at him. They were taking a test to advance to the next grade and they could finally learn intermediate techniques for Science battles. Solo didn't care. In fact, he finished his test in a matter of seconds.
Several hours passed and The testing period was over, and it was time for the results.
"Okay, the test is over, put your pencils down and pass your papers up, soon I'll give you your results back and I'll call you if there is something extra that needs to be said. Y'all can chatter or whatever you young folk do." He said as he put his glasses on. The students then began chatting, everyone but Solo had someone to talk to.
Solo sat in the back, furthest from the window and most people didn't notice he was in the class. Solo hated science. He hated everyone from the Scientific Curriculum. Minutes passed and the results were passed back. Once again Solo failed, and everyone else around him passed. He was also the only one the teacher called for a meeting.
"Solo... what are we going to do with you?" The teacher asked. Solo looked to his side.
"you can start by passing me," Solo said angrily.
The teacher then sighed.
"Solo, listen. I can't just pass you. It will set you up for failure. You won't get far in this shark-eat-fish world. If I just pass you, you will be the fish..." the teacher stated angering Solo.
"listen to me dumbass," Solo said slamming his hands on the desk angrily and standing up out of his chair. The teacher remained calm.
"Listen I understand how you feel, but this school is my best option for you. I can't let you go". The teacher tried to reason with him. Solo looked away angry and sat back down in his seat.
"okay fine, I got nothing else to say anyway". he said. "I have a recommendation for you. If you win, I'll pass you and you have to go to any curriculum, and any school you want." The teacher said to catch Solo's attention.
"you have to fight the top student of this school and you'll be granted a pass from this and get a special program, but if you lose..." The teacher said. Solo nodded.
"you'll have to go to the worst school with the worst curriculum," The teacher said. Solo knew all the risks and decided.
"I will fight the strongest in the school..." Solo said smiling. The teacher then extended his hand for a handshake. Solo smirked and didn't shake his hand.
"Thanks, pops, I might actually get somewhere," Solo said rudely while walking out of the room making the teacher sigh.
"you have until tomorrow to prepare, then you will report to the school at 8:00 A.M alright? Solo didn't respond but he heard the old man and he walked out.
"Man, I'm going to pass so easily. That kid is going to get the beating of his life unless he just submits to me and gives up from the beginning" Solo said snarkily as he walked home.
when he got home, his sister Una was sitting at the dinner table with her self-proclaimed brother, Takarith. Solo saw this.
"aw, you two aren't dating are you?" Solo asked waking in the room. Una then looked at Solo and sighed.
"idiot, don't come in here with your bullshit," she said angrily. Takarith was a shy boy so he just smiled softly and looked away from Solo. He had long black hair with green dye littered over his hair. His skin was smooth and a well-saturated caramel color. He wore a black tank top and a red jacket that was half-zipped and exposing his shoulders. Takarith also wore pants that were black and shredded, and since he was inside, he had black socks. He was short and had a cute feminine face, standing around 5'3 ft.
Una on the other hand was very demanding and bossy toward Solo, but was very hospitable, and almost simp-like towards Takarith for some reason. She always yelled at Solo for anything and would scold him for hours sometimes. She had long almost black-blue hair, wore a night gown and was barefoot. She was Solo's older sister by 3 years and was taller than him, standing at 6'2 ft.
"go take a shower and your dinner is in the microwave" Una ordered demandingly. Solo sighed.
"so this is a date?" Solo teased. Una then growled while blushing.
"shut up asshole" She muttered before stomping her way upstairs leaving Takarith and Solo alone.
"So Takarith, how's it going, she isn't being too mean is she?" Solo asked smugly. Takarith smiled.
"no, actually she's always been nice to me. you're lucky you get treated like trash around her" Takarith stated. Takarith was a masochist and loved being treated like filth, despite being shy. He also has fantasies of Una having bonding time with him.
"Solo, do you think she's going to ever treat me like filth?" Takarith asked. Solo turned to him.
"uhh, no. you're the third strongest on the math side. I don't think anyone's messing with you. even if you wanted it" Solo said. Takarith sighed.
"Man, I hate being strong. It takes the fun out of being rag-dolled. At least I can protect you two" Takarith said smiling. Solo then frowned.
"I don't need protection from you, I'm going to a new school," Solo said proudly. Takarith's eyes lit up.
"So... you finally passed?" Takarith asked cutely. Solo shook his head.
"First I have to beat the strongest person in our class, then I can choose which curriculum I want to go to, and also get a special training session from the best of the best," Solo said excitedly. Takarith was smiling.
"good on you Solo," he said. Una then walked in.
"Takarith, there's more food if you're hungry," Una said cuddling him.
"i-im fine, I have to get going soon... Maybe I'll see you tomorrow " Takarith said cutely. Una was saddened but cheered back up because of his cuteness.
"sure thing, little brother," she said despite them not being blood-related. Takarith was leaving but then decided to help Una with the dishes before he left. while he was doing that, Solo was upstairs taking a shower. Once he got out Takarith had left.
"All alright, idiot. come down and eat your dinner, then go to sleep. you have a long day tomorrow." Una said leaving Solo alone. Solo sat alone for the remainder of the day, with nobody to talk to. nobody to chat with. Just ambient silence. Solo finished his food and laid down on his bed slowly drifting to sleep.
Solo woke up with a sharp pain in his head and saw Una. She had a broom in his hands.
"Solo, what the hell was all that screaming?" she asked annoyed. Solo didn't listen to her and was still in thought. Una then growled and walked to him. She then walked up to him and hit him upside the head with the broom making him flinch and he realized she hit him.
"IDIOT, I KNOW YOU HEARD ME!" she yelled in rage. Solo then rubbed his head.
"no, I didn't," he said. He then looked over at the clock and saw the time. it was 7:47 and he had to get going.
"uh oh," Solo said as he shot out of bed and started undressing making Una cover her face
"idiot, what the hell?" she asked shielding her eyes. Solo then responded.
"if you don't want to see, then leave," he said putting a new pair of clothes on.
"Well, what's so important anyway?" Una asked unshieding her eyes and crossing her arms. Solo looked at her for a second and smiled.
"you'll see in around 10 minutes he said as he ran downstairs and out the door in a second leaving Una perplexed.
As Solo ran to school he ran into Takarith who was feeding birds at the park. When Solo arrived the birds flew away.
"HEY! I was feeding those..." Takarith said sadly Solo then shook his head.
"forget about that. I'm going to be as great as you ya know" he said. Takarith raised an eyebrow.
"huh?" Takarith asked. Solo frowned.
"very soon, I'll be a high rank," Solo said to Takarith then started smiling.
"Solo, do you honestly getting to High rank status is easy?" Takarith asked. Solo then twitched his right eye.
"of course you stupid femboy. If you made it as quick as you did, it should be easy for me" Solo said making Takarith shake his head.
"Solo, since I'm a masochist I liked your insult, but know this. I suffered just to think about being a high rank, and getting to this status was even worse. Please don't go into this thinking it's going to be easy" Takarith said. Solo then frowned.
"fine, if you don't think I can do it, I'll prove you wrong," Solo said as he ran off.
"he's so dramatic," Takarith said as he stared into the sky smiling.
It was 7:55 and Solo arrived at the school. Solo's teacher, Mr. Burns was waiting for him. Solo approached Mr.Burns with a fiendish smile on his face.
"hey old man, I'm ready," Solo said. Burns then looked up at him and stood up.
"Ah Solo, I knew you wouldn't pass this opportunity up. Right follow me and we will begin the fight." Mr. Burns said leading Solo to the Sports Arena in the school. When he got there he looked out the window and saw the arena. it was sold out and all 70,273 people filled the arena. Solo had never seen anything like this before.
"wow, all these people are going to see me win huh?" Solo said confidently. Mr. Burns didn't react because he knew what was going to happen.
"the elevator took them to the bottom of the floor and they were in the locker room. The two then walked to the entrance area.
"All alright Solo, this is your big chance, don't blow it," Mr. Burns said extending his hand. Solo once again looked at it and slapped it away.
"I won't old man," he said as he walked to the entrance stage. As he walked on stage the crowd noise instantly affected him. He's never been in front of so many people. But that didn't last long because after standing for 3 seconds the crowd suddenly stopped cheering and it got silent. Solo was confused.
"Why did they stop cheering," he thought. the crowd gave him nasty looks and death glares. As he looked around, he saw Una and Takarith in one of the seats to the left of him.
"Hello, Solo!" Takarith yelled waving at him. Solo smiled and waved back as he made his way to the Battle Arena.
"Welcome our first fighter, SOLO FLOURON!" the announcer said without enthusiasm. The crowd was still dead silent except for Takarith who was cheering Solo on. Una had her arms crossed and watched from afar. In seconds The lights went out and the Crowd started to go crazy.
"huh, what's going on," Takarith asked. When the light came back on a figure was standing at the entranceway. It was Solo's opponent.
The crowd roared. The females screamed and held up signs of him. The males were cheering for him and yelling for him too. Takarith then started to fear the worst was going to happen for Solo.
"And his opponent, WEBSTER DANVERS!" the announcer yelled full of passion and enthusiasm. Solo then made the most jealous face ever. Webster even had fireworks.
"uh, Una who is this Webster dude?" Takarith asked. he was unfamiliar because he is from the Mathematic Curriculum and knows almost nothing about the Scientific Curriculum.
Una who had hearts in her eyes looked at Takarith angrily making his scared, but also it made him... smile.
"Webster is the hottest, cutest, strongest, most perfect man right now, nobody in his Grade can beat him," Una said clasping her hands together.
"Are you worried about Soichi?" Takarith asked.
"F*ck him, Webster is all I care about," Una said comedically making Takarith chuckle slightly.
"When Webster entered the Battle arena, his aura completely shook Solo to his core. Webster then walked up to Solo and was way taller than him.
Webster had short black hair and a black tuxedo, with a rose on his chest. Webster also wore black pants, and he also had black shoes on. His eyes were cold and lifeless and had a red scar down his left cheek. He was 6 feet tall.
"You don't stand a chance kid, leave the area and you won't get hurt," Webster said coldly making Solo shiver. Solo kept his composure and
began to laugh.
"oh please, I don't need anyone else to fight my battles for me".
"you're not fighting anyone kid, you're getting murdered," Webster said walking closer to Solo. Solo smiled at him.
"look, you're not strong enough to beat me, so don't kid yourself," Solo said smugly. Webster then growled and his eyes lit up
"nobody will stop me!" Webster yelled. he then stomped the ground creating a crack. Metal balls came out of the ground and surrounded Solo.
"what the?" he asked slightly frightened. Webster then yelled.
"infinite momentum," he said as he rushed toward Solo. Solo barely dodged the attack, but then A metal ball hit him in the face leaving a bruise making the crowd go ooh. Webster looked back over his shoulder in rage and his eyes still glowed. Solo growled and rushed toward him and tried to punch Webster. Webster dodged him and grabbed his arm. Webster then bent his arm backward and kneed him in the stomach. As Solo tried to recover, Webster then balled his fist and punched Solo in the eye causing him to recoil backward. Solo then recovered and tried to punch Webster again but this time Webster parried it and slapped Solo on the face stunning him Webster then chanted '10 impulse' and a ball hit Solo in the back creating a dent in his back. Solo then coughed blood and fell on his stomach.
"you lost kid, give up," Webster said coldly. Solo then twitched angrily got up and rushed him again.
He got behind Webster and attempted a hit which Webster blocked with his arm. After blocking three hits from Solo, he swung his leg and kicked Solo in the jaw knocking him across the arena.
As the crowd cheered, Solo stood up and staggered a bit. Then he stood up tall and looked at Webster menacingly, But when he charged forward again and got close to Webster, Webster turned around and kicked Solo hard in the chin knocking him to the ground. Solo slowly got up and was in pain. Takarith then began to hide his face as he knew the brutality was only beginning.
As Solo struggled to walk towards Webster. Webster smirked at Solo and walked towards him and picked him up.
Takarith then covered his mouth as he saw Webster throw Solo onto the ground. He then placed his foot on Solo's chest. As Solo struggled to move away from the weight.
Webster then pulled him by his collar.
"This boy is a weakling." he then threw him again and made him hit his head against the ground. The audience roared. Solo tried to awaken but then all the metal balls hit him in the back with infinite velocity, crushing his spine.
"Just give up Solo..." Webster said again. Solo only shook his head making Webster sigh.
"I don't have time for this, I'll end you quickly," Webster said as he stood Solo up. Webster then chanted 'infinite momentum, Negative impulse' as the metal balls started to circle Solo faster and faster. One ball hit Solo in the face ricochetted off his head and bounced off the metal balls and hit him again. The process repeated. Seconds later, another ball joined and did the same thing. and another and another until Solo was being tortured. Solo was yelling for his life and was on the verge of dying until Webster saw he was about to die so Webster stopped the onslaught. Seconds after stopping, Solo dropped on his back immediately and passed out from the pain. The fight was over.
"And your winner, Webster Danvers," the announcer said as the crowd began cheering. Takarith was worried about Solo and felt bad for him
"Solo..." he said as he shook his head and left the area. Una followed him with a small smile on her face. Webster then left the battle Arena immediately and went to the locker room. As he left the crowd went silent. waiting for Solo to awaken. when Solo finally regained consciousness, the crowd burst into laughter.
"You got beaten" the crowd chanted over and over. Solo had a tear go down his face and he yelled in pain as he ran to the back, his days as a fighter were over, and now he had to go to the worst school with the worst curriculum.
When Solo made it to the back Mr. Burns had a smile on his face.
"Solo, I'd love to say it's sad to see you go. but I'd be lying. you can go rot in hell" he said as he walked away from Solo, leaving him there alone. Solo then had veins over his body by how angry he was and he yelled. Solo had never been so angry and hurt before. After seconds of yelling, he passed out and was taken to a hospital.
"Solo... Solo. wake up" he heard a light feminine voice beg. when he opened his eyes, Takarith was sitting on the edge of the bed with him.
"ah, you're finally awake," Takarith said relieved. Solo turned to his side.
"Why are you here, idiot," Solo said angrily.
"uh, I uh.. I was just worried about you and..." Takarith tried to answer before he was cut off
"it doesn't matter why I'm here, you shouldn't have been here. You should've stayed back in your place" Solo said as a tear rolled down his face.
"But... you're going to go back home right, Una would be very worried," Takarith said. Solo closed his eyes
"no, the deal was if I lost. I go to the worst school with the worst curriculum." Solo said hopelessly.
Takarith sighed.
"Solo, trust me you don't know what I've been through when I was a child, if I can be as strong as I am now, I have all the confidence in you," Takarith said sadly. Solo then looked to his side.
"There is no point in trying to cheer me up. I'm going to die in that place, so just consider me a bad memory. I'm leaving in 10 minutes after my wounds heal. and if you want Una, I trust you will treat her well." Solo said.
Takarith then blushed.
"huh, I can have her, do you mean that... n-no way. we're just friends" Takarith said in denial.
"friends? yeah sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy" Solo said sarcastically then laid back down on the bed and closed his eyes.
"Are you ok Solo...?" Takarith asked.
"yes I'm fine" he answered coldly.
"ok. I think I'll go now, guessing this is goodbye then?" Takarith asked innocently.
"yes this is goodbye, please take care of my sister," Solo said. Takarith nodded and slowly walked out the door leaving Solo in the hospital room alone.
Minutes passed and Solo was able to walk again. Mr. Burns was waiting outside for Solo and was so happy to see Solo leave.
"oh Solo, I never thought this day would come. I'm so glad you're leaving" Mr. Burns said smugly.
"shut the hell up old geezer, I only lost because you rigged the fight" Solo yelled. Burns laughed heartily.
"oh you young fool, you lost because you weren't good enough. you were born a failure. Takarith and Una know it, they just don't want to tell you" Mr. Burns said stunning Solo. Solo didn't say anything because he knew it was true, Solo hung his head as he walked on the bus. He took a seat at the back of the bus and looked out the window. he was leaving his home that cursed him, to a new place where he could potentially die. Solo for the first time in his life teared up and cried in his hands. Solo didn't want to die, but he knew it was inevitable. Plus this was all Solo's fault anyway.
The bus drive was days long and was an emotional ride for Solo. during the time, he thought about his past, with his friends and family. How he's been so unappreciative of them. He had a Top Rank for a friend and didn't thank him once. he had an elite for a sister and always ignored her. Solo realized during this trip that this was the punishment God was giving him, and Solo had to accept that. Solo didn't say a word during the entire trip.
a few more days passed and Solo finally arrived at the Historic Curriculum. He was in the Slums area, the worst place on Erath. Solo sighed as he took a step off the bus and instantly felt dizzy. He leaned against the bus for support and waited for his vision to regain its clarity.
As he stood straight he looked ahead and saw hundreds of people. They were crowded together on the sidewalk, staring at him and whispering amongst themselves. Some people were even pointing their fingers laughing.
Solo looked at his feet. He knew this was his punishment so he closed his eyes and ignored the crowd. He walked and investigated the area, but he instantly got lost. he walked around aimlessly until he saw a boy, about 20 yards away with long black hair sitting on the ground looking up. The boy was looking directly into the sun and seemed to be relaxed. He was sitting peacefully until Solo stepped on a twig and it made a small sound, but the boy still heard it and turned around. He had a childlike face and had a black mark going down his cheek. His most notable feature was his closed eyes. They never opened.
"Whoever is there, there is no reason to be afraid. I can't hurt you..." The boy said calmly" Solo didn't move and hoped the boy would ignore this. sooner or later the boy smiled and waved his hand.
"Hello, stranger..." he said innocently. Solo was confused. Solo sighed then walked to the boy hoping that he wouldn't try anything crazy.
