Work Text:

It’s…hard to raise a kid. Even with all of the help he gets from Prin, Demo, and Nezha.

Sunny’s pretty sure it’s because Liu Er Mk’s other parent isn’t here to help him with the various things Sunny doesn’t understand.

Like the appetite of a five-year-old.

Luckily, though, there was a noodle shop nearby that looked promising, so Sunny found Mk and himself in front of it one Tuesday.

“Welcome to Pigsy’s Noodle Shop, how may I help you?” A voice came from the back as the bell rang.

Before Sunny could speak, the breath was punched out of him at a spitting image of Bajie pushing a cloth to the side.

“Uh, hello?” Bajie the pig demon said, looking at Sunny with worry, making him realize that he was having trouble breathing.

“Daddy?” Mk’s voice asked, as a little hand tugged on his, finally snapping Sunny out of his…trance? Yeah, trance.

“Sorry. Yeah, my son and I just moved in down the street not too long ago and wanted to try it out. What would you suggest?” Sunny asked, shaking off the weird fuzzy feeling he was getting.

The pig demon-- Pigsy, Sunny guessed-- looked at him with a bit more scrutiny, but thankfully moved on.

“Depends, what do you two like?” Pigsy asked.

A year later, Sun now had a running joke that if he had realized how much Mk liked the noodle shop, he would’ve tried to move in above the shop itself.

This joke was quickly followed by Pigsy joking that he’d put Sunny and Mk to work if he did, making Sunny and Teng (Pigsy’s…boyfriend??) laugh at the enormous amounts of protest Mk yells out. It happened every time the two of them went to the noddle shop, which was fairly often.

One day, Sunny was approached by a nice-looking guy with light blue eyes that seemed to glow a bit, who smiled and held out his hand.

But before Sunny could do anything, Mk quickly bit the guy’s hand, since he stretched it out over the toddler’s head.

Sunny gasped as the man yelped out in pain, quickly pulling his hand back and glaring at the now smirking child, who seemed to bare his teeth just slightly at the guy.

“Mk! We do not bite people! I’m so sorry, I don’t know where he learned that from.” Sunny scolded, smiling awkwardly at the guy.

“It’s fine. I’m…uh…” the guy seemed to lose a good amount of color when he looked at a point behind Sunny, and quickly left the shop.

“...Well that was weird. Mk, you know better than to bite people.” Sunny said, checking Mk’s mouth to make sure he didn’t hurt himself.

He didn’t see Pigsy and Teng give a grinning Mk two pairs of thumbs up.

“It’s not funny, guys!” Sunny said, watching helplessly as his three best friends were either giving Mk congratulations (Demo and Nezha) or laughing so hard she was coughing (Prin).

“It…kind of is, though, Sunny. He’s very much like Liu Er in that aspect.” Demo said, making Sunny rub his face roughly.

“I know…he’s becoming more and more like him.” Sunny said, smiling slightly at the puffed-out chest his son had.

“I need to protect you until Baba comes back! It’s my duty!” Mk said, making Sunny look at him in surprise.

“Mk…Mùchén, I-” Sunny cut himself off as for a split moment, all he saw was his moonlight standing where his son was.

Quickly, the slight illusion passed, and all Sunny could do was smile a bit and pick his sweet son up and cuddle him, his eyes slightly wet.

“I love you, wǒ xīnài de bǎozàng. (我心爱的宝藏)” Sunny said.

“Love you too, Daddy!” Mk cheered back, hugging his dad tightly and carefully wiping away the tears that were falling.

It’s gone .

Flower Fruit Mountain.

Their Flower Fruit Mountain.

Gone. Nowhere to be found.

But why? Why would Shi Sun Wukong, that’s the name he has to use now-

Why would he hide it?

From him of all people?

Is this his way of saying that he hates him? That he doesn’t need him? Fine. That’s completely fine.

Liu Er Six-Eared Macaque doesn’t need anyone.

(Even though he so desperately needs the person he loves the most)

Notes:

我心爱的宝藏 means my beloved treasure, I'm pretty sure.
As always, correct me if I am wrong!
