the faded star (discontinued)

Summary:

contrast

"The world around them seemed to disappear as they got absorbed into the song.

The music, upbeat at the start, began to slow as they danced in sync.

They spun and stepped, even twirling each other around at times, always in perfect harmony.

Each movement was well practiced and gentle. The two girls had done the choreography for this part, and they made sure each part was gentle, almost floating.

Kind of like a butterfly."

"Like a beautiful flower you pick in a park. You put it in a vase, and admire its beauty every time you pass by. Soon, it starts to wilt and you get rid of it.

Tsukasa was a wilted flower. He was also a comfortable sweater you outgrow. A clock that stops ticking, and runs just a bit too fast.

Useless."

Chapter Text

Nene clapped happily, sitting by a speaker, while the other members of her troupe stood on a stage, breathing heavily.

“Ah, great job guys!” She quietly praised them.

“Wonderhoy Nene!!” A pink haired girl hopped down from the stage and ran over to her friend.

Nene giggled slightly and embraced Emu.

The two remaining on stage, Tsukasa and Rui, turned towards each other and high fived enthusiastically.

“I obviously inspired you all with my star-like talent!” Tsukasa shouted, grinning.

“Oh yes humble king, where would we be without you?” Rui bowed mockingly towards the other boy, stifling laughter.

Tsukasa rolled his eyes and playfully shoved the other boy.

The two laughed as Rui draped an arm around the honey haired boy.

This made Tsukasa feel a something fuzzy and warm. An emotion that he couldn’t quite identify

He shook it off, and just decided to keep smiling. He was content being different enough as it was.

Just as the two of them walked down the stairs, Emu sprinted up to them.

“Nene says you should practice your duet!” She grinned while shoving them both back up the stairs.

Tsukasa imitates a young damsel about to faint.

“Oh, but Emu! I’m sooo tired already.” He leaned backwards, with his hand placed gently on his forehead.

Rui just laughed obnoxiously.

Emu shook her head energetically. “Wondahoi Kasa! Nene says you have tooo~ ehe!”

Tsukasa suddenly remembered how much Emu is like how Saki was as a child.

Always so full of energy and curiosity.

Sometimes ignorance, but never in a malicious, or bad way. He liked that about the both of them.

Him and Rui both got into their positions for their duet, and soon after, Nene started playing the music.

The world around them seemed to disappear as they got absorbed into the song.

The music, upbeat at the start, began to slow as they danced in sync.

They spun and stepped, even twirling each other around at times, always in perfect harmony.

Each movement was well practiced and gentle. The two girls had done the choreography for this part, and they made sure each part was gentle, almost floating.

Kind of like a butterfly.

Speaking of which, butterflies seemed to flutter about in Tsukasa’s gut as he danced. Facing his dance partner was more anxiety inducing than it should’ve been

Soon enough, the music picked up speed and the two other girls climbed onto the stage for the finishing part of their show.

As the final note played, they all froze in their positions, looking out at the empty audience with heaving breaths.

Emu was the first to fall, instead of sitting down normally. She quickly grabbed Nene’s sleeve, and dragged Nene along with her, giggling. “Hehe!”

The green haired girl yelped as her sleeve was getting tugged on, wincing when she hit the stage floor.

The two boys sat down next to them, with Rui making sure that Nene was alright.

Nene gently shoved him away, saying that she was fine. Rui shrugged.

“If you say so.”

He stood up, patting her on the shoulder.

Emu quickly stood up as well. “Sorry Nene, I didn’t think you would get hurt, wahhh!” She frowned and threw her arms around the other.

The green haired girl shook her head quickly. “Don’t worry about it Emu, I’m okay.” She murmured.

“Just making suree!” Emu giggles and helps Nene stand up. The taller girl looks away, with a blush on her cheeks forming.

Tsukasa grinned at the two. They were so obvious, even his own dense self could see that they liked each other. He knew that neither of them would admit it

He was about to say that they should practice again, but Rui beat him to it.

“C’mon guys, stand up. From the top! Everyone places.”

Tsukasa laughed softly. It was always so funny to him when Rui took charge, because even though he was their director, he never really acted like it. His personality just didn’t fit.

Yet at the same time, it somehow did. Their stage director was weird like that.

Tsukasa yelped at the realization that he had zoned out.

“Sorry dear friends, my mind got a little lost.” He sheepishly apologized to his friends, who were almost in their positions.”

“No harm done.” Rui shrugged “Just get up here.”

The honey haired boy nodded aggressively and clambered up onto the stage as quickly as possible.

Just before Nene started the music, he looked out at the sekai. Colors shined brightly everywhere, yet it was peaceful.

Even with the living plushies dancing about. Even with Rin and Len playing tag, very loudly by one of the tents, it was calm.

Tsukasa sighed, with a grin on his face.

The music started up, and everyone moved along with the notes.

After the first song, the rest of act 1 went by astoundingly fast.

The troupe all stumbled down the stairs, with their legs sore.

Emu exhaled loudly.

“That. Was. Wonderhoy.” She took a deep breath between each word and immediately passed out onto Nene’s shoulder.

“Oh god. I’ll take her home, see you guys tomorrow.” The girl very carefully lifted Emu onto her arms, carrying her tenderly, then closing the Untitled file.

The two disappeared into colorful shapes as the boys watched on silently.

Tsukasa turned to face the purple haired boy. “We should probably head back too.”

Rui nodded and sleepily pulled out his phone to close Untitled. He grabbed the hand of the boy next to him, and Tsukasa quickly looked away, his cheeks turning slightly pink.

With his other hand, Rui paused the file, and after a few seconds, they were back by the Wonder stage.

Tsukasa speedily let go of the other’s hand and looked up at the sky, acting like nothing had happened. “It’s getting late, I should definitely get home.”

Rui looked at his watch. “It’s only 8:30. Let me walk you at least.”

“Oh, but of course! Anything for the paparazzi.” Tsukasa put a hand to his face gently, like a model posing for a picture.

The taller boy cackled at this, resting his arm on the shorter one’s shoulder. Tsukasa pretended it wasn’t there as they started walking home.

The breeze was cool, though the night was warm. Flowers bloomed, peeking out of the grass, and climbing up the cracks of the sidewalk they walked on.

After about fifteen minutes of silence, the two stood in front of a big house.

“See you tomorrow, dearest stage director!” Tsukasa quickly hugged Rui goodbye, and ran to his front door, his cardigan flowing behind him.

“See you tomorrow.” Rui whispered.
