Alhaitham's Guide to Kaveh

Summary:

"Did he not think he would be playable? What a preposterous thought. He is the Light of Kshahrewar, there should have been no question of his inclusion."

or

How could Kaveh think he wouldn't be playable? Was it not obvious? What, did Alhaitham need to write a thesis to prove that point?

Notes:

Dedicated to mina, juko, fritz and redd for being my Kaveh TC gang. I love you all.

I'm late this time but in my defense, Alhaitham is so hard to write what a menace of a man. By the time this is published, Kaveh is already in my account and being mean, I only got him at C4. Gonna hope he spook me till C6 by the end of this patch. Let this fic be my offering.

Edit: Late update but I got C6 he came back near the end! So yep, I'm the proud owner of C6 Kaveh on debut <3 Clearly he was sulking over Alhaitham giving the interview for this fic.

Work Text:

Kaveh | Empyrean Reflection
Updated for version 3.6
Artist: Hoyoverse
“Kaveh is a famous architect in Sumeru. The Palace of Alcazarzaray is his magnum opus. During the initial planning, he even asked me to recommend suitable ornamental flora. I don't know why or how, but he ended up heavily in debt after the palace was completed. Alhaitham is helping out by letting him stay at his place, but... I don't know whether that's a blessing or a curse...”

Introduction
Kaveh is a 4-star Dendro supportive on-field Enabler, also the current Acting Grand Sage’s roommate. A genius of his Darshan and hailed as the Light of Kshahrewar, Kaveh’s kit is as magnificent as his artworks. Follow us in this guide to explore the beauty that is this man—

“So this is the current standard of interviews conducted in Sumeru. Hmm, perhaps I should look into making sure…better standards are maintained.”

“...”

“Take a seat. I’ll be checking over the work to ensure the information is accurate.”

Why Play Kaveh?
“There are a multitude of reasons to want Kaveh’s help. He is an extremely hardworking individual with a wide array of skills. Take care to not waste his time. I very much prefer when Kaveh gets enough sleep, he's less naggy then.”

Pros Cons
  • “Quality. Kaveh will deliver only the highest quality of work.”
  • “He is one of the greatest minds of Sumeru of the century. People are blind if they think otherwise.”
  • “Kaveh is a very friendly individual. One can only be comfortable in his presence.”
  • (The Acting Grand Sage looks fond—)
  • “You’ll not be publishing that point.”
  • (Eeep!)
  • “Before I begin, I will assume that this section will not be placed in an overly obvious location in your article. It is simply not wise to unveil a person’s weakness so publically.”
  • (The look in the Acting Grand Sage’s eyes is terrifying…)
  • “Kaveh is kind…too much so. He’s an extremely caring person, which leads to him burning himself out for others. If he can spare some of that kindness for himself, it will save me a lot of trouble. “
  • “Kaveh, if you’re reading this column—don’t bother denying it, senior—stop buying drinks at Lambad’s. Your tab this month is almost due, and so is your rent. I am expecting you to be home by 10.”

TL;DR
“I will send in a request to the relevant department for Kaveh’s infographic. Don’t worry, I’ll handle this personally.”

Talents
“Kaveh is one of the brightest minds of our generation—from the look of confusion on your face, did you expect me to say otherwise? Do not misunderstand me; while we argue often, I think of Kaveh very highly. He is, if not only, one of the most brilliant members of his Darshan, aptly living up to his title as the Light of Kshahrewar.

What else? Is the answer not sufficient? To list all of Kaveh’s talents will be an inefficient use of my time, while reducing said list is disrespectful to him. That excerpt is enough.”

Constellations
“It is fortunate that Kaveh had spoken of this to me before. After all, I personally do not have an interest in this subject.

Kaveh’s constellation is the Bird of Paradise. They are beautiful birds with a haughty attitude, and a constant need to prove themselves of their creations. They are loud, fancy, and vibrant in their presence. It suits him.

What is my constellation? According to Kaveh, it’s an Eagle. He finds it amusing that we’re both represented by birds that are prey and predator by nature, thus unable to co-exist together. We’re exactly like our constellations, he said.

I disagree. I don’t believe that our destiny is predetermined by the stars. There is no prey and predator—Kaveh is my equal and my mirror, and there is no one else I would rather have as my companion.”

FAQ
(...The look on the Acting Grand Sage's face doesn't bode well…)

“...Is Sir Kaveh single? Is he interested in—No, absolutely not. There isn't a single useful question on this list. Scrap this entire section.”

Weapons
“Recently, a mutual friend of ours gifted Kaveh a greatsword from Mondstadt1. He has taken a great liking to it, and the flowers do suit him greatly.

… Hmm? Our matching weapons2? Ah you must mean the one I gifted him for graduation. It's still in his possession and well cared for. What's the meaning behind us having matching weapons?

Tsk, you're overthinking it. There's no special reason. It's a gift that suits him, that's all.”

Artifacts
“Kaveh prefers to study and work with the artifact set that reveals stories about the Dendro Archon3. It isn't uncommon to find an emerald leaf tucked behind his ear instead of his favourite quill.

…Recently, he had also gotten his hands on some pearls from Inazuma4. I don't understand it but if it's worth Kaveh's attention, then it must be worth a study.”

Teams
“It's not in his nature to turn down anyone who wants to befriend him. That is just how Kaveh is. Sometimes, though, his choice of acquaintances results in hurt. This is not uncommon.

I cannot stop him from making friends. I do not have the right to stop Kaveh from being Kaveh.

All I can ask for is that whoever accompanies Kaveh to take care of him, and make sure he returns home by the end of the day.”

Afterword
“Let me look over what you’ve written.

Hmm, adequate. Still, this brings to my attention that there are some…unsavoury publications on influential figures of our nation.

You have my approval to publish this, bar the notes you’ve written on the sides. Please fill out the appropriate paperwork, and send me a copy once it is published. Here is the appropriate mora.”

“Hmm, send a copy to Kaveh as well. It will be amusing to see his reaction.”

Notes:

1. Mailed Flower [Jump Back]

2. Makhaira Aquamarine. As for its matching pair that Alhaitham is referring to, that would be Xiphos' Moonlight. [Jump Back]

3. Deepwood Memories [Jump Back]

4. Ocean-Hued Clam. Actually kinda hilariously viable, but with caveats. Still funny tho. [Jump Back]

5. His teammates hurting Kaveh refers to Bloom self-damage, if it isn't obvious. It also implies that even though Kaveh can self-heal, you should prolly bring a healer.

6. I'm so sad that Alhaitham and Kaveh can't work together AAAAA but also like damn they really do mirror each other in their kits too huh like Alhaitham being Spread DPS and Kaveh being Bloom Enabler. Kinda aesthetic if you ask me.

7. ALHAITHAM IS SUCH A MENACE TO WRITE HIS VOICE IS SO HARD.

8. Repeating this: This is pre-TC, also its a fic, don't take it as building advice. <3

9. It's not as funny as Kaveh's, but I hope it's amusing enough.
