*Mei was with the other’s at the farm along with Chick and Hack who were visiting… At a corner near a t-split road was Hanna and Malt who both had plans of their own…*
Malt: Hey Hanna! I’m ready to hold up my promise that we’d go somewhere quiet together after the war!... Mei is back at the farm having fun showing Chick and Hack around!… Grandma and Grandpa have explained to the others that we'll be out together and shouldn’t bother us!…
*a smile is on both their faces… but Hanna seems to be blushing a bit…she’s also carrying a woven basket in the bend of her arm…*
Hanna: That’s good!... Mama and I packed a lunch for us! *she chuckles softly…*
Malt: Oh! Okay!... then let’s head up the hill with the tree then!... we’ll have a nice shade from the sun and a view of the village there!...
Hanna: Sounds like a perfect place to be Malt!... Ehehe!.. *a big smile forms on Hanna’s face while she laughs and has her eyes shut…*
*The two walked the path leading up the hill with the tree… then they shared stories of things that happened during their journey… reminiscing on the positives of their time on the Taranis…*
Malt: I still can’t believe we made it through all that without losing anyone!... though something has been bothering me since we first learned about the Soul Cannon… *Malt gives a very concerning look while facing the village…*
Hanna: What is it Malt?... *Hanna looks at Malt with a worried look with her head tilted slightly… she also puts her hand on his shoulder…*
*Malt faces forward looking at the ground while looking confused…*
Malt: Do you remember before our fight with that Berman Officer?... you guys noticed i had tears on my face… but i didn’t know why?... Well, I had a terrible nightmare a few nights ago…
Hanna: What was the dream about?... You know you can always ask me if there is something wrong!...
Malt: Okay!... here I go… *sigh*...
Malt: We were on the Taranis… and… there was panic!... Mei was holding onto you as you looked like you were calling to me?... but all i heard was this ringing in my ears and muffled explosions… then a voice called to me… then when i turned to look behind me… there was the chamber just a few steps away!... the voice asked me “will you do anything to save the lives of your friends?...” and so I replied saying “yes!... anything to save my friends!... especially Mei!...” Then the chamber opened with a red glow and white fumes were pouring out into the darkness… then suddenly the distance between me and the chamber got longer… then these tendrils were coming out to the sides into the darkness… as the tendrils peeked out of the darkness, the voice said… “your wish, is, GRANTED!...” Next thing I knew the tendrils lunged right at me and then I woke up screaming!...
Hanna: Oh my!... *Hanna shows a surprised and worried reaction on her face…*
Malt: Mei was woken up by my scream and wondered what was wrong?... Then Grandma and Grandpa rushed in to see what happened… and we told them it was only a nightmare… I just told them I didn't remember so we all went back to sleep like nothing happened…
Hanna: So you lied?...
Malt: Yeah… cause I didn't think it would bug me later… but today… *sigh!...* I’m glad I shared this with you Hanna… I feel better about it!... *A small smile was now Malt’s face…*
Hanna: Well we're safe now!... And we don’t have to think about the Taranis or the Soul Cannon anymore!... *she hugs Malt to ensure things are okay now…*
Malt: Thank you Hanna!... *Malt hugs her back… after a short while they both let go…*
Hanna: Okay!... How about that lunch I brought?...
Malt: Oh! Yeah!... So what did you and your mother make?...
Hanna: Just some sandwiches and some water!... and a Jam Paw Bun we can split!...
Malt: Oh!... that sounds delicious!...
*Malt and Hanna layed out the picnic blanket and then ate…*
*Minutes later…*
Malt: Aah… that was tasty!... *urp!* oops!... Scuse me!...
Hanna: Hehe!... you're excused and I’m glad you liked it!...
*after they packed away the blanket and canteen… Malt laid flat on the ground…*
Malt: Phew… wanna just lay here a little while Hanna?...
*Hanna looked a bit surprised and blushed a little…*
Hanna: Okay then!...hehe!...
*So the two laid on the hill in silence while the wind blew faintly, and the birds were chirping… but Hanna looked then looked at Malt with a nervous look and blushing?...*
Hanna: Hey Malt?!... Can I tell you something?...
Malt: Oh… yeah! Of course you can Hanna… *Malt gets up to meet Hanna at eye level…* *yawn!* What is it?... *Malt is rubbing his eye…*
Hanna: Well… I-I wanted to tell you… something!...
*Malt inched a bit closer to Hanna…*
Malt: What?... What is it Hanna?...
Hanna: (Come on Hanna! It’s now or never!...)
Malt: Are you alright?... Is something the ma-
*Before Malt could finish his sentence… Hanna moved in close as she closed her eyes… and kissed Malt on the lips…*
*Malt’s face lit up with his face turning red and his eyes wide!... Before Hanna stopped… then looked at Malt in the eyes with a smile and then… hugged him firmly with her head in his chest…*
Hanna: Yes… *she spoke softly…* Yes I'm okay… and I wanted to say… I love you Malt…
*Malt finally knew how Hanna really felt for him… and hugged her back in a warm embrace…*
Malt: *He spoke softly as well…* I love you too!... Hanna… *He opened his eyes and said…* Hanna?...
Hanna: *She looked up at Malt and said…* Yes Malt?...
*Malt is still blushing while looking serious at her…*
Malt: I promise that I'll protect you!... *He clenches his fist near his chest…* I’ll protect you and Mei with everything I've got!...
Hanna: Teehee!... I know you will!... boop!... *she boops Malt’s nose…*
Malt: *he tries to itch his nose but then…* Ah… Ah…* ACHOO!* *Malt sneezed in the bend of his arm…* *sniff!*
Hanna: Bless you!... here!... use this napkin...
Malt: Guh!... Thank you!... *Malt takes the napkin to blow his nose… then folds it and puts it in his pocket to throw away later…*
Hanna: *chuckles!* I’m sorry!... it’s just… the look you gave after you sneezed was funny looking!... Hahahehehe!...
Malt: *chuckles!* I guess I did look kinda goofy?!... Hehehe!
*After their good laugh together they finally get up and leave the hill… and go home!... At the Marzipan’s… the family sits at the dinner table with a positive atmosphere…*
Grandma: So how was your playdate with your friends here at farm dearie?...
Mei: *she looks excited to tell them!...* It was great!... I had a lot of fun with Chick and Hack today!... Grandpa helped us and we rode on the Moosheep!...
Grandma: Oh that’s wonderful dear!... And how about you Malt dear?...
Malt: Well… don’t tell the others but!... *Malt looks happily nervous with his eyes shut while rubbing the back of his neck…* I think me and Hanna just went on a date today?!...
Mei: *gasp!*
*Malt’s Grandparents looked surprised but smiled happily…*
Grandma: Oh that’s wonderful honey!...
Grandpa: That’s my Grandson!... I’m proud of you!... You got yourself a girlfriend! Hehe!... *He walks over to scratch Malt’s head…*
Grandpa: Anything else happen? Hehehe!...
Malt: Well she kissed me on the lips!... *Malt looks a little embarrassed…*
Grandma: Oh!... *she seems surprised and happy…*
Grandpa: Ohoho!... Already your first kiss ey?!... Hehehe!... Sounds like she made the first move!... *chuckles*...
Mei: Yuck!... *chuckles!* Do you love Hanna back Malt?... *Mei’s looks at Malt with a cheeky smile…*
Malt: Yeah!... And I promised I'd protect her with all my might!... *Malt clenches his fist near his chest like before…*
Grandma: Oh that’s sweet of you dear!... *she looks at Malt with a smile while clasping her hands together…*
Malt: I don’t want you guys to tell the others because… I know that Kyle has a crush on Hanna… and I don't know how he’ll react to this… but we agreed that we’ll tell him ourselves…
Grandma: Don’t you worry dear, your secret is safe with us!...
Grandpa: Our lips are sealed!
*Later… the kids were brushing their teeth when Malt asked Mei something…
Malt: Mei… Can I trust you NOT to tell anyone till me and Hanna break the news to Kyle first?...
Mei: Don’t worry big brother!... *She proceeds to gesture a salute…* I won’t let you down!...
Malt: *gives a smile while his eyes are shut…* Hehe… Okay!... I’m counting on you!...
*And so they left for bed… tucked in by their Grandparents… and off to dreamland…*
*But before we continue… let’s hear how things were from Hanna side…*
*Hanna was putting up the basket… while her mother had just put two bowls of stew on the kitchen table for dinner…*
Ms. Fondant: Evening Hanna dear!... *she had turned towards Hanna with a big smile on her face…*
Hanna: Evening mama!...
Ms. Fondant: Come have a seat and have some stew before it gets cold!...
Hanna: Okay!...
*The two sat side by side at the small kitchen table… taking spoonfuls of their stews… and then Hanna’s Mom asked Hanna… with a cheerful smile…*
Ms. Fondant: So?... How’d it go?... *chuckles!*
Hanna: *she sighs with a blushing face and a smile…* It was perfect mom!... I know we never said it was a date but… It very much felt like one!... *Hanna is moving her spoon in a circular motion in her stew while her eyes are shut… and is blushing and smiling still…* And then… *she pauses…*
Ms. Fondant: And then what dear?... *she looks at Hanna with her eyebrows raised…*
Hanna: We kissed!... *she has her left hand on her chest and her other to her face…* I went in for it!... And now I think this makes us more than just friends!... *Hanna looks very happy…* He also said he’d protect me with all his might!...
Ms. Fondant: Oh that’s wonderful news honey!... I’m glad you too are closer than before!... He's such a sweet boy for saying that!... Does anyone else other than me dear?...
Hanna: No… But probably Malt’s Grandparents and Mei will know by now… We want to keep this quiet until we break it to Kyle… Malt told me about how Kyle had a crush on me since we first met!... And we're not sure how he’ll react?...
Ms. Fondant: We’ll i’m sure that Kyle will understand…
Hanna: (I just worry that he’ll be sad over this when he finds out!...) I’ll help clean this up then I should get ready for bed Mama!... It’s getting quite late!...
Ms. Fondant: Hehe!... Alright dear!...
*So the dishes were done… and Hanna got all ready for a goodnight’s rest…*
*Now back on track!... The next morning… the children met up outside the Marzipan’s farm to finally break the news to them…*
Malt: So… we… have something very important to tell you guys!... um…
Hanna: It’s hard to say this but… we didn’t tell you guys yesterday because of… well…
Socks: What is it then?... *Socks fiddle with his glasses a bit…*
Boron: You both seem hesitant?... What’s wrong?... Is it bad news?...
Malt: Nono!... It’s actually good but!...
Kyle: We’ll come to think of it?... You two weren’t there at the farm nor at home?... What’s that all about?!... *Kyle is getting suspicious!...*
*While this was happening… Mei spoke out casually…*
Mei: Oh that’s because they were having a picnic date and they kissed- oop! *Mei immediately clasped her hands over her mouth… but then opened her hands to speak a bit before shutting them again…* Sorry guys!...
Kyle, Boron, and Socks: WHAT!?... *the others were shocked!...*
Socks: Congratulations you two!...
Boron: Wowee!... I didn’t expect that!...
Kyle: You mean… you two are… boyfriend and girlfriend now?!... *Kyle’s eyes were half open while his visible eye twitched a bit…*
Hanna: Sorry Kyle!... but know that we're still friends!...
Kyle: It’s okay!... I-I’m!... happy for you guys… *Kyle looks a bit down in the dumps…*
Malt: Don’t worry Kyle!... I’m sure there's someone out there who you’ll fall in love with!?...
Kyle: Yeah… you're right Malt…
*But in Kyle’s mind was a day-dream of him… on the floor in tears… then looking up with his eyes closed shouting…*
Kyle: NOOOO!-
*Ba-dum-tss!...*
